  • very good job man, and the retro thing is a nice touch too lol

  • Just love this. One of my all time favourite covers I've come across on you tube. Done with your own stamp. This is what this site is best at. Bloke sitting in his living room sounding like this. I've watched this tens of times since I favourited it about a year ago. Makes me want to dig around in my cupboard for my old brass slide and have a go at it.

    Cheers from Jonn.

  • How long have you played the guitar?

  • I started to play guitar in late 80's, quickly switched to slide. I began to be able to play what I want since late 90's...Hey, since you're from Sweden, go a check Fred Kinbom, a great swedish slide player ! His YouTube user name is oahusteel75

  • Hey! Thanks for the tip, i'll be sure to look him upp. So how much did you train would you say?

Did you have any teachers or did you teach yourself from the internet and stuff?

  • Totally inspiring stuff! I wish i could play da blues like this! Looking forward to hearing more.

  • Awesome voice - good and powerful like the blues should be, yet with the control that separates a great performance from a good one; awesome guitar, I'm going to have to really study this video lol

  • That's killer. Amazing job.

  • hi nice guitarist men have you tried some bob Marley? (I love bob marley)

  • what the fuck? where did bob marley come from??

    in any case sounds nice.

  • very nice sound. you have encouraged me to mess around with alternative tunings. I'm usually stubborn/lazy and stay in standard. But I'll have to try this "Open D"....

  • very nice !!

  • some say blues is depressing, but it actually cheers me up

  • nice

  • Kickass, man. Kickass...

  • standard tuning here guy?

  • Some kind of open tuning, maybe open F?

  • Nope..just usual open D.

  • i cant feel my body

  • why ???

  • One of America's gift to the world, this music is tops. This guy puts it together.

  • This is the best cover of this song out there.Great playing and singing.Your phrasing is perfect....5 stars. Please check out my clip on youtube.......Big Frank

  • Nice job Vleb, keep it up. Holler!

  • Perfectly awesome - great playing bro - thanks for the entertainment. there's a lot of said and the slide and blues in your style - it shows.... THAT says a LOT bro! Thanks for sharing the post. I feel you bro - I feel you.

  • fantastic

  • there ya go man. that's the shit =B) if there's something missing from another tune, it's on this one. the better you play yer axe, the better you sing. hot shit. i wish i could play patton and house.

  • Great job...Thanks a lot for the trip....

  • You got off brotha!

  • Fantastic! You did some great things with that song. Wonderful guitar sound, intriguing vocal interpretation.

  • Superb playing.

  • I like this, I'm a beginner at slide and it's helping me a lot with different licks and stuff thanks for posting

  • That was a really dumb comment

  • Rad playin man, I'm diggin it, Diggin it faster than 100 Jews could dig out of a concentration camp with spoons.

  • great job man!i really love your style!you seem to really have respect for the old blues and make it your own!

  • I loved this video, you get a very nice tone out of that guitar, the slide sounds clear and just awesome and I really dig your voice. Well done.

  • Wow Jam On Your Great vleb Keep on

  • Son House is the man. But u gotta admit, this white boy is tearin them strings up. Good job man!

  • beautiful tone, what kind of guitar is that, is it, looks like a national but I wasn't sure? Anyway sounds great

  • Thanks for your comment. The guitar is a '29 National triolian replica, selfbuilded from a reso guitar kit.

  • holy shit can you play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i doubt anyone can do what son house does (even my idol, zakk) but holy christ that is bad assssssss!!!

  • Very nice feel and soul. Thanks.

  • Very nice. It has all the spirit and feeling of old Son House's original. It's nice to see people really play the blues! Thanks

  • Nice Job, but no White Boy can ever come close to the "Soul" of Son :(

    Sorry I'm White Tooooooooo :(

  • Really enjoyable. I can't help patting my foot. Addictive rythem.

  • That was the bomb...I think Son House 's soul got a little sidetracked when he passed and found its way into a white boys body...

Now I got to listen to the rest of your vids..

Please whats the guitar tune to? Is it OpenG?

  • Thank you so much for your very kind words...The guitar is tuned to open D = DADF#AD (low to high)

  • is open D similar to drop D? whatever youre doing is bad ass.

  • No it's not the same.

Drop D is DADGBE. You just put the first chord in D.

Open D is DADF#AD, or some times DADGAD.

