I love how its like L is on sugar overdose ........i wonder why that never actually happens to him....i mean he eats sweets in almost every episode hes in.
@raven23237 He doesn't actually O.D. in the series because of how he sits. When you're in that squatting/crouching position that L claims helps with his deductive skills, your body uses up more energy because of it's unnatural positioning. This keeps L's sugar levels normal because his body's shape is countering the massive intakes of sugar that he gets from all the sweets; therefor, he never has sugar crashes or sugar hallucinations. Hopefully this helps.
@reater70 I think he could just see Ryuk. for 5 secend- And thencRyuk would leave becuse the Death Note is gone- AND Light will have no memory of it. AND the killings whould stop. SMART RYUZAKI!

You know why Light got caught? He wasn't creative enough in his cause of death. Of course they're going to notice if a bunch of criminals all die of heart attacks, he should have a shuffle of diseases to use on each kill... then it wouldn't have been a surprise when L would of died of ketoacidosis.
@ballerina2rockerchik Same I thought that too, but I think the reason why Light did that was so that everyone knew that there was a god out there doing that stuff. ._. Oh..er...I dunno. Something like that...
You missed the point he made early on. He wanted to become noticed; that's why he made everyone die of heart attack. It was like his signature or something. So every time a criminal died of heart attack, people, whether they supported him or not, would know that Kira did it.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic Which is exactly why he got caught, if he had been content with simply being the unseen god that exterminates the scum of society and not wanted to be recognized he could have continued on for a long time without being caught but people would still know that there is a force killing off criminals. Light is just too egotistical to be god. Misa would have been a better god if it weren't for the fact that she's incredibly stupid.
Good point. But since he killed so many people a day, it would've been extremely time-consuming to specify each death. You're right, he probably wouldn't have gotten caught if he hadn't done it. But he was so bored and sick of the world at the beginning of the series that I guess he didn't care about the consequences, and wanted to challenge his own wits by getting away with becoming a world-widely recognized mass murderer.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic No, that's wrong. 1- Large ammounts of accidental death is just as conspicuous as mass heart attacks and 2- This was never about justice. It was just him fufilling his own egotistic desires.
That's your opinion. I'm sure that he didn't do it for himself, but for the greater good, because he was so intelligent that he knew that somebody had to stop the course world had taken with criminals running freely unpunished. To be honest, I would have done the same as him.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic No, it's obviously not. It's clearly an egotistic desire. He desires to be God that punishes whoever goes against him, regardless of if they are evil or not. This means that L, even though he does good by solving crimes, deserves to die simply because he doesn't agree and does something about it. It's clear from his fear of his own death, his speech against Lind L. Tailor, and his reaction to being called evil that he is simply feeding his own ego.
Either way the point of the story is not to say whether Light was right or wrong. The original author himself has said that Light himself was the victim of Death Note. Before he found it, he had the perfect chances to become a great detective, or anything he ever wanted, thanks to his superior intelligence. But when he found the Death Note, his life became that of a criminal, which ultimately ruined any chances for his future happiness. Over time D Note's power corrupted his character
You can clearly see how he recalls how he used to be before he found the Death Note, in the last episode. So basically the moral is that too much power corrupts even the strongest of us. But I still would have done the same as Light, except that God part.
Light had to get rid of L, because he had no other choice. If he had done nothinf about the world's greatest detective being after him, and suspecting him in particular, he would definitely have gotten caught and killed in the very beginning.
Furthermore, Light didn't necessarily want to become a God in the first place. His very first victim was just him being bored and trying the Death Note for the fun of it. But once he realized it really worked, he had no other choice but to continue using it, because just one victim meant he wouldn't go to heaven or hell, and he had unintentionally murdered someone already. He wanted to make his life worth something, unlike the parasites of society, and started killing criminals...
It is not said directly, but it is also a possibility that Light had religious reasons for what he did. Maybe he thought that God himself had chosen him to rid the rotten world of evil and make it a paradise like it was in the very beginning? Maybe Light thought that God had forsaken the rotten world for what it had become, and he (Light) would have to fix things, since he had been given as a sign an inhuman power that he could use for a good purpose? There are many many possibilities
@SurvivorsOfTitanic Wow, you are seriously misunderstanding. I don't care what he had to do, if you payed even half a wit at his speeches of self righteousness, you would know it's his own ego. Stop skipping around the point. There is absolutely nothing else to it and your inferences are over complicating things. He did it for his ego, the end. Also, you should read the MANGA, not just watch the anime. Light deduces there is no heaven or hell in it. Seriously, that is poor inference.
