Hmmm. Only the singer/keys player is from the original line up. Their '73 live version is awesome. The guitarist is as good as Jimmy Page for my money. And I love JP!
@IMaximusDMI this passage is from the book Twenty Years After written by Alexandre Dumas pere. ALL CONSPIRACY RESEARCHERS SHOULD LOOK AT THE COVER OF THIS BOOK, IT TELLS A STORY. it is from page 662 of the Oxford Worlds Classic---'Oh, oh! said Porthos; you know the proverb 'that's a long way from the baron's coronet that you promised me, d'Artagnan.' 'Bah! not so far as you think perhaps, Porthos; you know the proverb: "Every road leads to Rome."'

It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the work is now much more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government."

@IMaximusDMI "The fact that millions of people share the same vices does not make these vices virtues, the fact that they share so many errors does not make the errors to be truths, and the fact that millions of people share the same form of mental pathology does not make these people sane." -Erich Fromm
@IMaximusDMI They therefore reached the Louvre in a boat. It was quite night, and Paris, thus seen by the light of the pale lanterns flickering among the ponds which were being crossed by boats loaded with patrols carrying their glittering arms, with the watchwords exchanged between the posts, presented an appearance which quite bewildered Aramis, a man so easily influenced by warlike emotions.
As can be seen here keyboardist and flutist of the band, Thijs van Leer sings this topic using styles of opera and jazz choirs. This keyboard flute study led by his father who was a very experienced classical flutist. Years later, he completed his musical education at the conservatory where he also studied piano, organ, composition and orchestral arrangements. While still attending school, Van Leer formed his jazz group. Van Leer is very irreverent, their whistles evokes classic themes.
Long before the English band of rock music, QUEENS experiment with classical elements in the Rock, a Dutch band Focus was ahead, in fact, formed in 1969 by 4 musicians classically trained musicians: keyboardist / flutist Thijs van Leer, guitarist Jan Akkerman, bassist Martin Dresden, and drummer Hans Cleuver. Van Leer and Akkerman carry the weight of the composition of songs, usually instrumental. This topic has within strong classical elements.
@Pasalaqcua that doesn't mean anything. There could've been a band 20 years ago that still exists, and decides to release an Album now. So in that sense, they would still be a band from the 90's if ur doing the math.
@matrixman770 It does not matter, Hammond organ is still the same as are drums and bass sound. The only difference is Jan Ackerman has a more modern sound with more sustain and he can show todays virtuosos on guitar a thing or two. This is still the brilliant Focus we knew in 1972 !!!! :)
great!!! they still can rock it after all this years, I propose that we make a petition to the guys that control the music industry to please ban all the new music garbage that they are giving to us and bring the old school rock, long live the late 60, 70's music. Now I said it
@Stygian9 u know that's Thijs on the organ, the original guy right? ..sad that he can't yodel like he used to tho.. ..and I'm not particularly fond of the guitar player..
Excelente. Focus es uno de mis grupos favoritos desde siempre. Muy bien Thijs Van Leer pon continuar con su inconfundible órgano y flauta, y manteniendo la personalidad del grupo. Saludos desde la ciudad de Concepción, Chile.
Some viewers are criticizing Thijs van Leer (probably in his 60's at least) for not reaching the high notes. His organ and flute skills are flawless. I can't sing high notes from my twenties- why should we expect someone 20 years older to do that? In my mind this is a pretty cool nostalgia band performance.
Between the toupee on the guitarist and the singer croaking out, this is one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Gotta know when to hang it up people!
