I remember the first time i ever saw a roll sign being changed on a bus. I had just gotten off one of Suffolk Transit's 87xx that Suffolk Bus Corp had. It was a strange thing to see the driver have to manually change the sign instead of punching a code into change the sign.
@Kote12TK I grew up with these MCI Classics, the ones that are shown here..They were purchased NOT for local bus service, but for MANHATTEN EXPRESS BUS SERVICE to and from the Bronx, New York. You can tell they are exclusively not a transit bus due to the lack of rear entry doors. The insides are complete with deep cushion seats for the comfort of commuters. I miss these buses sorely.
@styldsteel1 Yet, this particular model doesn't seem like any of the other MCI's, and doesn't even look like a coach bus. Hmm, quite strange how this concept on placing coach bus styled seats and a single entrance on buses that are NOT coach bus structured, is demonstrated on this model, and NEVER demonstrated in Manhattan until around 2009 with WCDOT's Orion 05.501 Suburbans.
@Kote12TK Yes, they were unique you can say. Sad what happened to them though. All but just a few of them that are owned privately such as the one in the video, they were all shredded. Sad part is, they were all driven, in that condition that you see to the recyclers. shame.
@Kaynos I commuted on these buses since they were delivered two and three decades ago. They do not have rear doors cuz they are not local transit buses. They are exclusively for MANHATTAN EXPRESS BUS SERVICE. Very deep cushioned seats and a softer suspension
OMG...i was riding the MCI Bus Company TC40102A on the 7400 2 weeks on a Q23! that bus had a real 6V92N with a Voithturbo D 863.4 DIWA...she is fun to ride on the reg she scream dude!!! she a runner! then i ex-changed to the LIRR Metro subway in coninenial av!
@kingofbronx I'm sorry to say except for some private people who have bought NYBS fishbowls and classics, the rest of them have all been shredded. The bad news is, they were all driven to their deaths.
was that an Amsterdam depot sticker on the side of that MCI?
GWprojects 9 months ago
@GWprojects No, that was a New York Bus Service MCI bus decal sticker, put onto the bus by the owner after it was purchased.

It DOES have the color scheme of a coach bus, however, it seems too much like a local route bus, like a FLXible, or an RTS.

Is that a 40-footer because it looks like 50-feet in this video!
Borat2borat 3 years ago 2
@Borat2borat Both are 40's. They look very long because of the very simple, long lined paint schemes from the NEw York City MTA bus

Excellent video! Those MCI's and fishbowl buses are great.
greekguy1326 3 years ago
What a great video, was the driver purposely revving the engine to impress someone? I also love how its followed by a fishbowl! :)