Maybe I wasn't all correct with my guesses and whatnot, but you know that having a big ego isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is, in fact, an important part of the self-reliant mind. You would know that had you read Anthem by Ayn Rand. It is basically about a 'dystopian' communist society where no one's free to think with mind and ideas of their own. The main character escapes and becomes enlightened, self-reliant discoverer of the sacred word, "ego", which was a taboo in his old home.
No, I directly answered your accusation/misconception about ego being a bad thing. Your reply was marked a spam (by someone other than me) because you could not come with a counterargument. The ball is in your court now. You can choose to either continue this argument by justifying your earlier points and eliminating mine, but I doubt you want to or even can.
2nd- You are avoiding the question by attempting to draw attention away from the fact that Light is not righteous and instead accusing me of not being able to comprehend the greatness of self absorption
3rd- As a result, the meaning and context associated with the word ego is completely irrelevant to the argument as we are discussing his intentions rather than if it is necessary to have such intention
"I retract statement 1 but I am confident that you marked it."
Believe what you want, but I see no reason to mark as a spam the comments of someone I'm discussing with. First of all, I don't even see how it would benefit me. If someone is a real spammer or continuously harrasses me, I simply block the user and let the domain take care of his/her comments. On the other hand, if I run into actual spams that are irrelevant to the video, I obviously them as spam.
1. Your latest reply (the one posted 4 days ago) is marked as a spam, whether you choose to admit it or not.
2. You never asked any questions. You presented your viewpoint about Light's motivation being his ego. I misunderstood at first, thinking that you were arguing that what he did was wrong, and thus attempted to justify his actions, but I later realized and corrected my mistake by pointing out that there's nothing wrong with big ego.
3. I don't care what you think his intention was unless you have a solid proof (chapter or episode, timestamp or page #) to back up your argument about Light's intention being to fill his egoistic desire. Until you can prove yourself, the things you've said thus far remain as mere opinions.
4. You still didn't ask any questions. There is not a single question mark in any of the replies you've posted.
1. If you read the edit, you would know that I retracted this statement.
2. Incorrect. You still misunderstand. I am arguing that his intention isn't to only cleanse the world
3. I already did. Read the last few chapters of the manga like I said. Furthermore, read chapter 2 and tell me his ranting on how he is God and L is evil for opposing him is not egotistic. It's been accepted for a long time already.
4. Exactly. Why the hell should I ask questions anyway?
2. "You still misunderstand. I am arguing that his intention isn't to only cleanse the world"
What else was it then? And don't start talking about that ego stuff again; I get it already. Since this is the point you're trying to argue you should have made it clear in the first place, because all I could make out of your rambling was that Light did what he did for his ego.
4. That is a good question, considering that you yourself told me to answer the 'question' that was never asked.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic 2. See? You already get it. I'm saying that he is not as 'righteous' as you make him out to be. It was clear from the start. You simply decided to interpret my first comment as a COMPLETE denial of your statement which in't true at all.
If you seriously think that Light is such a bad person, you haven't seen much animes. He is literally the kindest person on earth compared to Makoto from School Days, for example. Light's intention didn't matter as long as the outcome was good, but Makoto only sought for his own pleasure and happiness while destroying the happiness of others.
Light was making the world a better place by decreasing crime occurence, which, regardless of his intentions, was a great thing. On the other hand, characters like those in School Days, Denpa Teki na Kanojo, Paranoia Agent and True Tears only seek for their own interest, ignoring the fact that they are causing problems to others. In Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, there's a cycle of vengeance with the characters forcing their own suffering on others.
My point being that even if Light used the Death Note partially for himself, he did so for an altruistic purpose. There are a lot anime characters out there that are 1000 times more selfish and contemptible than he is. Yet you talk about him like he's some kind of monster. Check the animes I listed and you may see him in a different light.
