  • Jimmy Foxx was great, but Gehrig has got to start. I can name at least 10 -15 pitchers I'd take over Nolan Ryan

  • No Hank Aaron, you are a dumbass.

  • Wheres sandy koufax?!?!?!

  • 1. SS Honus Wagner 2. CF Willie Mays 3. DH Ken Griffey Jr 4. LF Ted Williams 5. RF Reggie Jackson 6. 1B Lou Gehrig 7. 3B Mike Schmidt 8. C Johnny Bench 9. 2B Joe Morgan SP Randy Johnson SP Nolan Ryan SP Tom Seaver SP Curt Schilling SP Burt Blyleven SU Dennis Eckersly CP Mariano Riveria
  • Man 1B is hard. I'd get stuck on Jimmie Foxx or Stan the Man

  • If you think mike shit is better than Alex Rodriguez than your retarted

  • The Bench:

    Barry Bonds LF/CF/RF

    C Mike Piazza

2B/SS Ty Cobb (he was a racist so the club might has some problems)

    1B Lou Gehrig

  • @previnsnaidu1 Ty Cobb wasn't that racist. He just used the N-word a lot of times probably due to him living in the south (& during the Civil War) in his youth. He said he supported black people getting into the majors at one point in his life....

  • 1. LF Rickey Henderson obviously!!!!! The greatest lead off hitter of all time!

    2. RF Ichiro Suzuki He would have the all time hits lead if he started out in the U.S.

    3. CF Willy Mays Greatest Player of all time

    4. DH Babe Ruth He isn't fast enough to play in the field but he is a god.

    5. 1B Jimmie Foxx He was a BEAST

    6. 3B Mike Schmidt He was great in general

    7. 2B Joe Morgan He is the best 2nd baseman of all time.

    8. C Yogi Berra Called an amazing game

    9. SS Ozzie Smith The Wizard!!!

  • That is pretty good. I like it I like Henderson at lead off. He can hit & steal bases. The perfect guy to lead off at the hitting order! LF Ricky Henderson 2B Roger Hornsby CF Willy Mays RF Babe Ruth 1B Lou Gehrig SS Honus Wagner 3B Mike Schmidt C Johnny Bench SP Walter Johnson SP Tom Seaver SP Christy Mathewson SP Lefty Grove SP Sandy Koufax Set Up Wilbur Wood CL Mariano Rivera Bench Warmers 1B Jimmie Foxx C Mike Piazza SP Greg Maddux LF Barry Bonds CF Micky Mantle
  • You forgot Hank Aaron jackass

  • Mickey Mantle needs to be in starting lineup

  • If you're going to ignore the steroids issue then I think you have to start Barry Bonds over Rose. I'd also start Barry in LF and move Ted Williams to DH as defense wasn't Ted's specialty.

Also, Satchel Paige is often considered the greatest RH pitcher ever. He regularly beat All-Star teams of major leaguers made up of some of the greatest players of all-time. Dimaggio said Satchel was the fastest and best he ever faced.

I'd want to get Rickey Henderson in, just to drive the other team crazy.

  • Arod should be on the roster ,Lou Gehrig as starting first baseman, no bonds since he took steroids, and put Joe Morgan on the roster

  • Alltime lineup for the major league SS.Alex Rodriguez 2B.Rogers Hornsby DH.Babe Ruth 1b.Lou Gehrig 3b.Jimmie Foxx Lf.Barry Bonds Rf.Ted Williams Cf.Willie Mays C.Mike Piazza Starting Pitcher Walter Johnson,Three Finger Brown,Ed Walsh,Addie Joss,Christy Mathewson Relief Jonathan Papelbon Setup man Dennis Eckersley Closer Mariano Rivera Bench Players 1b.George Sisler Lf.&Cf.Joe Dimaggio Cf.Mickey Mantle RF.Hank Aaron C.Bill Dickey

