  • Are you a rasist?

  • @TheRejoice7 That makes him even cooler!

  • ...you took apart a turntable to make a homemade bass? really? -.-

  • dude you crazy as hell i love it

  • That was like awesome!

  • he he magpie :D

  • Holy shit, it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • give me my 3:23 back!

  • @luiscunillerad Fine you can have the 3:23 I spent watching this video. It was cool!

  • Les Claypool can play Yngwie Malmsteen songs on that.

  • Did he say 1 beaner peice of wood?

  • i absolutely love this, pity that record players are so hard to come by, if i were to find one id probably only use it for playing old records.

    nice job

  • i wish my bands bassist had a bass like that

  • EPIC~!

  • This and a 6pac and we have concert...

  • mc Gyver :)

  • you sir are deranged!

    please make more!!!

    your thingie is wonderful

do the strings need to vibrate over the pick up or willit work if it were in a differet place? So if you do several strings it works on all X strings?

please make more I enjoyed this

    swaz

  • you rock man!

  • Very cool!

  • XDDD nice

  • its cool but dude. omg is so gay

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • nice bass love it rock on !

  • sweet bass like that

  • @smashygadge Thanks!

  • pretty cool

  • "No expense spared".....ha,ha. Good work on the instrument and video!

  • haha nice

  • Lol that's really cool =P

  • did u tune the string? because it is an actual low E for a bass XD

  • @BassDude50000 Thanks! It was just a beautiful accident. :D

  • Wow, I was pretty suprised by the results of it.

  • dude - you chiseled with a screwdriver - but took time to soder the wires... loved it :)

  • Genius!!

    Just Genius!

  • thats some friggin ghetto electrical engineering right there

  • That is friggin' amazing!!!! I love it, great job, man!!

  • cool, I will try something like this soon

thanks for checking out my channel buddy

  • I knew i was in trouble when I heard him say git-tar! lol :P

  • I know where he found that his great-grandfather's attic! :P

  • Are you using a screwdriver as a chisel?

    you rebel... ;)

  • Could just buy a piezo

  • Utterly fascinating!

  • Beautiful. :)

  • what do you use for the string?

  • For this one it's a cotton/nylon blend (I think). One of my earlier versions had a rubber band another has an elastic string. Just about anything will work.

  • Thank you. I'll try to make one, too.

  • Good work!! I think u can use one of those tiny headphones as a mic too

  • Where do you buy your weed from.

that must be some good shit for you to make this.

and btw next time wear glass's.

    STONER :P

  • Could have just bought the piezo at radio shack for like 5 bucks.

  • Uh... have you been to Radio Shack lately? All I find there is a guy who says "We don't sell that anymore", and then asks "Do you want to buy a phone?".

  • Sounds like your radio shack people suck something awful. Mine are quite helpful, and even when they don't have the object on hand, they're usually more than willing to order it.

  • @kjigmond. just buy a piezo

  • No. It made me mad, scratching a good record with it's dead needle.

    It had to die.

  • Well then that works

  • LOL :D

  • dude, I am totally going to make one for myself and jam the fuck out of it

  • you could have just bought the cartrige

instead of destroying a perfectly good turntable for it

  • that is kickass man! i'm a bass player myself i i would totally play that, its got a great sound!

    keep on rockin man!

  • love the marshall amp in the background...

  • Thanks!

  • its just a cheapo mg series

  • you could have taken the cartidge out without dismantling the table.

  • But I needed the lead wires, and the thing got me mad by scratching one of my records with it's half dead needle... it had to die.

  • ever heard of a chisel?lol

  • what if you added frets? Like, hammered staples about an inch wide into the wood at say three inch intervals?

  • lets try xD!

  • You ARE AWESOMELY SMART!!!

im a drummer, but usually you could buy record players for like 10$ and get 5 of them, then buy some wood and maybe customise your wood to make it like a guitar. And your practilly done.

I have a request, could you try getting more of the strings and make it into like a 4 or 5 sting bass, you will be my hero if u can

  • any other things you could use to get the wires and cartridge??? coz my turntables to good to break!

  • Ebay has plenty of phono cartridges and record player parts on sale. Some retailers still carry them as well.

  • cheers

  • I'm totally doing this, man. I don't have a record player, I'll just use something else.

    Thanks for the video!

  • why not just buy a piezo at radioshack for $4..instead of dismantling a good vintage phonograph?

  • Good. any other instruments you can make?

  • Drums, but only because just about anything you smack with a stick sounds like a drum. :D

  • Amazing... you should market and copyright this. Sell a bunch, make some money!

  • Thanks but arsen236 tells me Les Paul made one like this years ago. I'm gonna guess somebody has a patent on it already.

  • THATS FUCKIN AWESOME UR MY HERO!!!

  • Amazing, awesome little how-to movie, I love it! :-)

  • Cool. Thanks.

  • :-) Hahaha, that's cool man, you rock! *rocker smily*

    Great video *thumbs up*

    :-D

  • that was fucking SWEET ive got to do that

  • bass in ya face ... this was very inspriring!

  • CHECK RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • that was awesome! makin me wonder what else could be possable...