Once again, you are getting ahead of yourself. Arguing that I think light is a bad person but is not is bad as others doesn't answer the question. STOP and think for a second as to how other animes IN ANY WAY affect the judgement of light's character. Furthermore, if you REALLY want to argue results, then you can easily say that he never thought about how he too was stripping others of human rights. At this point, all you're doing is criticizing me for not thinking like you.
Now hold on a second! It's completely unjustified of you to allege I that I'm critisizing you for anything. I am only sharing my anime knowledge to show examples of who really are bad people in different series. This is my opinion, but with all the experience I have with different personalities, I think that Light is not one of them.
The characters in the animes I listed are portrayed as evil monsters, overtaken by flaws of human nature like greed.
On the other hand, Death Note doesn't really have a clear villain, so it is up to the viewer to decide who to support. I never tried to change your opinion by comparing Light to other characters. I'm just saying that he isn't portrayed as a villain, but as a good person currupted by power. I said this already, and I'll say it again; the original author himself saw Light as the victim of the Death Note.
"Furthermore, if you REALLY want to argue results, then you can easily say that he never thought about how he too was stripping others of human rights. "
So you think that people who callously strip others of such rights by murdering or raping them deserve such rights any more than Light himself? I don't think it's wrong to punish people who commit unforgivable crimes. That's what a God should do, but since it wasn't the case, Light chose to fill the role.
"Arguing that I think light is a bad person but is not is bad as others doesn't answer the question."
You yourself said "Why the hell should I ask questions anyway?" I already answered that, and you have not asked anything after that. Without a question it's difficult to answer, you know?
@SurvivorsOfTitanic Yet he strip the rights from the innocent (the FBI agents for example) and the right to change. You are obviously criticizing me by contrasting your views with my own using the word 'yet'. Light is the clear villian and is stated so by the authors in volume 13.
I'm contrasting our views, yes, but never did I say that my opinion was the only truth, nor was I critisizing you. I challenged your argument with a strong argument, trying to see whether or not you could counter it. I don't understand why you keep misinterpreting it as critisizing you.
Light isn't the villain; he becomes the villaing, which is exactly the point of the series; to show how even the most promising and intelligent person can have a miserable life when misled by power.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic I am going to end this conversation: You are HEAVILY IMPLYING THE CONCEPT THAT YOUR OPINION IS BETTER. THE AUTHORS SAID THAT THE SERIES WAS FOR FUN, NOT TO EXPRESS ANY MORALITY, AND THAT LIGHT IS CLEARLY THE VILLAIN; THIS IS NOT DEBATABLE. READ VOLUME 13. YOU CHALLENGED MY ARGUMENT WITH A WEAK ARGUMENT. IT IS WEAK BECAUSE IT DOESN'T ADDRESS THE TOPIC OF DEBATE. THE END. HAVE A NICE DAY AND STAY IN SCHOOL.
Don't rape the capslock, buddy. I understand you're getting frustrated with no way of denying my point. The following is a quote from wikipedia (I know, not the most trustworthy source, but anyway) "Ohba described Light's life as "ruined" once he obtained the Death Note, and that Light became a victim of the Death Note "in many ways". You do realize that the illustrator of the manga isn't the same guy who did the original story? Thus whatever is said in volume 13 is trivial.
You have no way of denying that Light wasn't a good person at the start of the series. I repeat what I've already concluded many times; he became the villain as the huge amount of power given by the Death Note corrupted his character, but would have had a great life otherwise. He BECOMES the villain, and whether or not Ohba himself intended it to carry out a morale with his eventual demise, the ending did so effectively.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic ENOUGH. OBVIOUSLY HE BECOMES THE VILLAIN. DOES THIS MEAN THAT IT IS A MORAL TO EXPRESS IN THE STORY? HOW ABOUT A BETTER POINT? IT DOESN'T MATTER!
1- Shut up and read the 13th volume because there is no intended moral. THIS ISN'T ARGUABLE. READ IT BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T, YOUR ARGUMENT IS OUT THE WINDOW.
2- He isn't righteous. You already admitted as such. I win. Goodbye. Shut up. I'm not going to reply anymore because all you know how to do is spout irrelevant information.
Oh, and saying that you end the conversation, and doing so on a negative note, is childish, as you are only willing to get the last word and avoid further debate, probably because you can't counter my arguments.