  • i know griffey and cobb were center fielders but its my team haha C-Mike Piazza 1st-Lue Gehrig 2nd-Eddie Collins SS-Honus Wagner 3rd-Mike Schmidt LF-Ty Cobb CF-Willies Mays RF-Ken Griffey Jr. DH-Babe Ruth Bench: Ted Williams Barry Bonds Albert Pujols Alex Rodriguez(he can play 3rd or SS) SP-Randy Johnson SP-Greg Maddux SP-Steve Carlton SP-Nolan Ryan SP-Roy Halladay Bullpen: Billy Wagner(need a lefty) Dennis Eckersley Mariano Rivera
  • Gehrig as your back-up first baseman? I would've put him as starting 1B not Foxx.

  • This is an excellent team! Within the lineup, the only real change I would make would be putting Willie Mays at leadoff since he was much faster on the bases than Ted Williams. Plus I think Williams would make the perfect 3rd in the lineup. The only one I would take out would be Tom Seaver and put Sandy Koufax in his place. Other than that, this was a good piece!

  • @BigD27456 The drugs didn't make Bonds actually hit the ball, maybe hit it further. I hate Bonds because he was/is and asshole. But based on his stats, only Ruth has a career WAR better than Bonds. Bonds couldn't hit a good forkball.

  • My team from 1960-2010, RHP-Tom Seaver, LHP-Sandy Koufax, 1B-Willie McCovey, 2B-Joe Morgan, SS-Cal Ripken, 3B-Mike Schmidt, LF-Barry Bonds, CF-Willie Mays, RF-Reggie Jackson, C-Johnny Bench, RLP-Dennis Eckersley, bench-Pete Rose, Joe Mauer, Rod Carew, Tony Gwynn, Hank Aaron, Rickey Henderson, Ozzie Smith, Kirby Puckett, Ron Santo, Goose Gossage, Mariano Rivera, Bruce Sutter, Greg Maddox, Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson, Mickey Lolich, Fergie Jenkins and Wilbur Wood. Reggie won 5 World Series.

  • This was a great list.

  • Babe Ruth would look like a fool if he had to face Lincecum or Halladay. Today's players are so much better than the old-timey guys, it's really not even close. Imagine Walter Johnson pitching to Albert Pujols. NASA would need to track the landing spot.

  • @ChiBoompty You're joking right?

  • OF should be Aaron, Ruth and Bonds (And stop the bashing, Bonds was an ass...and one of the best players ever) agree with choice of Jackie R and Yogi but where is Musial? Pitchers were daft, Ryan overrated and Seaver nowhere close to good enough. Gibson? Clemens?

  • i stopped watching after bonds

  • #1 IchiroRF #2willie mays LF #3joe dimaggio IDK #4 babe ruthDH #5 Ken Griffey Jr.CF #6Ozzie Smith #7Alex Rodriguez 3B #8 Mike Schmidt C #9Ty cobb 2B :D (some positions i dont know sorry.)

  • @fourarms13 Check out Joe Morgan for 2B. In Bill James Historical Abstract, he says Morgan was the best player in baseball from 1973-76 and should have been MVP for each year.

  • ted williams as your lead off hitter? mike schmidt, jackie robinson , and yogi as starters? hmmmm

  • harper will not have half as good as a career as jason heyward is going to, hes going to be one of the best of all time

  • Nolan Ryan wasn't much more then a .500 pitcher ...Pete Rose over Stan Musial ,Hank Aaron ?..Cy Young ..please anyone could throw a straw ball ..Lefty Grove ,Sandy Koufax ,much better

  • You gonna need about 20 billion dollars on your franchise to pay for all these great players!

  • i can see you are a yankee fan!!!!

  • bryce harper will be on this list one day... look him up.. scouts are already saying he could start in the majors, and hes only 17

  • @soonermagic24 yep i get SI and heard bout him through there, he looks excellent....

  • @soonermagic24 your an idiot, your saying a kid who has been in the farm system for 2 months , is going to be on greatest all time team....

