Good book. As a resident of Pondicherry, where the initial part of the story takes place, I find certain irregularities / give inconsistencies as regards the facts. But I guess that is Fiction, and so one must give the author some literary liberties.

this is what i got from this book: (after getting to the plot)

some kid who ends up in a life boat with a tiger, but then the tigers gone, but there's a zebra now. then there's a hyena, and it eats the zebra. and then there's an orangutan, and the hyena eats it. then the tigers there. and it eats the hyena. then the kid finds some box with stuff in it, like food and shit. then he kills a fish, two fish, a bunch of fish, a turtle, the tiger throws up, he tames the tiger, and he eats his own crap

They didn't believed him but they feel compassion for Pi and left the tiger part in their report even tho its absolutely impossible for someone to live more than 200 days on a lifeboat with a tiger.
