  • A very good work programming this game on the PET and this cool tutorial! But I can't test your game properly on my WinVice (2.3) Pet emulator... I can't see the lines only characters. What emulator are you using? if it's Vice what configuration I need to change to see the game properly? thanks in advance ;)

  • Type in ORDERS? RESEARCH TITO GAME OVER ... I hope it would solve the problem and end the game instantly. ^_^

  • Nice work! If I end up getting a PET this would make a great way to show it off. =]

  • @unixgamerocker Thanks...you can play the game on a PC using the winvice emulator.

  • @GreatNorthWeb oh, I know, I just wanted to run it on original hardware. =]

  • @OBSysteme Thanks for the comment. I have gotten terrific feedback about this game. There is a community of "doers". Check out Jeri Ellsworth and Ben Heck. Those youtubers inspired me prior to producing BioTerror! because of their awesome projects with the old C-64. I attended the CCAG Show in Cleveland yesterday and met many more people who shared your views. I still see the value in these old systems, and I am not alone.

  • this was pretty retro, I enjoyed

  • This is awesome! :)

  • Brilliant game! I am greatly impressed! If this game was written in BASIC, then porting it to the C64 wouldn't be too hard since both have a 40 column display. It would only be a matter changing video RAM locations (and with the C64's programmable character generator, you could get even more detail in the graphics!). In my opinion, had this game been released during the late 70s/early 80s for school software, the PET would have certainly given the Apple II a better run for its money!

  • @senorverde09 The game is written in BASIC1.0. It should play on the c64 with minor changes. The screen positions on the PET start at 32768 and the C64 starts at 1024. I would only need to shift the pokes to the new position and the map should render fine. I was told that if I had written this game in 1977 it would have been a hit...too bad that I didn't start coding until I was 12 though (in 1982).

  • @GreatNorthWeb I would certainly enjoy a C64 port (as that is the more ubiquitous Commodore computer), and you are correct with the C64 video RAM range (now if you want to add color just POKE at 55296 ($D800) on up!!). Yeah, I could have seen this being used in science/biology class, although probably at that time schools probably only had one or two computers kids could learn on!! Again, thanks for this rare treat.

  • It's great to see new software.. well... any software.... on the PET. I have an 8032, but the keyboard needs sorting out.

    Great work :)

  • Wow amazing feat to have done something like this on the old PET.

  • Thanks for your interest. I am updating my download page tonight to include links for VICE.

  • Read the description for the download page.