  • @steadyrockinmynikes yes i am. its called a prediction. why are you trying to be a youtube cowboy fuckface by calling me an idiot? i hate punks like you.

  • Wow! Nolan Ryan as your #1 starter? And,NO Sandy Koufax even on the team. Also,NO Hank Aaron????What are you smokin'? Joe Morgan over Jackie Robinson by a mile!

  • perfect call on your roster...

LMFAO at the Nolan Ryan haters....

A bunch of jealous libtards mixing politics and baseball

  • thx man

  • @OneTeensSportsShow

No, he isn't. A-Rod would be a good choice at SS though, IMO

  • remember this is a 20 man roster so even though pedro was great he isnt better than these ppl......

  • jeter maybe, but actually im a yankees fan so of course i like a-rod ha.

  • this group would'nt make it out spring training Cobb will fight half of the team Rose will get arrested for betting on whats more valuable Williams head or Wagners baseball card ,Ryan suspensed for punching Yogi in a card game Bonds gets federal charges for selling Steroids to Dimaggio , Eck will be drinking in the clubhouse while Ruth becomes a hot dog eating champion and Willie Mays will be taken to the hospital for dehydration after covering all outfield positions.

  • instead of Honus Wagner at SS I'd go with Ernie Banks or Ozzie

  • Where is Maddux, Clemens, or Koufax.. I agree with Nolan Ryan as the ace but the other 3 could be different.. and DHing Pete Rose? foreal? He played harder than anyone.. Need to be DHing the Babe if anyone.. keep him out of the defense

  • The only reason you would put Robinson on the list is to be politically correct. He was a so so player at best.... just because he was the 1st doesn't make him the best.

  • Lou Gehrig on the bench what an idiot. Jackie Robinson over Roger Hornsby you must know nothing about baseball.

  • i know of a team who can beat them.....the 09 cardinals!

    LOL

  • nice job you know all time lists are very hard to assemble so :D and i lmao'd @ yogi berra pic

  • Good roster, but Nolan Ryan the ace? There are quite a few pitchers better than him. Koufax, Pedro, Christy Mathewson, Clemens, Seaver and Lefty Grove to name a few.

  • There is no chance in hell that Pedro Martinez is or ever will be better than Nolan Ryan. Don't forget 5,716 K's and 7 no-hitters.

  • Nolan Ryan was very inconsistent though. When he was on, he destroyed opposing batters. But in the games he lost, he did really bad. Also, not only did Pedro have a better peak, but he also pitched in an era that was much more favorable to hitters. Even look at his career splits on baseball-reference.

And A-Rod better than Schmidt? Maybe as a hitter, but Schmidt was a better fielder at 3B.

  • had to come back to this post....

you're a fucking MORON....go get a 44 Magnum dickead and blow your brainless head to oblivion

When Pedro has 5714 K's, 7 no-hitters, and has 40 plus MLB records that Nolan has, then you can talk jerk off

Martinez can't even pitch in to his late 30's

Steve Carlton, Randy Johnson, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, and many pitchers are better than Martinez....Pedro won't be elected in the HOF with his lousy career stats

  • Inconsistent???

Nolan Ryan pitched 26 seasons, dickhead

    LMFAO

  • @nparga23

lmao. That means he had longevity. And I was referring to a game-by-game basis. Pedro also had a huge difference in his ERA in losses and wins, but in losses, Pedro's WHIP was around 1.38, so that ERA is pretty unlucky

Ryan had longevity. Pedro's best seasons were more impressive, especially considering the park and era he pitched in

  • I agree...Martinez career is half of the greatest pitcher ever, Nolan Ryan

Ryan has 5714 K's....just in case you debate a Ryan hater

  • You left out Tris Speaker- Some will say Willie Mays was the best CF, but before him, Tris Speaker was the best, & I think edges out Mays. Another old timer I would have to add to my pitching staff- Christy Mathewson. Screw that lowlife Barry Bonds- he doesn't deserve anything but a ticket to the Hall of SHAME. Give me a healthy Ken Griffey Jr.

