The peace process (the Good Friday Agreement) is based on the idea that there is a majority in Northern Ireland who consider themselves British. It would be unfair on them to give the land back to Ireland, until the democratic majority wants that to happen.
Sinn Fein, the IRA, Ulster Union, have all conceded this for peace. Why can't you?

Not all cops are bad. Some actually "Protect and Serve" and do their job right, while unfortunately, others tend to enforce law, in various brutal and unnecassary ways and abuse their power because they have a badge and a gun. Just because those two guys had masks on doesn't give the officers the right to put them downon the ground and drag them into that station.

Realistically, If the officer isnt seriously hurt the prosecutor will try to plead it down to something else. Unofficially if you hit a cop... They are going to hand you your teeth in a glass jar once they have you out of camera range and also as an unspoken rule when youre in central booking the correction officers will treat you like crap too.
