If singing had nothing to do with Horrorfest, it's interesting that they featured MaryAnne's Monster Mash video, which remains in their line-up. I'm basing my opinion on what both presented--I just rewatched their videos and MaryAnne's I still find chilling and convincing. Black Betty's video is campy, not scary, and ironically the strongest horror element to it is MaryAnne's dead scenes. Take MaryAnne out of it and it borders on comedy. There is more to horror than screaming one's head off.

I didn't find her dead scene scarey at all. Some makeup, blood from the mouth, and suspenseful music? I thought it was boring. Black Betty is scarey, I felt Maryanne's personality was very bland. Black Betty got into the role of "freak" whereas Maryanne didn't play-up anything. I think that's why people like Black Betty, you're not quite sure if she's actually insane or just playing the part. She stayed in character the whole time.

Horrorfest really made a mistake on this one. So if I had to do it again, I would vote for her. MaryAnn? No way in hell!

Dark Spider may be making a go of horror as a career, however, not many people are watching. She has 107 subscribers and her latest video has 103 views. Black Betty as 199 subscribers and Chieko has 174. Compare that to MaryAnne's 30,000+ numbers and it's quite clear who would have been the better choice at bringing continued and wide attention to Horrorfest, which is the whole purpose of Horrorfest on YouTube. I would guess that the people behind Horrorfest may see that now, but... too late!

Black Betty, I like her and voted for her, but I found out later, by her own admission in an interview that she came up with the "Black Betty" character just hours before the audition, and it seems that her main interest is getting into mainstream films. So she wasn't much of a horror queen and it shows, I won't make that mistake again. If the Horrorfest people are smart they will choose someone that TRULY loves horror and will support it ALL YEAR. It can only benefit their brand.

The sound on this is not synced with the video, obviously. The point where I wave was when they first announced my name, not that I won. And after they announced the winner, they pulled my "Executioner's Hood" off.. and I screamed etc.. As far as the hoods go, it was supposed to be a scary sight gag. My guess is, the later footage was unusable for some reason, so they just used the sound.
