I believe that the vaganova people have not only matched but surpassed this level, komleva would be crashed if she read your post... as far as the terekhova is concern her cabriolle is lovely however while executting jettes she sacrifised distance for extentions.
@staszekgobi Thanks for your reply. Do you have a record to support your statement? Besides I would expect Komleva to teach Terekhova to dance the part. I meant that I did not see decent performance in the current generation of dancers. Myrtha is a classic dance of the ultimate complexity. Even 'greek goddess' Kandaurova looks mediocre in it. Vaganova school perhaps do not realise that they loose/or in fact have lost skills in preparation classic dancers of the highest level.
i used to work with komleva in edmonton and minniapolis so please understand that i view gabriela as an amazing human being which she is, komleva has tought many girls that became top dancers and i believe that my back ground is sufficient enough to support my record.
i have had so many discussions over the vaganova versus r.a.d. and other "giants" in the industry but the only way i can explain to any body why aggripina's system is the best is you google 10 best dancers since 1960' and chances are that 8 or more are from vaganova back ground.
@staszekgobi you neither answered my question nor sticked to the point. I know that Vaganova system is the best and out of 10 best female dancers in the world 10 (not 8!) will be from this school by a margin. It does not help me much to see a great dancer when I want to see Myrta. We Russians understand ballett and demand from our dancers perfection. They are the best because they must work very hard to live to our expectations. We know how parts should be performed because we saw.
Terekhova always sets the standards for all the roles she dances. She is, by far, the best Myrtha, Gamzatti and Kitri (I've ever seen). Perfect technique and awe-inspiring characterization. Ever see her black swan on a compliation DVD from a Japanese gala mixed program/late 80's or early 90's? - the dancing is perfect and no one comes close to what she delivers dramatically.
This woman is out of this world. She truly resembles a mythical creature. She doesn't dance. She floats in the air.

That is how this part must be done! Why would not Vaganova professors watch this video and bring up anyone to match? Fot thirty years!