@SurvivorsOfTitanic I am ending the conversation because you are an idiot. I don't care for the last word; I only care to stop talking to self absorbed morons who think that they are masters of argument when in reality, they are spouting information completely irrelevant to the argument. We were talking about if he was righteous or not, NOT about your opinions. As you have already admitted that he isn't righteous and refuse to read, you are worthless to argue towards. You lose.
@ballerina2rockerchik Massive death tolls by accidents are just as unusual as massive death tolls by heart attacks. The difference is that the former is less obviously so to the public.
@decoy134 Less obvious to the public and harder to prove by the police. It would go noticed, but no one would be able to prove it let alone come up with a feasible way it would be possible. But really Light would have lasted so much longer if he hadn't killed Lind L. Taylor. I don't think anyone, ANYONE, would be stupid enough to kill someone with a heart attack (or anything else) while they're on camera telling the 'world' that they know that you're killing off criminals with heart attacks.
@ballerina2rockerchik Neither can you prove heart attacks aren't accidents. Killing Lind L. Tailor wouldn't have actually reduced his time by much as Lind was a real criminal. Furthermore, using accidents would likely be a worse option. Also, from the death of many accidents, you can determine that Kira can kill in a variety of ways instead of the usual heart attack that everyone believed to be his only method.
@ballerina2rockerchik Nah, it was Light's original intention. If all criminals didn't die because of heart attack, all people will just think it was a coincidence. But if all criminals died because of heart attack, even the stupidest person will know that crime is being eradicated by someone.... And thus, Kira was born...
@ballerina2rockerchik I thought the point was that he wanted people to notice. His theory was if people realized someone was killing criminals, they'd stop committing crimes.
@Kateycat8 It actually was a joke but a lot of people took me seriously and ever since I posted it I've gotten millions of comments back regarding why I am terribly terribly wrong. I was just trying to say that L would have died a diabetes related premature death even if he hadn't been killed because of his involvement with the Kira case.
@ballerina2rockerchik Yeah, you have a point. It he had made them die of diseases and have accidental deaths and crud Kira might have never been made. And then he actually wouldn't have had to kill L if no one ever suspected someone was causing the deaths of criminals. But then Death Note wud be a pointless show :)
@ballerina2rockerchik He used the heart attack to show off to the world that he exists. If he used diseases as causes of death being recognized would take long.
@ballerina2rockerchik he PURPOSELY killed them with heart attacks, remember? it wasn't that he wasn't
creative enough, but rather his pride that killed him. Even after L found out that he's in kanto region after killing Lind L taylor L couldn't have closed into Light in the first place if Light didn't try to kill him in such a haughty way (haha i have a way of hacking into police comps? lol L i'm so much better)
@ballerina2rockerchik yes but he intended for criminals to die in this way to spread fear throughout people,thus making them submissive to his will. explained?
@gunneryuna46 No not really. Rem didnt kill L for light , but light made it so he didnt have any choice considering it was to save Misa's life. So technically Rem killed L not light.
@loner6565 Seeing Mello would've been better.

@SurvivorsOfTitanic Now you're just avoiding the question.

@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@SurvivorsOfTitanic 1st- Nothing of mine is marked as spam
2nd- You are avoiding the question by attempting to draw attention away from the fact that Light is not righteous and instead accusing me of not being able to comprehend the greatness of self absorption
3rd- As a result, the meaning and context associated with the word ego is completely irrelevant to the argument as we are discussing his intentions rather than if it is necessary to have such intention
4th- YOU ARE AVOIDING THE QUESTION
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134 EDIT- I retract statement 1 but I am confident that you marked it.

@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@SurvivorsOfTitanic
4. Exactly. Why the hell should I ask questions anyway?
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@SurvivorsOfTitanic 2. See? You already get it. I'm saying that he is not as 'righteous' as you make him out to be. It was clear from the start. You simply decided to interpret my first comment as a COMPLETE denial of your statement which in't true at all.
4. No, you see, that's the question.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
Once again, you are getting ahead of yourself. Arguing that I think light is a bad person but is not is bad as others doesn't answer the question. STOP and think for a second as to how other animes IN ANY WAY affect the judgement of light's character. Furthermore, if you REALLY want to argue results, then you can easily say that he never thought about how he too was stripping others of human rights. At this point, all you're doing is criticizing me for not thinking like you.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
"Arguing that I think light is a bad person but is not is bad as others doesn't answer the question."