  • I love DADGAD for my Celtic songs... I just found out it was pretty much the staple for Celtic guitar...

    Heh... oops.

Oh, and Open D is my favorite slide tuning for my Dobro. ^_^

  • One word: bril.

  • you're great

  • great stuff!

  • haha, watching you play this shit is great because you can see that you truely love the music youre playing.

    excellent work.

  • Six stars, dude. Blues walking like a man.

  • nice work!

got that Son House rythem down!

  • wow, you have got 'it'

  • Incredible. You are so good you make it look easy! Great song too. You rock!

  • you got real talent man

  • Nice one vleb.. keep the music alive

  • what idiot gave this less then 5 stars!! Like to see yous do something as raw as this!!!5 stars

  • Can you give some vitals on that guitar?

  • GREAT JOB

  • Sounds great, vleb!!!

  • Is there any way you could E-mail me the tabs for this? or do u know anywhere where i could find them?

  • Well, I'm sorry but I play this one by ear...I'll have to tab it myself. Don't even know if it can be tabbed ;-)

  • so good... and 9,619 views... jesus.. like the guitar too and you sound great

  • very nice...good vibe

  • awesome guitar work. gives me shivers

  • What tunning are you using. Looks like D or E. I always thought Son House played that song in G. But then I never tried to learn it. Cheers Cary

  • Good guess ! I play this song in open D tuning (D A D F# A D)

  • try doing the pony bleus, is my favorite

    you'r great

  • OK, fine by me....Pony Blues is close to this one, at least how I play it ;-)

  • Sing it, white boy! You're amazing...this music stirs my soul, you're a very talented player/singer...a wonderful tribute and cover. What kind of guitar is that?

    ~ Lisa x

  • Really sweet piece of work!

  • nice. what guitaar is that?

  • man you got that song down! is that Open G or Open D or what?

  • how did you get that quality on the video?

  • nevermind just saw the video response thing

  • good point. have you listened to charley patton? to me he is the alpha and the omega

  • white boy can play, but i think it is irresponsible to cover son house

  • I can see your point...What's the use of white guy playing Son House in 2006 ? Well, I'm selfish and I really dig to play that tune ;-) When I play it live, people like it. I always explain where it comes from and what is it about. It's an humble tribute. But I do agree : you should always listen to the original ! To play Son House songs is a way to tell people "listen to Son House". Thanks for your comment :-D

  • why would you think that? son house probably got it from somebody. just pass it along that's all

  • who made you the judge?

  • who the fuck are you? the son house youtube police? let him cover whatever the hell he wants.

  • first of all - eat a dick. second of all - he can do whatever the fuck he wants to, i just said i felt it is irresponsible. third - because blues music is variations of a select few chord progressions, what makes a song unique are the distinct subtelties an artist applies with the instrument or his voice. if someone isnt going to improve on the song or take it in a completely different direction, i feel that he gives the impression to his listeners that the

  • things son house did can be duplicated, which i dont think they can be. i feel like this diminishes the beauty of the music of someone like son house. i understand where vleb is coming from when he says 'to play son house songs is a way to tell people to listen to son house', and i agree to some extent, but it is human nature to instinctively favor the version they heard first, to compare the second version to the first, and i feel like that taints the music, in this case

  • son houses version, because one should be able to listen to his music without anything to diminish their focus on it, because to appreciate the blues one needs to listen to each and every note without distraction

  • great, a fair tribute to Son House

  • very good... thats the way the blues sounded best. played sloppy, but yet with feeling and passion... im not a fan of the stevie ray vaughn big 80's stuff.. blahhh...

  • totally agree... Blues sounds best when left alone. Little to no production value... played "true"

  • Wow, what an ego.

  • great sound mate!

  • very very very nice, congratulations man real blues

  • What tuning is he using? Does anyone know...

  • If "he" is Son House, open D IMHO....I play it in open D anayway ;-)

  • Thanks, DADF#AD....What are you playing ? A very early triolian with a maple neck? Or reissue? What kind of bridge is on it ??? You sound Awesome!. -K

  • I play on a selfbuilded resonator woodbodied kit guitar

    => http://vlebonator.free.fr/Resokit/IndexE.htm

It is supposed to be a replica of a '29 triolian.

The bridge is a Hipshot Trilogy tailpiece with adjustable keys to quickly change tunings
