Great tune. I remember when this album came out and they did this tune on American Bandstand. Toward the frentic finish, Joe "unplugged" his mic stand and both guitars yet they seemed to keep jamming away with no problem. Hilarious! Pure Joe.
Sorry man, I recorded this on a whim one morning when I was flipping and it was on. I knew I would probably never see it again so all I could do was record it with my digital camera. I've gotten a lot of messages saying the same thing you did and I feel bad for not having the gear at the time to record it the right way. I hope you enjoyed it anyway though. Have a good one.
Used to play this tune and "Got the Time" back in the 80s. We were light years ahead of out time as a cover band because no one knew what the hell we were playing. We were playing "Shift into Glide" by the Kings as well as stuff by the Motels and Missing Persons. We were playing the Romantic's "What I like about you" before anyone had heard it.
We were playing the tune "Too fast for love" from the first Motley Crue LP as soon as it hit the shelves.
Does anyone know the chord progression during the solo in the middle? I can't make all the chords out (beginning at 2:14)... especially the first 10 seconds.

Thanks for the video! Did you all know that Squeeze, from the same genre and era, is going to be touring North America in the Summer of 2007?

Holy crap, that is just too cool! Graham Maby is god!
and how great is that with the hand turning up the volume for the jam?

Best Graham Maby bass solo: "Baby Stick Around". Discuss.

Dunno, he's consistently good, love the feel on "battleground". A musician's musician...and he plays a Spector 5-string like me.

Best Joe Jackson Album "Beat Crazy" Discuss.
No way man, "I'm The Man" is better.
"Look Sharp" is by far the best dude.
I can't make up my mind. Forget it.

They're all good, and better than his "big hit" in the US, Night and Day.

1st concert I ever saw was Joe in Atlantic City NJ.
This song was the highlight for me. It totally got me.
Background vocals kinda suck in the mix on this one.
Joe is smokin!

Il est etonnant : aussi bon sur scene qu'a entendre dans sa chambre sur disque... Vraiment un grand artiste !
