  • Looking at a big beautiful full moon in Tulsa, Ok made me think of this song.......and I had to hear it. :)

  • No one - Not Keith Urgan, Miranda Lambert, NOBODY can beat the original signers of this song.

  • These type of country music singers and songs are a constant reminder that country music as it was once known is dead, dead, dead. I am a country music fan but I do not listen to most of the country songs and singers of today....other than Kellie Pickler. She is real...... and definitely eye candy.

  • Dottie and Lefty,Pure, straight, no bs country! I Love It!

  • Love this song. It has to be one the all time best country tunes.

  • I give my sincere apologies to my unfortunate replay button, but I was desperate for true country music, and you casused me to repeatedly click on you. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me..

  • i still like blake and mirandas version.

  • This song still holds truth for me. I live in a city and I miss a man who lives in the country. Several hundreds of miles away. I love this song. One of my favorites.

  • i drove that john deere tractor for 10 hours a day when this song came out.

  • Don't know why but this song always makes me feel happy...it came out the year I was born, lol.

  • I'm an Okie and we got to see these two perform in a small nightclub in OKC. Great

  • Ahhhhh, if it ain't country, it ain't music!!! If this doesn't prove it, nothing will!!!

  • Brenda Rasnake- Lebanon Virginia- Your the reason God made Virginia and I sure miss you. Can't believe next Nov. 12th it will be 30 years since you walked out of my life. Our senior year in high school and I thought it was going to last forever.

I still love you so very much. Jerry

  • This has to be my all-time number one favorite duet! I LOVE it!!! and it's a great duet to sing. TY for uploading this. I love all the pictures, especially the one of his huge smile on the part about the John Deere tractor.

  • They use to play this song a lot in the early days of the Cowboy, a huge country western nightclub-just a short walk from Disneyland. It was a great club. The owner, Jack Wade, was always fooling around with other types of music. Eventually, he played music that attracted a pretty wild crowd that left him swamped with lawsuits.

  • You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma

  • I worked 10 hours on a John Deere tractor just thinking of you all day...

  • I was born and have spent most of my life in Oklahoma and I've always loved this song. This place is a-o-fucking-k in my book.

  • This is my favorite country duet ever. It's a classic to be listen to years from now. It takes me back so much to the early 80's. What has happened to the whole music scene, especially country. The songs & music today will all be forgotten in a couple of years. What happened to the creativity. Everything sounds pretty much the same. Young people on YouTube discover the older musicians & music of that era & love it, because it's so original.

  • My boyfriend lives in Oklahoma.. :D

  • crowleyridgegirl,. 'Come Monday',. 'Fields of Gold' and 'You're the Reason God made Oklahoma' are accomplished tunes; simple in their guitar-based arrangements yet robust in execution while bewitching in their majesty. Note; Simplicity in a tonal medium is the most difficult to master. These folks are flat-out professionals.

  • @slightofffist yes, that's a good technical intrepretation.I was referring to the feeling, however.I think starsongweaver knows what I mean.

  • Starsongweaver,I can identify. "Come Monday" by Jimmy Buffet and "Fields of Gold" by Sting makes me feel just that same way, many many years later.

  • This is Supreme : )

  • this is just such a lovely song.

  • I love this song!!

  • Love the harmonica...it sounds so lonely.

  • An outstanding video! I have been in love with this beautiful duet since the early 1980's. In the military, I clearly remember scads of folks dancing whenever it was played in a German or American inspired disco in Deutschland. The results were the same, major applause for the artists (Dottie & David) and major league US-German two stepping. Good folks from both countries enjoying great music. I was still just a kid then; but the memories will last until the day I die. Bravo! Cheers! Besten!

  • @BearyHairy , Dottie is Shelly West mom....oops

Yes, she was drop dead gorgious and that voice, that was the first time I heard them do The Reason God Made Oklahoma.

  • You cannot apprieciate a true country song; that touches your soul unless your from the country. You've worked the jobs with sweat on your brows and stinging your eyes. It was hard work, and driving down country roads in a 1958 Chevy truck, heat on you, dust flying behind you.. those were the days. Days that were filled with what made you who you are today. No air conditioning and am radio. Thank you for letting a country girl close her eyes and remember.

  • One of the best duets in country music history!

  • I grew up in Oklahoma. In 1981 when this song came out, I was in college in California, and my then-boyfriend (now ex-husband) was still in Oklahoma.

I'm now in the Pacific Northwest, long divorced, and he's back in Oklahoma again with his second wife, but this song still tears at my heartstrings in a way that very few pieces of music do.

Beautiful song, beautiful performance, real feelings.