  • Eeek. You guys are a tough crowd. You'll note that the info box states that this is HIS roster. Not yours. The cool thing about baseball is that with its long, long history, there are more than just 15 greats. For my 2 cents, not many starting pitchers were as dominant as Sandy Koufax (during his relatively short career). And I'd boot Bonds because I don't count any of his stats as anything other than unfortunate statistical skewing of the rest of the players he faced. Good list, though!

  • booo, this team is missing WAY to many players and a few are added that dont deserve it. get your facts right, THEN, make a video. and why the hell is Dennis Eckersly the SET UP man!?!?!? he is better than rivera and who is this Stangel guy?? I say the manager should be Tony Larussa

  • The Eck makes a good case for the best "utility" pitcher of all time - 197 wins and 390 saves. Pretty versatile. I won't fault his pick.

  • great point on eck

  • WFT?!?!?! were is rickey henderson and hank aaron?!?!? you know the stolen base record holder and the HR champion

    (minus MR. Steroid) (bonds)

  • i must admit ricky slipped my man when i made this list, however i have 4 better pitchers than bob gibson, and barry bonds was just unbielivable (steriods or not)

  • hey, check out my alltime team rosters. tell me what you think. i would have probably used pete rose or ty cobb as a leadoff man by i thought it was good

  • Barry Bonds should'nt be allowed to be mentioned in the same list as the other players you have noted. Maybe a great player that hustles, that can actualy play his postion, and is unquestionable the ultimate lead-off man...Ricky Hendersen

  • hey, with all due respect to ted williams, he was never known for his fielding.

  • First of all Ken Griffey Jr. should be your other bench outfielder, not Barry Bonds. Minus injuries Griffey's numbers would actually be better than Bonds (and Mays too, actually).

Also, no Bob Gibson? You really don't want him in your top 4?

Realistically speaking, there is no man on this earth your would rather have leadoff than Rickey Henderson. More runs and SB's than any other player in history. He just simply got it done.

I suppose I'm overanalyzing it, but you would want Henderson.

  • "RICKY RUN" Ricky was awsome!!! The only guy ever to score a run in an inning that had no hits and no errors and only one walk. Also he got a RBI out of the deal.

  • hank aaron and dimagio have to be starters. bond was on roids. no chance this is.

  • Uhhhh Connie Mack anyoe?

  • Maybe one could simply assemble a "Coaching Staff" as opposed to just a manager? Then we could get Connie Mack on there too!

  • Hmmm works for me so we can also squeeze in John McGraw

  • put Hank Aaron at DH and take out rivera and add koufax. My ace would be Bob Gibson. he was the most intimidating pitcher to ever live. And Roberto Clemente instead of Bonds. but otherwise its a good team. Putting togetehr the best all time team is tough.

  • no know someone is going to say i must be stupid for saying this but I think Ken Griffey Jr. when in his prime was just as good as willie Mayes.

  • Someone is going to say I must be stupid for saying this but I think Ken Griffey Jr. when in his prime MAY HAVE BEEN BETTER than Willie Mays. If it weren't for injuries Griffey would be right around the HR record right now not to mention his defense (back when he could actually run) was just as good as Mays. We have emotional attachments to legends just because they did it first, but Griffey in the 90's was truly unbelievable.

  • What about brooks robbinson, mickey mantel?

  • Good choices but here is how I would tweek it. I think Johnny Bench would have better than Berra. I think you put Cobb in the starting lineup batting first ahead of Williams and put Rose on the bench. I think you drop Johnson for Koufax and switch Gehrig into the starting lineup and put Foxx on the pine. You'll need four starters so what about Christy Matthewson? And as far as stats go, you'd want Rogers Hornsby instead of Jackie, but Jackie is a great choice.
