  • Looks like an 8-bit Sonic 2 with Sonic 3 music as well as Sonic Jam.

  • Looks like an 8-bit Sonic 2 with Sonic 3 music.

  • that's not at all an anomaly that sonic get a pocket adventure, is like mario on the gameboy duh...

  • My goal in life is to rape a dolphin in my bedroom.

  • @CCPcakes I just masterbated to Dolphin porn :)

  • Mushroom Hill Zone music for Aquatic Ruin? What is this I don't even

  • @mjc0961 green hill zone sherlock

  • @teamblack4star 4:33 is clearly Mushroom Hill Zone act 2 music. Learn what the hell you're talking about before you try to insult others.

  • Levels from Sonic 2 but with music from Sonic 3/ Sonic & Knuckles. Maybe they hoped no one would notice

  • @DrPoca I remember noticing they'd used the Mushroom hill Zone music in the Aquatic riuns zone

  • I use to pocket adventure like you.... then i took a fist to the dick.

  • This is basically Sonic 2 with a missing level (Mystic cave zone) with Sonic 3 music. Always wanted to get the game and the handheld when I was a kid, but it was so expensive. But picked it up a few years ago for 20 bucks new, both of them :U

  • Sonic the hedgehog 2-Pocket

  • THIS WAS UPLOADED ON MY B-DAY LAST YEAR WOW OMG!!!!!!!!

  • Awww yeaaaaaaa! You uploaded this on my birthday last year!

  • Man I wish I had a Neo Geo Pocket.

  • This... Is pretty much sonic 2 in 8-bit.... But it must have been an awesome game to own back in the day... :D

  • Sonic making something look good? I find that very hard to believe.

  • @ninjasweetheart You clearly don't remember the 90's sonic...... The REAL sonic... The sonic with devs that gave a shit, and not a sega that just wants to milk every last penny out of a dying franchise....

  • @ninjasweetheart you just dont know

  • Yes I do know what you are talking about. You are talking about Tigers Game.com hand held video game system

  • it was possible the cause, even now, japanese manufacturers like to sleep together...thats why capcom challenges every japanese game company in a fighting game, but not Mortal Kombat..who else is cool and old enough to remember the monumental moment when Square meat Enix, at first it was mixed feelings, and really soon after we realized it was a heavenly match

  • I miss my NGPC still, someone stole it from me in school. I had this and Dark Arms. I loved it to death.

  • @CaptainZombeh Find whoever stole it and... BEAT HIM TO SHIT!

  • It's sad you say you're bad at Sonic...when I'm about 300 times worse lol

  • I love this game!

  • this is basically all the sonic 2 stages, with sonic 3 and knuckles music. I love this game, just because im a huge fan of sonic 2 and 3

  • Great vid, man! Thanks!

Also, is that Mushroom Hill Zone music on Aquatic Ruin Zone? Haha!

  • All levels from Sonic The Hedgehog 2

  • This was an awesome game... a classic

  • Man they really screwed the music up bad.......

  • Casino Night with Sonic 3 bonus music, Aquatic Ruin with Mushroom Hill Music this is terrible.....

  • Chemical Plant Zone with Angel Island music WTF is going on????

  • Don't flame me for saying this but this game kind of reminds me of sonic 4. The levels are "copies" of old ones but with different level designs, it uses the modern designs in a classic styled game, but one difference is the physics, here they feel a bit more slippery than normal and in Sonic 4 they feel more weighted.

They're still both good games but I'd still rather play Triple Trouble and Sonic 3&K.

  • Pleasant View, TN ftw

    I live there too.

  • Is this better than the game gear sonic

  • @bland9876 From what I hear it is. I never picked up a NGPC back in the day because I didn't know it existed. I'd probably have gotten one, though. It would have been collecting dust once I got my GBA, but I'm a pretty hardcore GB enthusiast. But I have played all the GG Sonics (also a hardcore GG fan) and they're decent games. Thing is they're a little slow. I've heard this solves that problem. So yeah, I'd say worth a play. One day I'll pick up an NGPC and this is at the top of my want list.

  • The music from the first level came from the 3d parts of sonic jam

  • lol i just bought this off ebay for £5

  • lol at the fact that this video is in 1080p

  • I have a Mario game for the Mega Drive (Genesis). I'm not joking

  • @IvanCrystalColor And its not a rom hack?

