For this one it's a cotton/nylon blend (I think). One of my earlier versions had a rubber band another has an elastic string. Just about anything will work.

im a drummer, but usually you could buy record players for like 10$ and get 5 of them, then buy some wood and maybe customise your wood to make it like a guitar. And your practilly done.
