but all i was stating is that here, it is unusual to mobilise out of bed whilst intubated with an et tube.. usually trachys...and thats generally after 1 week as we trachy ppl usually after 1 week due to dead space etc which im sure u will know all about if u work in this environment
@TrishR57 yeah that may be an idea but doesnt happen for everyone.. i work in a neuro icu so dont belittle me.... that may be the way things are done wherever u work but not here, yes we mobilise them -lying in bed is never going to aid recovery,
So do we, patients with Trachys... But patients with ET tubes in tend to be unconscious or semi-consciousnot as automatic reaction with an et tube is to gag and pull out
@lolly16 Early mobilization for ventilated patients decreases mortality, morbidity, and LOS in the ICU and the hospital. You can turn off the sedation and sit them on the side of the bed, and even ambulate them. They will get off the vent quicker.
NOT SURE WHY THE AUDIO WENT AWAY. I HAVE A HARD COPY IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED.

All we are trying to here is show people that it is OK to think outside the box.

Why is he intubated and ventilated awake? What is his disease? If longer ventilation is needed, then why didn't they do a tracheotomy?

The patient was is an actor. Many patient's are awake and weaning prior to getting a trach. Mobilization is important.
