still can't stand the stupid crapola banter..."that was great neil...gosh that was just fabulous...jeeze neil....you're the best..." chad must be scared that someone is waiting for his seat on the throne...
even funnier...."that was cool man...there's alot of information there..."
WHAT...a toss away 3 chord song on a pretty bad neil album...lots of musical information...blowing smoke, man, blowing smoke...true neil fans can admit his strengths and his weaknesses....this project is a weakness
No one thinks about a project as a 'weakness' while they're creating it.
And while Chad may well adore Neil's music, it's not his job to be a "genuine fan." He gets paid to play the drums for Neil. And since he's been playing the drums for Neil for 20+ years now, it seems to be working out for both of them.
Leave the exacting musical dissection to the message boards.

Okay putting aside this is some famous revered singer...
What we really have here us a fat loud ugly off-key has been Ahole with amateur lyrics getting warmed up for the nursing home amateur hour.
Get a damn agent, then get the damn image consultant, then a songwriter and then do the background vocals cause let me tell you...this video is an embarrassment.
No, what we have here is a raw clip of a recording session. One of his artistic statements, continued on other albums, is that songs shouldn't need to be overproduced for their power to come across. For me, that power does come across. Why should what he's singing about be all polished up when it isn't in real life? Can't say the lyrics are amateur, with the juxtaposition at some points in the song and the fact that they convey exactly what he wants. And what does being ugly have to do with it?
Gooooooooooodddddddd like it

Chad Cromwell hasn't aged a bit since the 1989 Rockin in the Free World video -

I love Neil, but can't stand his drummer blowing smoke up his ass...gimmie a break...

@raindep Like Neil Young couldn't toss a coin in the air and have fifty drummers lined up to record with him. The man's a living legend.
That drummer is Chad Cromwell. He's been working with Neil since 1987.

Or he just could genuinely love the song. You have to allow that is at least a theoretical possibility.

@Consumer007 I know this is an old comment, but it is really, really funny that you think Neil Young needs a SONGWRITER. :D Thanks for the giggle!
There's a place for people like you, and it's called American Idol. There's another place that wouldn't know true genius if it sat on their faces.

American Indians in the studio record Neil Young's "kiss my ass" song directed at his own generation, and the media.