You yourself said "Why the hell should I ask questions anyway?" I already answered that, and you have not asked anything after that. Without a question it's difficult to answer, you know?
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@SurvivorsOfTitanic Yet he strip the rights from the innocent (the FBI agents for example) and the right to change. You are obviously criticizing me by contrasting your views with my own using the word 'yet'. Light is the clear villian and is stated so by the authors in volume 13.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
THE END. HAVE A NICE DAY AND STAY IN SCHOOL.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@decoy134
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
I win. Goodbye. Shut up. I'm not going to reply anymore because all you know how to do is spout irrelevant information.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134
Oh, and saying that you end the conversation, and doing so on a negative note, is childish, as you are only willing to get the last word and avoid further debate, probably because you can't counter my arguments.
SurvivorsOfTitanic 1 year ago
@SurvivorsOfTitanic I am ending the conversation because you are an idiot. I don't care for the last word; I only care to stop talking to self absorbed morons who think that they are masters of argument when in reality, they are spouting information completely irrelevant to the argument. We were talking about if he was righteous or not, NOT about your opinions. As you have already admitted that he isn't righteous and refuse to read, you are worthless to argue towards. You lose.

@ballerina2rockerchik Massive death tolls by accidents are just as unusual as massive death tolls by heart attacks. The difference is that the former is less obviously so to the public.
decoy134 1 year ago
@decoy134 Less obvious to the public and harder to prove by the police. It would go noticed, but no one would be able to prove it let alone come up with a feasible way it would be possible. But really Light would have lasted so much longer if he hadn't killed Lind L. Taylor. I don't think anyone, ANYONE, would be stupid enough to kill someone with a heart attack (or anything else) while they're on camera telling the 'world' that they know that you're killing off criminals with heart attacks.
ballerina2rockerchik 1 year ago
@ballerina2rockerchik Neither can you prove heart attacks aren't accidents. Killing Lind L. Tailor wouldn't have actually reduced his time by much as Lind was a real criminal. Furthermore, using accidents would likely be a worse option. Also, from the death of many accidents, you can determine that Kira can kill in a variety of ways instead of the usual heart attack that everyone believed to be his only method.
decoy134 1 year ago
@ballerina2rockerchik
But, if alot of criminals randomly got diseases, wouldn't that of been noticable to? They discovered he can control the way of death too.
LostAndForgottenSoul 1 year ago
@LostAndForgottenSoul
And Light said during te series that he thougt that a hert attack was the least painfull way to die. So that was his way of behng a GOOD killer.
MelanieAnouska 1 year ago
@ballerina2rockerchik Nah, it was Light's original intention. If all criminals didn't die because of heart attack, all people will just think it was a coincidence. But if all criminals died because of heart attack, even the stupidest person will know that crime is being eradicated by someone.... And thus, Kira was born...
Bazerald777 1 year ago
@ballerina2rockerchik I thought the point was that he wanted people to notice. His theory was if people realized someone was killing criminals, they'd stop committing crimes.

Kateycat8 10 months ago
@Kateycat8 It actually was a joke but a lot of people took me seriously and ever since I posted it I've gotten millions of comments back regarding why I am terribly terribly wrong. I was just trying to say that L would have died a diabetes related premature death even if he hadn't been killed because of his involvement with the Kira case.
ballerina2rockerchik 10 months ago
@ballerina2rockerchik Yeah, you have a point. It he had made them die of diseases and have accidental deaths and crud Kira might have never been made. And then he actually wouldn't have had to kill L if no one ever suspected someone was causing the deaths of criminals. But then Death Note wud be a pointless show :)
ravensgirl09 10 months ago
@ballerina2rockerchik He used the heart attack to show off to the world that he exists. If he used diseases as causes of death being recognized would take long.
DstileSK8 10 months ago
@ballerina2rockerchik he PURPOSELY killed them with heart attacks, remember? it wasn't that he wasn't
creative enough, but rather his pride that killed him. Even after L found out that he's in kanto region after killing Lind L taylor L couldn't have closed into Light in the first place if Light didn't try to kill him in such a haughty way (haha i have a way of hacking into police comps? lol L i'm so much better)