  • @katakisLives No. Cartridge whith it's own box. The cover is really odd. It shows Mario riding Yoshi but Yoshi has Bowser's head. The game is below avarage.

  • @IvanCrystalColor That sounds very interesting! I'd like to see that game! it sounds like one of those weird knock off cartridges (usually from China) like the Gameboy carts of the 90s that had their own on off switch and contained hundreds of games!

  • My, how Dimps has fallen.....

  • Sonic in my pocket? Naw. I'd have Blaze in my pocket ANY DAY though.

  • "Do you really want Sonic in your pocket?"

That's the million-dollar question, right there.

  • This sucks

  • Don't care what you say, I'm gonna bend over backwards for this game. Although I probably won't have to will the google shopping engine.

  • Anyone who thinks this is a port of sonic 2, has obviously never played sonic 2.

While it borrows heavily from level design/etc and closely resembles s2, its an entirely different game from the ground up.

  • @Orpheusftw its more of a cross of sonic 2 and sonic 3

  • I love sonic hes awesome and the game looks cool

  • I have a NeoGeo that came with the Sonic The Hedgehog: Pocket Adventure, it's pretty fun, even though it uses the same levels and music of Sonic 2 & 3

  • sonic on the neo geo? thats like seeing sony develop zelda games, and oh wait, nevermind, that did happen

  • i miss the sega guy :(

  • it's a remix of Sonic 2 with S3&K music. it's a really good game. I do actually recommend it if you're a sonic fan :)

  • Anybody notice at level 1? Neo South= New South= Fatal Fury Reference?

  • Hmmmmmmm looks very nice, seems like a port of sonic 2

  • i wonder what would happen if at the end of that long track where you collect x amount of coins you missed the chaos emerald...would you just keep on running forever? somebody please try that out!!! :::::)

  • where did you get it?

  • I'm a huge sonic fan and i own nearly every sonic game but i can't own this :(

  • The Nomad did much better 5 years earlier, so i'm not shocked they pulled this off.

Why are handhelds resembling to TV remotes more popular than well designed, comfortable to hold, ergonomic stuff like the two Sega handhelds?

  • @InecomCompany reviews Superfrog (Amiga) :) watch?v=LZfX-EvDeNc

  • brilliant game :D

  • ign gave this game a 10/10 so i needed to see it

  • I never knew of this until recently, its always shocked me, I always thought that Sonic was never put on anything but a Sega system until they stopped making hardware altogether. But to find out they did, it just surprised me. I knew of Mario being on other consoles but Mario/Donkey Kong existed before the Nintendo system in arcades. Sonic didn't exist before Sega began making hardware.

  • the new-geo-pocket color was actually a pretty sick piece of hardware. ahead of its time and right between the ga,eboy color and gba in terms of sheer power.

  • You think they'll include Neo Geo Pocket and Neo Geo Pocket Color for the 3DS Virtual Console in the next update? :/

  • IGN gave this game a 10/10

  • AWESOME!!! IM FROM TENNESSEE!!!!!!

  • I still have my neo geo but I lost the sonic game tht came with it :(

  • 4:59 Thats what she said. (trollface insert)

  • Take Advantage Of Journey to Dance Like Mat?

    View My Channel

  • Great job capturing the screen on this one. I should pick one of these handhelds up some day,,, along with a WonderSwan, yeah!

  • @illustriouschin SHUT UP! YOU WANT A VECTREX

  • @groundnpound92 I can have both. Well I could if I wasn't a penniless pile of puke without a job.

  • I think this is among the best,sonic 8-bit :)

  • @zyriuz2 its 16bit not 8 but it kinda looks 8 so i dont blame you for saying that

  • But the Neo-Geo pocket doesn't have blast processing....

  • @Gmod1001 But it DOES what Nintendon't, LOL!

  • Sonic 3 music in this game?

    KICKASS

  • but even if the levels look like sonic 2, i just cant stop thinking of the sonic cd boss with mini eggmans when i see the little picture for the clip, or am i wrong? is it the boss from sonic 2 Metropolis Zone?

