  • Where is the song from?

  • i'm here thanks to JEAN DUJARDIN ! Vive la France !

  • What an utter star.

  • So, he WAS named after his Grandfather's dog!?

  • Combine Goofy with Jackie Chan and you wont come even close

  • 1:16 wasn't Seven Chances. I just watched that and it's not in there. Is it perhaps Three Ages?

  • What A Legend!

  • Greatest clown ever to live

  • Sorry. Pratfall. Heh. However you spell it, the man was a genius. Still makes me wonder "How the feck did he do that?!" Brilliant.

  • King of the pratt falls. My grandfather was a huge fan of Keaton. Made me one, as well. Phenomenal performer. Never will be another quite like him. Great tribute. Love the music.

  • a beautifully put together video - great upload! nick

  • 1:11 Buster Keaton - Hard Jumper??? Who knew he was for the Harder Stylez? Well, that and failing at Parkour......

  • So glad you put this video back on :) I love it ! Hope you are well :)

  • 840 (and counting) are touched by genius.

  • 14 here are adults.

  • whats the one where he grabs onto the moving truck?

  • ..increible.

  • I wonder how many bones he's broken over the years. His stunts are absolutely incredible, and it's amazing that he lived through some of them. A true genius! I love this man =D

  • One boy at school was being difficult in drama when we were miming, he said that it wasn't real acting, I should have shown him this!!!

  • AMAZING! I absolutely love him and I thank my dad for introducing all of these to me!

  • Thank you! for an unexplainable reason I drop some tears wiatching that clip

  • @ 1:47 I could swear that man standing in the foreground was Stan Laurel....

  • This man was a génius !

    Thanks

  • LOL at 1:11 xD

  • Buffy seeason 3 brought me here ha…the first thing I thought was 'it's like that era's Jackie Chan.'

Both are great at what they do.

Apparently Keaton didn't have the current tech and know-how Jackie did, so he paved the way it would seem.

…not to get all Buzz Killington on everybody ha.

  • @nlawson2004 You do realize that Jackie Chan quotes Buster Keaton as one ofhis biggest influences, and that many of his stunts are re-creations of Buster's (and other silent comedians like Harold Lloyd) ?

  • @nlawson2004 buster was the godfather and pioneer of action-stunts.would be a ernest concurrent for jackie Chan even today.

  • Buster Keaton was the greatest silent comedian ever; everyone else pales in comparison.

  • Awesome.

  • @rieg10 Metro Goldwyn Mayer (the company with the lion head opening credits) . Keaton used to make/direct his own movies without any script and they were great and popular. But later his film producer Mr. Schenck left United Artists and joined MGM, unfortunately Buster Keaton followed him. The studio then forced Keaton to follow their scripts and it changed his style. The new movies were not succesful and Keaton's career ended.

  • @gautamon - Well, I heard that those films were successful (the public at the time liked them), but Keaton's frustration at not controlling his films made him into an alcoholic, and THAT'S why MGM got rid of him.

  • go ed best ever xxx ...............what .?

  • I want to play poker with Buster Keaton.

  • azum vid!

  • 1:57 so f'ing great

  • The great great great Buster Keaton!

  • How the hell did he do all this? He seems to defy the known laws of gravity.

  • What's 1:46 from?

  • 1:39 that fall is hilarious! lol!

  • I just saw this documentary couple days ago :D

  • leej70,

Yes, I LOVE that little dance at 1:11!! Hilarious!

  • Comment removed

  • wow i never saw him before, HE'S AMAZING!!!

  • Great tribute video. Nice job.

  • the little dance at 1:11 is just too funny !!!!!!!!

  • The man was a genius. He turned falling down into an art form.

  • does anyone know which buster keaton featured him being chased by a cop and the cop looks under a basket and finds kittens?

  • @GarySpatzScam That's his short film The Neighbours.

  • Comment removed

  • Some of those scenes make it look like Buster was the world's first breakdancer!

  • @eatyerbeans HAHAHA I was about to say the exact same thing.

  • One of THE all time greats. Nowadays, most actors are practically spoiled brats whose attitudes and work standards are not worthy of comparison to the late Buster Keaton. I just wish the local stores would have silent movies, some are hard to locate.

  • @Ellipser well you can't compare, their backgrounds are different. buster's parents were clowns and acrobats.

  • What's the music called? I really like it too.

  • @highcommander3rdrock The music came from a Buster Keaton Documentary called Buster Keaton: A Hard Act To Follow

  • @drmoonrat Composed by the great Carl Davis.

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • @7hs3beat it's the theme from a documentray called Buster Keaton; A Hard Act To Follow.

  • @drmoonrat It was composed by Carl Davis and is called "The Stoic--Buster Keaton's Rag", on the "Hollywood" soundtrack. Recorded as an LP that can be found on eBay, it would be terrific to have the score released on cd.

