Favourite Weckl solo, and that's saying something considering he isn't even using his lush bongos. Love the amount of variety in this solo and his touch is extraordinary.

I have always been amazed by Gadd, who I think has his own very cool style. But the thing is that weckl have like 100 styles and he does em all like Gadd does his one.

I watched a half-length version of this solo (PASIC 2007) just a few minutes ago, thinking THAT was great. But THIS one blows me away. So much rich flavor and originality and technique in the latter half. He makes it look effortless.

I've just been watching tons of drummer videos and they're all amazing.

Then I see Weckl and I'm thinking; I wouldn't dare suggest anyone else is better than him. His feel, touch, dynamics, tone, variations, movement, flow, musicallity...it's all unparalled. You also don't hear him nick things from other drummers and he's still ahead of 'm all. Some drummers stagnate, but this guy still evolves. He was the best a quarter century ago and he still is today.

The man is a freak of nature on the drum kit. I have never seen a drummer that can come up with endlessly amazing solo material over and over again. He seems to come up with it without too much effort. A complete anomoly! He is my favorite drummer out of all drummers in history!

great vid, can see the insanity behind his latest technique, but can't comprehend it. he was such a great drummer in the 1980s, and to actually think he could improve and take it to an entirely new level. one of the legends in drumming!

@mrSarkuJPNFREAK Its quite common for drummers to have two snares, usually to the left of the hi hat and of a different tone. However never seen one with two snares like here.

RESPECT.....You gotta give it up for someone who has taken their craft to this level.WOW!!! I cant see it getting much better than this!!! Dave has forged himself into a totally mature Master Drummer!! This is storytelling at the highest level,and for all you people that think he is just "doodling" or blowing chops....This solo swings and makes perfect sense Musically,there is alot going on,but,it all means something,much in the same way as it did for guys like Bird,or Monk,or Jaco!!
