I attended this church for over 20 years. It is false to say WCG believed you go to to lake of fire for not being a member. God lead HWA to his truth, such as keeping all of the 10 commandments, and God will give everyone a chance for salvation even those who never heard of Jesus. The similarities of this video and the Jehovah's Witnesses is almost word for word identical in both action and in theocratic teaching. The gospel was never only for the Jews but for all people of all races. Obviously, God determines who goes to hell, and the bible makes it clear if you are a Christian, and you turn back on that way of life, you lose your salvation. HWA was imperfect tool of God to bring the knowledge of God's plan and teachings. Some did worship him, but he was a tool and not to be worshiped. Some of HWA early teachings were incorrect especially regarding medicine, which he corrected. This video in no way reflected HWA. It distorted HWA teachings by making less important beliefs appear very important, or emphasizing early errors. The video drew false conclusions.

HWA claimed to be the fulfillment of of the prophecy speaking of Elijiah who would announce the coming of the Lord. He was a liar as the Lord Jesus Christ taught in the Scriptures this was John the Baptist. Of course I joined of my own volition; but this was based on deception just as one finds with the JWs, Mormons, etc. As such, I was deceived being taught a works-centric false gospel not unlike the Romanism I was raised in. The true gospel is not works-based my friend, it is of grace.

HWA said "I am a voice crying out in the wilderness." All Christians must do the same, it is commanded by Jesus. It is a work that must be done and will be done. "Well done my good and faithful servant, come and inherit..." God say. You have to be doing the work and be a servant. God called for a reason and that's to do a work.

HWA used to say "You are saved by GRACE, not by RACE!" HWA revealed the real JESUS more then anybody in the entire planet. HWA removed the LIE that other churches have preached for so long and that is to live however you want and you will still be saved, just believe. To believe is to be a disciple, and disciples do what their teacher teaches. Jesus said "Obey my commands." Because we are saved by GRACE, we uphold the LAW. I was part of this so-called church for over 9 years. It was indeed a cult that viewed itself as the only true church where everyone else was on their way to the lake of fire simply because they were not WCG card-carrying members. I attended this church for over 20 years. It is false to say WCG believed you go to to lake of fire for not being a member. God lead HWA to his truth, such as keeping all of the 10 commandments, and God will give everyone a chance for salvation even those who never heard of Jesus. The similarities of this video and the Jehovah's Witnesses is almost word for word identical in both action and in theocratic teaching. To God be all the glory for the transformation of the WCG. It's truly by His grace that Joseph Tkach Sr. and his colleagues were moved to question and renounce the heresies of Herbert W. Armstrong and were willing to pay the cost, which was great. I welcome them with open arms as my brothers and sisters in Christ.
I also pray for those in the Philadelphia, United, Global Churches of God and the Armstrong splinter groups still behind the veil, that they also may be set free as the WCG was.

My trusty NKJV said: But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son...born under the law...to redeem those who were under the law" Gal4.4. the context of 'under the law' is found in pre- verse 3--"bondage under the elements of the world" meaning, to be 'under the law' is to be in your sin. uh...no. In 1980 Henry Cornwall, then an aide to HWA, read the Robinson book soon after it appeared and asked HWA directly if the chapter on incest was accurate. HWA told him it was. He then instructed Cornwall that his wife Ramona was not to see the book or learn of the incest story. Shortly thereafter, she too confronted HWA about the incest allegation. And once again, Herbert admitted it was true, but begged and pleaded with Ramona not to let this fact get in the way of their marriage.

The sealing of the 144,000 is still a future event that hasn`t occurred yet, it occurs just before the 1-year long Day of the Lord with its 7 last plagues to protect true Christians physically. All true Christians of the past 2,000 years will rule under Christ as well as all of God`s prophets and holy men and women of the Old Testament resurrected at Christ`s Return. So, it is not only the 144,000 who will rule in the world tomorrow but a great deal more, thousands upon thousands!

This does not excuse the actions of those leaders who may have said those things, nor does it excuse the recipients who turned to suicide or drug abuse, ...ect.

continued: church under HWA=Miraculous growth. Church under Tkatch=immediate shrinking. I personally know of people this man went after and destroyed. Not through doctrinal changes alone, but through personal attacks on character, removing disability pensions and general harrassment. I know of people who still have the letters from him which demonstrate how cruel he could be. The sufferring includes suicide, drug addiction and long-term depression. Fruits of the spirit? I think not.

Church membership growth does not always equal blessings from God... Islam is the fastest growing religion... and Mormons here in the U.S. have had an incredible growth rate.
I saw incredible growth under Tkach's leadership(whom btw, Armstrong appointed), as the Body of Christ saw about 40,000+ added in a matter of a few years, as the scales of legalism were removed, and people put their faith in Christ alone. And, praise God those scales continue to fall today, 22 years after HWA's death.

Thank you for such a fantastic video. It chronicles the amazing blessings given to the church under HWA. It's really inspiring how God can use one man and restore His church. I know the video is not trying to do that, but the history speaks for itself, and, as they admit, HWA got his doctrines from the bible. So where are they getting thiers?

The folks in the vid act like they didn't read the bible until HWA died. But he often said "Don't believe me, believe your own bible! Blow the dust off it and prove this for yourself."
Maybe they were faking then. Or faking now? After HWA died WCG leaders sold off millions in church assets and kept the profits. Seems like an old fashioned money grab.
HWA's bible teachings helped me and millions of people. In 1986 I studied his doctrines alongside the bible and proved them true.

The men that have carried on the splinter groups of HWA doctrine and worhsip, are doing so for their own pride and willfulness to not search the scriptures with humility. The people in this video emptied themselves of pride and got down on their knees before the Father and asked Him to reveal the truth.