  • Its impossible to do what he does. When he span on his head falling over, no way, total magician.

  • mierda!!!!!!!

como hizo la escena del minuto 1:18!!!?????

    me mato loco

    excelente

  • keaton es solo keaton el mejorrr de su epoca

  • @kategloria25 ¿El mejor de su época? es el más grande en todas las épocas.

  • @CINE1941 Convengo

  • This is absolutely fantastic - well done! As a huge BK fan I can really appreciate this and can tell that a true fan made this. It really captured the spirit of Buster himself. Again, superb!

  • AFter he falls when he cuts the board on the side of the building..note the way he hits the ground...with his feet shooting straight up into the air...a signature Keaton move...

  • i think i saw this guy at the museum of science nd industry. kinda funny. cgi is way better.

  • @mschmidt163 CGI nothing! This is Buster Keaton! Fuck CGI!

  • @mschmidt163

We know what you're up to....

    Youtube Hi-jinks....

  • @mschmidt163 cgi is the devil.

  • @mschmidt163

CGI, are you insane? These are real skills, best stuntman in the world. EVER.

  • @CaptainARR sorry but, What's CGI?

  • @CristJianZild

I take it that you're being sarcastic but you can never know for sure on youtube so.. CGI means computed generated imagery.

  • @CaptainARR

    Computer*

  • @CaptainARR oh, now i got it (the top rated comment)... thanks, I didn't know that =)

  • Even today this guy would be great, and not only was he doing these tricks, but he was inventing a lot of the techniques to be able to even make them possible. Pretty amazing.

  • I wonder if folks back then appreciated the sheer boldness of these stunts.

  • how did they do the hurricane scenes ?

  • @nerdflanders8710 They used close to eight airplane engines that were the most powerfull they could find for the day. There was also alot of creative engineering on some of the building collapses.

  • I kinda grew up watching Buster Keaton do TV work: commericals, shows like "Candid Camera," etc. Then I got to watch some of his silent-film work. On another YouTube site spotlighting his work, someone asked what I gotta ask now: "How the hell did he DO all that?"

  • @WSenator1 He was a master beyond anyone's imagination. The guy could take a fall up untill the day he died.

  • from wich film is 0:48 from?

  • @HolyRamsele It's called "The Cameraman". It was Keaton's first Movie under his contract with MGM. It was also the last time he had any controll over his movies for years to follow. Great film.

  • I really want to watch this documentary and I can't find it anywhere...he was so amazing.

  • @pelytcb I found some VHS copies at my local library which are availibe on Amazon, but the DVD's are only made and sold in the UK and are PAL format that doesn't play well in US dvd players.

I've not been able to find the whole documentray veiwable online, but it's a really great treat.

  • It's sad that we don't have actors like these anymore. :(

  • very very nice

  • Oh my Goodness, this guy is so limber!

He's very talented. I must go watch more...

  • 1:10

    hahahhahah

  • whats the song called?

  • damn funny :DDDD

  • the truly arty stunning man! myth and metamorphosis. precise absurdity. love longing and sorrow.

  • Keaton was a master artist; Carl Davis does a great and fitting score there.

  • oh that was really awesome...please suggest some funniest Buster Keaton movies....I really wanna see more of him...

  • Check out "One Week" then maybe "The Goat"

Also see "Sherlock Jr." and for feature length movies. "The General" and "Steamboat Bill Jr."

  • Thanks a lot!

    Will surely check it.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • @drmoonrat Thanks. I will check those out too!

  • my favorite is "The Pale Face"

prolly seen as slightly racist by todays standards, but a great piece of comedy nonetheless.

  • Hollywood did make a movie about Buster. He didn't like it.

Why mess with a great thing already....

  • Yes, it was called "The Buster Keaton Story" and was mostly a fictional drama about his achoholism, but it did buy Keaton a nice home.

  • whats this music called?

  • As far as I know, it's just Buster Keaton's theme. I think it was composed by Carl Davis, originally for the documentary, Comedy - A Serious Business which you should definitely watch. It's on youtube. He seems to have a theme for every silent comedian, Davis.

  • The music was composed for a documentary called Buster Keaton: A Hard Act to Follow by composer Carl Davis and it has been used in several different peices on the subject of Buster Keaton.

  • My hero yeah goooooo buster

  • If Hollywood ever makes a movie about Buster Keaton's life how many of you would like to see Jim Carrey as Buster Keaton.

Remember Jim Carrey is a rubbery face high energy comic genius.

so how many of you would like to see Jim Carrey as Buster Keaton If Hollywood ever makes a movie about Buster Keaton's life. I know I would. Jim Carrey is the perfect comic genius actor to play Buster Keaton. If so please reply to my comment or send me a persional YouTube message. Thank You.