  • I'ma try to make this a 4 string with 4 different turn tables to see if it makes 4 differnt sounds

  • that amazing man so awlsome

  • wow you got an "E" without even tuning

  • ROTFL :D

  • Truly amazing. I love the concept. Now to go get myself a used record player.

    Thanks

  • IF BEING innovative and showing ingenuity is redneck than so be it. That is what is wrong with this country. There is no more ingenuity, and those that show it are made fun of by the masses of people that don't have any themselves. Maybe if more people could show ingenuity we could solve any crisis and not sit on our butts waiting for the government to help us.

  • real cool sound!!! needed 1 drum machine then sweet music!

  • GODDAMMIT! SWEET!!!! :O

  • Clever.

  • wat type of string and which way is the neddle thing facing

  • It's the same question I have... But I don't see the answer... did you find it out?

  • Most any string, or even a rubber band, will do. And I posted a close up of the cartridge called "Cart".

  • I don't often comment on vids, but kudos to you my Phriend!

I love creative music and you cant get more creative than that. Very original idea!!!

Check out my website for my version of creative music at

    myspace(.)com/paulhudd

  • Very nice

  • Sounds like dio's - Rainbow in the dark main riff time to time.

    Anyone agrees ?

  • thts mint mate, proper simple n cheap to make n sound good for wht it was too.

  • Good for you fella, thats what it's all about.

Cheap and fun. Sounds good too.

  • That was awesome! xD Reminds me of a redneck somehow...

  • great stuff doesnt need to come from brain killing process from hours and hours of investigation , great stuff is like this man

    stfu

  • nice 1 man, YOU ROCK!!!!!

  • thats amazing! ur a genius props to ya bro

  • Hooray for ingenuity!! I love to watch people invent things! Thanks for posting this vid!

  • pretty cool. Was there a bridge to raise the string? or was it just laying against the board?

  • great!

  • awesome!

  • So cool!

  • dude that was awesome....howd u learn to make that?

  • lmao dude that is awsome!!

  • Yup, I see you had the sense to NOT post any video of yourself. I just figured I gotta live behind this mug so I'd share the misery with the world. :)

  • Lol!!! That Is Soo, Cool! Try Makeing Like An Electric Gutar Or Something! You Would Be Good At It!

  • amazing

  • dude that is totally inspiring!

  • 1 beater peice of wood

play super mario on that or something

  • I'll need to practice a while. Keep checking back.

  • awsome

  • Thats hilarious. What I found most funny was you used either caulk or wood glue, a staple gun, opld wood, old string....Yet you took the time to solder the wiring instead of just twisting/elec taping it. Too funny. Nice Hifi....glad you didnt cut that up to make a drum kit ;)

  • ROFL! :D

  • whoa that is awesome!!

  • omg you are a god!

  • omg you must be a electronic, thats amazing

  • You are my hero!

  • Thanks! Saw your Blair Witch spoof, funny stuff.

  • that is wicked i want a soldering gun

  • that's fantastic! good work man! imagine playing a walking bassline on that thing lol

  • Kevin that was cool.just checked your channel out for other stuff. You got yourself a subscriber for one..the music you love two..the place you live..we are both in PA and three...most important the book you read...Grace & peace.

  • someone lurves this guy ;)

  • That was pretty fucking cool.

  • Hey you should Make one with more like a 6 sting base or a 4 string

  • Hope my kids don't see this... good by turn tables lol

  • LOL

  • It works! Cool!

  • You should totally make this an instructable.

  • wow that was cool, if you make another with more strings post it...i thought that was really awesome

  • u should have taken a 2by like6 and used 4 or 5 strings to make it a REAL homemade electric bass :D

  • it hurts to see a record player go through that lol

  • my dad has that same soldering iron.

  • what a gleefull dude!

  • you should glue four of these together

  • Corkin'!

That's a great sounding bass too!

  • That's fucking awesome ! Why did I spend 400$ on my last bass ?

  • Brilliant! All you have to do is place a piece of wood under the string so you can get clear notes.

  • that was brilliant!

  • your a funny guy

  • nice hack, and nice hi fi unit is that a tube unit check out mine its on my profile look for 1957 vintage motorola hifi

  • It's a solid state. 12 inch woofs and those sweet sounding horns for tweets.

  • it looks old did you mod it so its solid state, I have a vintage 1957 motorola hi fi if trying to fix the tube amp is too much work then ill go solid state and mod mine lol i dunno i want a vintage amp for my ipod, oh and BTW the youtuber damusician referred me to you

  • This is as I bought it. It's a later 60's maybe early 70's. I just uploaded a few of vids from it's record player on Jiggys78s. Some 45's are played on it here on kjigmond. And THANKS Miguel!!!

  • thanx 4 da shoutout! btw i know where to find the date code on maggie units. it can be found on the woofer magnets and the id sticker under the record changer. itz a 4 digit #. it contains year and week of manufacture.

  • Cool! I get to that project along with the others. :)

  • try to use a guitar string?

  • Hmmm, maybe. My acoustic just popped a string. I might scavenge 1 of the 5 left when I restring it.

  • the open string is an E

  • Thanks. It was a beautiful accident. I didn't even think to check it.

  • that was GREAT!!! 10*

  • Nice. I especially enjoyed the total lack of regard for form in favor of function.