  • They need to make a Sonic Pocket "DS"

  • @Blueblaze98 Well, the problem is that DS is nintendo, Sega's old enemy. While The creators of Neo Geo pocket are not enemys of Sega

  • @merkur32123 True in that they need to make a new sega system handheld

  • @Blueblaze98 Yes, my words! Too bad Sega does not make hardware anymore.

  • @merkur32123 and mark is right on the fact that it should be a competition between sega nintendo microsoft any publisher should be individual.

  • @TheGamesphere f*** you

  • looks like a ripoff of sonic 2

  • @SebiStudios2

    *Facepalm*

How can it be a "ripoff" if it was created by the same company? Also, have you even played this to judge if its a sonic 2 "ripoff"

    I don't think so.

  • I downloaded this a while back and I thought it was awesome!

  • I still love Sonic Triple Trouble.

  • Is that a Sonic Pocket Adventure in your pocket, or you're just happy to see me?

  • @ResurrectedTemplar lol :) Its just a Sonic Pocket Adventure :(

  • sega produced a cable to hook up the ngpc up to the dreamcast to transfer data between games like with capcom vs snk

  • It seems like in every video, Mark says "remember, I'm not really good in these games."

Mark, exactly what kind of games ARE you good at? lol

  • Wow. You put Sonic to sleep. How cruel :C

  • Seeing this game makes me want to get a Neo Geo Pocket Color myself! :D

  • 4:33 the theme to the first level of sonic and knuckles...man i miss the good old days

  • KISS YOUR HAND 10 TIMES

    SAY YOUR CRUSH 15 TIMES

    POST TO 2 OTHER VIDEOS

    LOOK AT YOUR HAND

  • @grandvage WTF?????????

  • @grandvage I'm amazed this hasn't been flagged as spam yet.

  • I got this game on PlayAsia for 5 bucks! I loved this port.

  • at the end.. no i dont know what your talking about O_o

  • @HelloxHixWatsup Some of the shitty Sonic games that have come out recently.

  • did I hear mushroom hill on acuatic ruin level?

  • @TheIrateFan Yeah you did! this game is full of Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles music

  • my pockets have never been so busy..... ADENTURING! *rolls eyes*

lol gotta love these vids. subbed

  • Gimme your neo geo pocket. It seems scratch free

  • Oh god I played the shit out of this

  • It's a very great game imho!

  • sweet music

  • I remember buying the NGPC that came with this game. The reason it could handle this game so well is that SNK put a faster processor in it compared to systems like the Gameboy because most of their games released for it were fairly high animation fighting games. Also one of the main factors for this game being on the NGPC was that Sega joined with SNK to make it so you could link certains games to the DC(such as Capcom VS. SNK)

You can get bundle packs of this system now for almost nothing. :D

  • I'd get the system just for this game Mark :D

  • I never knew this game was ever released amazing

  • @100PurpleCoins Search "Ghosting (television)" on Google....

  • nobody noticed that it just portable port of sonic the headgehog 2

  • @spypruduktion not really, I think it's a mix levels from many Sonic games with new levels too.

  • @MAH1500 maybe, but in the first 3 zones he showes it sure looks like a copy. but idono

  • @spypruduktion with sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles music lol

  • @spypruduktion the level layouts are a little different but yea you're pretty much right

  • @spypruduktion A sonic 2 port mostly with sonic 3 & knuckles songs....wtf?!?

  • @spypruduktion

Actually no, this has a different story in it and Knuckles is in the game.

  • @spypruduktion

well it uses a lot of the same backrounds and sprites it is actually a completly different game. Not everything was borowed from Sonic 2, if you listen to the music at 4: 36 you will notice that it is the Sonic & Knuckles Mushroom Hill music.

  • @spypruduktion Close but not exactly. Many of the levels look the same (including the Chaos Emerald Special Stages) but there are completely new maps, layouts and levels too!

  • @spypruduktion The level design is nothing like Sonic 2 and the music from various sonic games.

  • @spypruduktion

well not just. its mainly sonic 2 but some of the bosses are different and there are ramps and loops in different places to change it up. i would say its more like Sonic 2 the second quest.

  • @spypruduktion All the time I spent on that game when I was a kid? First thing I noticed. And I'm surprised our reviewer didn't comment on it either.

