oh my god your hair got so long..i was watching a video from 2008 when you were talking about if you ever cut them.. glad you didn't. can you give me advice?
My hair keeps unraveling when I wash it with a stocking cap. Is this normal for being 1 month and some weeks in? When will it stop unraveling? I started my locs with the 2 strand twist method.
I use Giovanni Deeper Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. Organic...Natural....and the price is great...You can get them 2 for the price of 1 sometimes at Rite Aid/CVS/Walgreens etc. Also try Trader Joes brand as well....thats also good. For a really great clarifying shampoo you can never go wrong with Dr. Bronners castille soap
over time would you say that your locs got thicker? B/c im about to start my locs, and i have a lot of hair but the individual strands are pretty fine...
@TheHighnotes718 They say locs get thicker over time because they retain all of the shed hair that would normally just fall out. And on average you shed about 100 hairs a day. o_o
Dr Bronners!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it and although it may seem expensive but in comparison to other shampoos you buy for the same price, you got a lot more than 8ounces worth...
You are too cute talking on the phone about your hair while making a video about your hair, lol! We all do that. :-D Your locs look great by the way. I tried BB's shampoo and it just dries out my hair and scalp like crazy (the one used in my 'wash my locs in 5 min.' video). That's the last time I used that shampoo and i've gone the natural route too.
Holy cow you have alot of hair... it's growing like crazy. - LOL @ keeping the sound of water..bahahaha! - Yeah, dude.. $7.99 is alot to me too but in shampoo you definitely get what you pay for. I went to the store the other day and saw some shampoo I needed, but it was $18.00!! I was like, "Oooooh heck no. I just bought the smaller version instead for $6.00 lolol. I'm frugal, too.. but it's all good!! Your hair rocks so hard.. seems like a lot of maintenance, though. Kudos.
I don't have dreads but I have natural hair. I wait about 3 weeks sometimes too...doing your own hair takes a while especially when you have a full schedule.
@applesandmustard Well you could buy glycerin or make it, making its the hard part. but you can just buy it and add your own scents to it. Its like $10 on amazon for 2 pounds. As of conditioner, that ones a little tricky. For a natural one, you can mash up an avocado and mix it with coconut milk. Idk, if you'd want to do that though...might be weird for locs lol
Dar-Dar (I feel like I can call u Dar-Dar because in my head we are friends...#noweirdo) I love you videos! Hey check my videos out tell me what u think!
@applesandmustard cus it obvi makes the hair soft. it leaves residue and its harder for the dread to keep its hard state..but i guess you dont want harder dreads like white people have..only soft twisted..?
dont get me wrong. i love your hair. but the reason why it puffs up is the conditioner hun...
I don't like it when I have to wash my hair every day :( I look greasy if I don't. Damn genes. So $20 for shampoo and conditioner could last you like a year if you wash it every other week. $20 a year for hair care? *Looks at her $30 a month for shampoo, conditioner, mousse, and hairspray* Lucky..
lil tidbit, although I'm not sure it would work on your hair since mine's different and you have dreads, but just in case - I don't use synthetic products if I can at all avoid it, so I've started conditioning before I shampoo with a mixture of olive and castor oil, and washing that out with castile soap - it's still about eight bucks, but the bottle's at least twice as big, if not more, than Burt's Bees. o yea and if you REALLY want to go natural, you can twist your hair with aloe vera gel. Not the gel you buy in a tub, but literally buying the aloe vera leaf, cracking it open, and using that gel to twist your hair with lol. and you can put the leaf in the freezer to save the gel. I think the gel has a pretty strong hold and it dries clear.
@applesandmustard i can buy the leaf at a local farmers market for pretty cheap. Just as a warning, raw aloe vera gel is a little slimy and sticky lol! if you just want the gel in a bottle with a better consistency, you can get Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel.
@applesandmustard I live in Barbados and the average CHEAP one is $10, but anything that is actually any good can easily be much more... things here are uber over priced lol
You are too funny! I have been watching your videos for a while (went back to earlier videos to catch up) and joined youtube so that I could leave you and some of my other favorites comments.
isnt the mango and lime natural?? or does it have sulfate?? anyway i have been lookin for one too found a good conditioner but no go on a good shampoo try.
@Hazardz09 it's not natural, well it doesn say it is so it probably does have sulfate in it. if i had a bottle handy i'd let you know but i'm all out =/
@applesandmustard I think it's actually better than most shampoos which will dry out your hair more because of the sulfates. (Personally, I only use shampoo on my locs every 3 or 4 washes just to make sure my locs don't get any build up, but they feel noticably dry after)
ingredients: Pure Honey, Shea Butter, Osun (camwood), Palmkernel Oil, Cocoa Pod Ash, Palm Bunch, Ash, Aloe Vera, Lime Juice, Essential Oil Blend, Water
(Note that honey and shea butter are known to be natural emollients)
OMGGGGGGGGGGGG! You wear dreads really well. I like the way they're long and pretty! (: Now I randomly wanna go wash my hair, but it's toooooooooooooo cold!
i will definetly get a good camera with the tax refund and finally post some vids...i just passed my 1yr lock anniversary last week...and i am sooo stoked about gettin to your level...we should go into the locking business together, i have a few tricks that ppl are always asking me about and you would have to be the mascot cuz ur locks are RIGHTEOUS
@ikkinnikk yay i'm a pretty mop :) my eyes? theyre boring brown :( i wish they were an awesome color like....*insert awesome eye color here* but thanks anyway!
@TeddyMonster555 You should look into inter-locking. Basically you need big bobble pin and stretch it out a little. Use the bended part to go through the root/base-not all the way but enough that it won't slide out and you have room to do the second part (make sure you twist the hair first!) and then take the tip of your hair and pass it into the bended end (not all the way!) At that point take the opened ended tips and pull the pin back out the way you put it in. Repeat if needed. Good Luck :)
@TheMzChoc i've interlocked a few of them, i think it was 3-5, since i've started the process. reason why?
those little bastards wouldn't lock lol everytime i would wash my hair they would untangle tothe tip where it was some what lock'd. so i did that to those and now they follow suite like the rest of them.
but i wouldn't do it again. reason being i felt like it put alot of stress on them because i felt the tightness for about a week or so
@TeddyMonster555 i just do the same twisting minus the clips. twist a chunk and put them all in the same ponytail holder. the clips hold them for longer though in my opinion.
u dont have to explain, we all know black ppl cant be washing dem hair no everyday nor every week.LOL. dam arent u gonna use the entire bottle ur hair is so long. lol i cant imagine when i get to that stage.
I hate shopping for shampoo because what it says on the bottle might not necessarily work on your hair. But i love the sound of water and the sound of someone washing their hair lol. Thats not weird is it?
oh my god your hair got so long..i was watching a video from 2008 when you were talking about if you ever cut them.. glad you didn't. can you give me advice?

i'm now doin my locs myself..im wonderin what's the method to do it without clips??
TeddyMonster555 1 year ago

@TeddyMonster555 Neglecting...but i wouldn't advise doing it.

@Akuma2unlimited me neither that's why i don't lol

@TeddyMonster555 i just do the same twisting minus the clips. twist a chunk and put them all in the same ponytail holder. the clips hold them for longer though in my opinion.

u dont have to explain, we all know black ppl cant be washing dem hair no everyday nor every week.LOL. dam arent u gonna use the entire bottle ur hair is so long. lol i cant imagine when i get to that stage.
flutturi 1 year ago
I hate shopping for shampoo because what it says on the bottle might not necessarily work on your hair. But i love the sound of water and the sound of someone washing their hair lol. Thats not weird is it?