  • thats ridiculous... buster keaton rarely showed emotion in his face. it was strictly mechanical. jim carrey is way to over-hyped. besides, he's now doing more "family" orientated movies. he's too old for slapstick.

if they were to make a movie about him it should be based around his life off the screen anyways

  • Carl Davis used this theme for Buster Keaton for the 1980 Documentry Hollywood, for which Carl Davis was composer

  • Delirious!!

  • alto kamikase

  • He was great.

It's a shame what MGM did to him.

  • what mgm do?

  • Buster was signed over to MGM to make his movies, but instead of letting this genius to do what he does best, they took controll and didn't let him do a thing. They ruined his career and he back an achoholic. MGM is much nicer now adays.

  • Was Buster Keaton mildy or compleilly deaf and hearing impared.

  • @somethingOxO - Keaton wasn't the only great comedian MGM screwed over. It did the same thing to The Marx Brothers.

  • @somethingOxO and what his wife did to him, too.

  • great video!!!

what is the name of this style of music? is that I love this music, I want know please

    thanks n_n

  • It's deffinatly a jazz big band influence, but it's mostly a movie score style. The same composer did a few Harold Lloyd scores. It sounds a lot the same like the soundtrack from Benny and Joon.

But deffinatly look into some old 20's and 30's Jazz.

  • It was composed by Carl Davis

  • I thought that everone in the world is at least 8th cousins.

So..... I'm his atleast his 8th cousin :D woot!

  • im your 6th cousin:O

  • Excellent, très belles images !

  • chaplin and keaton were both greats. and now they are both legends. i believe chaplin had the upper hand because he was an all-in-one artist.

  • Chaplin really was the most talented. I belive that Keaton could have rivaled him if his career hadn't been destroyed by MGM, but Chaplin was no doubt increadibly talented. Great dancer too...

  • According to Robert Ben Garant, his character Junior on Reno 911, was based off of Buster Keaton.

  • Hmmm. I didn't know that...that's pretty cool

  • Who's better; Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin?

  • The Great Debate. Personally I like Buster Keaton better, but Charlie Chaplin was a brilliant filmmaker, especially his feature length films like City Lights and Modern Times. But the styles are different completely. Keaton is very Mathmatical and Chaplin is very loose and fluid.

  • Perhaps, but Buster would only do a couple of takes and go with what was more natural, as opposed to Chaplin who strived for perfection and would do many, many takes. So, in that sense, I think Buster was more fluid as a filmmaker. But I do know where you're coming from.

  • That is true. There was only a few times were Keaton would shoot take after take after take. Chaplin definately worked hard on each film, even composing his own musical score.

I think if Keaton had been able to have more control over his pictures during his MGM career, he would have shown even more talent. The both of them were wonderful comedians and filmmakers. They really knew what they were doing.

  • he was the first brakedancer! check out those moves!

  • how do you pronounce keaton? like key a tawn

    or keytawn

  • It's pronounce like keytawn. Americans tend to pronounce it "Keetin" or "Keet 'n". But it does have a long E sound.

  • Its pronounced key tun

  • cool effects

  • what is the song?

  • The song was written for a documentary on Buster Keaton called "Buster Keaton: A Hard Act to Follow".

  • Very Good!!! Buster Keaton is the best!! Great music and nice montage. Thanks.

  • honestly, he was my great great great great great uncle! I SWEAR TO GOD!!!!! look.... jKEATON101. i promise!

  • Your name wouldn't happen to be Joe or Joseph would it?

  • I love Buster.

    Nice video, thanks.

  • nice ending.

  • i am fourteen and once my friend fell down and just wore a deadpan expression and i said wow you remind me of Buster Keaton and she said who is that? i am losing faith in the world

  • This is the best tribute to Buster Keaton! And you start it off so brilliantly! Great job! He was the best!

  • blimey he must of been made of rubber

  • haha no actor now days would work in those conditions... what a trooper!!

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The "Great" Buster Keaton is absolutely right!

  • he broke his back on set once! and guess what he did? finished the shot and walked off the set like nothing.

    friggin amazing man. :)

  • He broke his neck in one movie and only got a a headache. He didn't realize his neck was even broken untill about a year later.

  • which films are these clips from?

  • There's a great deal of his movies in this clip.

Several of his short films and his original features. I may be able to list the movies by order of apperance and put them in the infomation. But there's a lot of them.

  • I've now made a detailed list of the clips and the movie titles they came from in the info section.

  • That's very nice. Thank you.

  • Wow, thanks a lot! :D

  • the bit where he jumps tha gap is just the funniest thing!

  • awesome!~

  • Could anyone tell me the name of the film at 0:45 and 0:51, with Buster as the director of a band?

    Thanks!