Also, did the intro sound with the ring remind anyone else of Pokemon GSC? Good times. :D

  • @spypruduktion I was wondering that myself.

  • @spypruduktion i did

  • @spypruduktion Not really. Many of the levels are similar, but the music is from other games, the bosses are unique, and the levels are majorly redesigned.

  • well......there was a sonic game on the tiger game. com back in 1998...............and like many game com games..... it sucked

  • That neo geo looks like it has a joy stick and if so..way ahead of their time.

  • @inquiry10 it was the late 90's, not really THAT ahead of its time.

  • WOW! anyone noticed that the bonus section on the neogeo pocket was displayed with less pixels from the megadrive and run smoother! i sure did,and another strange thing what a sonic game do in a neogeo console? sega never stops to amaze me!

  • @youtoubakias type slower, you just dissed on sega when trying to compliment them. Never stops to amaze me would mean that they dont give 3 shits about you. You meant never stops amazing me. Sorry for being a gramar nazi but that was a pretty big mistake. Im aware my gramar sucks too. Just watch your wording.

  • @antihippie8 ok as we greeks say about you guys that are playing wise guys since your freaking gramar is shity i will only have one thing to say to you AINTE GAMHSOU RE MALAKISMENE! MY REGARDS FROM GREECE! .!. .!. .!.

  • Sonic pocket adventure actually was and wasn't the first sonic game on a non sega system. You see, SNK was the parent company of sega at the time. This is why the neo geo pocket color can link up to a dreamcast. Sega simply didn't have a handheld on the market at the time while SNK did.

  • Maybe this will be on the 3DS virtual console?

  • Its the same as halo getting released on the PSP. There would be lawsuits up the ass.

  • @MammothWooly not if Bungie made it smart-ness. Sega made this game

  • RACIST

  • @BUCKSHOTSss whut?

  • Why Sonic games like this don't come out on the ds? The old ones are the best. Great video

  • @Banix16 Can I suggest to you the Sonic Classic Collection for the DS? You can get it for 20 bucks at Walmart ^_^

  • @speedy2davey Thanks I do have it. I just wish they made more games like that.

  • @speedy2davey $15 used at some stores.

  • That actually looks quite good. Better than the SMS Sonic games, at the very least... and this is a handheld game.

  • Mark I know you won't do it, but emulation is probably the way to go when doing these handheld game reviews. As you said, its near impossible to play the games looking through a viewfinder.

Slightly On-topic: I remember you said you wished the NeoGeo Pocket Color was back-lit in you review of it last month(?). If you are good with electronics or don't mind paying someone to do it for you, you can mod a NGPC with a GBA SP front-light. From the videos and pictures I've seen of it, it looks great.

  • Looks like they pieced together bits from the Game Gear games to make this.

  • @gow3HD xD how did you find that you?! XD

  • @gow3HD LAWLZ

  • @gow3HD thats... Just great! lol

  • fff

  • I still like the Game Gear more. lol

  • Wow, 3 people still like my comment!

  • some of the music sounds like the music in Dick Tracy for the NES

  • Sega!

  • wow, game looks great. looks like a port of Sonic 2. Same Level designs.

  • I have this game for my Neo Geo. I'm stuck at one of the levels.

  • @girochin007 epic fail changed into epic win for me! WE GOT OKAMI! and some more games, whatever they said, they were lucky, and PS2 is still selling... what about first Xbox? yeah... more support everybody, and tell treyarch to work on other consoles too... too private

  • cool this game looks pretty sweet.

  • where do u get the money for all of the equiptment and games u have?

  • like this if you click on the suggestions for more awsome CGR

  • music is uninspired. sound effects do NOT sound like sonic on genesis. looks like a bootleg...

  • HOW DO YOU RELEASE THESE VIDEOS SO QUICKLY? I CAN'T EVEN KEEP UP!

  • This isn't as strange as you might think, actually. Occasionally, a game manufacturer will release things on a competitor's handheld IF they don't have one of their own. Rare has been making games for Nintendo handhelds for years, despite being owned by Microsoft. By this time, Sega had long abandoned the Game Gear. And this isn't even the first time that Sonic has been on a non-Sega handheld. A horrible port of Sonic Jam was made for the Game.com, and that was during the Saturn era.
