  • @62muki- ur a little long winded..i said nothing about hippies asking me rude questions.. demeaning in away she was saying how the rez had no convenience.. and she says "on rez.. my cousins have a heavy accent" what? she has one as well.. no one can take ur identity.. u loose it if u choose to..

  • @HOnaghaahnii- continued -Because normal city people would just accept you as a person, and not ask rude questions about your nationality and your culture. Are you in with the white hippies? Seattle is known for that. so be careful, and watch yourself. They"ll lead you down the wrong path and steal your identity. Just be yourself, and you will be alright.

  • @HOnaghaahnii-how is this video demeaning to you? It's true at least she has the courage to speak out on this issue. And in a way she's right, you just have to be your self, live and be the best you can.How people are asking you all these questions about you being a Native American. You must be gaming around the wrong crowd.continued..

  • Be glad that you have a Navajo accent,I've been living in the city half of my life. I still have a Navajo accent . Better then what some of these Navajos try to talk and act like blacks and Latinos. No matter what or who and where you are You'll always be a Navajo and if your full-blooded Navajo more power to you. I've met a lot of lost white and blacks who say they are Native American, their not poor people!. The best thing for me is I'm Full blooded Navajo and know who I'am,where I come from.

  • I agree.. she does have a thick accent.. Im a navajo living in Seattle.. Yes.. i love my latte and stilettos.. lol Ive been asked so many questions of who i am and of my tribe.. i do speak navajo.. and Ive also lived in my grandmas hogon too.. ive hauled water.. ive cooked over an open fire.. dont like this video of the navajo... its demeaning..

  • @H0naghaahnii Haash dooné’é ńilį́

  • haha for being a "Urban Navajo" your accent is pretty thick

  • I give kudos to Alicia. Good Video. I did hear an accent though, but that is ok. I stopped talking Navajo when I was young and years later, a friend mentioned to me that I had an accent, but that is beside the point. I have much to say, but I will try to narrow it down to a statement. I know who I am and I am satisfied. Urban or rezzed out, no difference. We come from a tribe that adapts well to the surrounding environment. It's just up to you on how you will utilize it. Blessings to you all.

  • All navajos are pretty modern now with internet and satelite television. Just like youth around the country they choose stereotypical identities. Jocks, Cowboys, Gangsters, punks, metalheads, juggaloes, are examples of the different genres that the youth choose as a lifestyle.

  • this rez chick.. is all BS.. you can tell she straight from the rez.. listen to tha way she speaks.. all broken English.. also the way she acts... thats a true rez chick..

  • I heard a different story of why they call Grants called Naatooh Sik'ai'í. His is a cleaner story than what I heard...

  • @daybreakwarrior Oh man, really?

  • um...ok. haha..wow..i grew up near that area. I'm from Pinedale. So knew what the gentleman was talking about. Well as for me, I too, am dine. I do like your documentary. however, i did catch myself rolling my eyes at times...through out parts of the video. although it wasn't bad, i'm just being a critic. I do applaud your video. I only wish i had the opportunity to do something like this soon. I just need to get my hands on a video camera eh. To sort of share my view.

  • Very interesting. I was born and raised on the rez until I was 7. I moved to UT and grew up there and now I'm 18, going to school in WI. It's interesting how much I remember connecting with my past and my roots. Try it don't be so stubborn with having everything be convienent.

  • What do you think might attract adults back to the rez after they've gone outside their community to work or college?

  • I think it's the sense of belonging and trying to connect with your past. Basically having somewhere that you belong, finding your identity is something that is very important to a lot of people.

  • That might be why some kids turn to gangs because they are looking for a place to belong

  • nice video...

    -Frisco the Navajo

  • Alicia, honest documentary coming from an "urban" Navajo. still try and connect to your roots and identity as Navajo, be proud and unique.

  • I feel sorry for her.... poor Alicia, I hope you can find your way...Ma'ii is going to get her>>>>
