  • shapo !

  • I think the reason for the dislikes is only because so many people are used to hearing this piece on a pipe organ... pay no attention to them... you did a good job.

  • that was incredible! take NO notice of the dislikes!

  • I am almost done leatning this piece... at first it looks hard but when i can actually play it im like "this is sooooo easy"

  • Wow! That was so awesome! I started learning it last night (didn't get far yet) and I started to give up and think to myself, "I can't play it, and it doesn't matter, I can just listen to it" but after watching this video, I don't think I will stop trying! Thank you whoever you are! I wouldn't give up so easily if I had sheet music, please help if you can...

  • Well played, you are very talented, it doesn't send the same sort of feeling as the pipe organ, but that doesn't mean it's worth less than what it is, besides it would be the same only that with some other sound, I support the other comment about the clear understanding of the piano, it's great to analise the construccion of the piece, and the pipe organ just gives it that darker, sort of sound, it changes the mood of the piece. A really great video! Try to get your hands on a pipe organ! :D

  • I think that listening to this on the piano helps one to understand that amazing structure of this piece because it is a bit clearer :)

  • what was the sheet music you used to learn this?

  • Omg this is incredible. going on my favorites

  • How youtube changed society: People will so violently defend something heard on youtube simply because it was heard on youtube, while ignoring the 100s of better versions on youtube. Everyone wants to stick up for the underdog even when the underdog admits he played it wrong.

  • Fun fact kids: While this piece is generally attributed to Bach, most music scholars agree that is almost certainly a misattribution. Every real Bach fan can hear it, this piece is way out of form for Bach, and lacks all the genius and subtlety of Maestro J.S. Bach. This monstrosity is not Bach.

  • I'm also a self-taught pianist. Don't listen to the morons on here who are saying that you didn't put enough "emotion" into your performance. This is truly excellent, and the quality of your work is astounding!

Believe me, I understand how much time it takes to learn a piece like this from memory. You have done extremely well and you are incredibly talented!

  • Very Good!!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • cancion Assombrosa '-'

  • heyyy this is amazing.(:

like obviously its gonna sound better with emotions, but people just need to stfu. you freaking said in the description you weren't trying to play with emotion!

this isn't a concert you paid to go to, its effinn youtube, so people need to calm down.

  • why is everyone getting pissy bout the 'emotion thing' i think you did great c:

  • too fast! dont you hear it?!

  • fantastic, i wish it was available for download. desmonddc@gmx.co.uk

  • Richticht gut/ very nicee nice NICEEEEEEEEEEE WUUUUUUUUAAAAA

  • so you might as well just play it with emotion

  • if you got two pianists to play a song, and the 1st one played it with emotion, and the 2nd one with none

Which one would have a higher quality in playing the song, the 1st or 2nd?

    Answer: 1st

  • Dreamscaper was being harsh......you play it very well....but i do agree that with your ability to play it as you can- you should be putting more feeling into it-by which i mean not rushing the notes so much....let them ring out.

    VERY GOOD SIR!

  • you play the easy version right ?

i bought me the sheet music from the difficult version yesterday.

    and its to difficult :D:D

but you played it good . maybe i should play the easy version too :D

    thumbs up !

  • A very difficult piece, played with scathing accuracy. Nicely done.

  • 1:04 to 1:09 mistake :)

  • Pah. I actually like this piece without emotion. It strikes me as a theme for one who has been broken too many times, and decided to behold the world through eyes devoid of any feeling. You actually have managed to make it sound pretty darn well this way.

And then still, this isn't Bach playing, it's you. Your interpretation, your version. People shouldn't whine. If they want Bach's version, they should go build a time machine.

I applaud you, sir. Good performance.

  • I'm not a Bach expert, but I belief Bach saw beauty in music in it's structure (like mathematicians who can see gods work in the mathematics), and was more about god than human emotions. For all those who complain about this interpretation: first of all don't present your own opinion as fact, and second if you want music with much human emotion, try the romantic period and not Bach...

    Good performance I like it!

  • i fond i't very good

  • dit is super goed

  • You have to give this fellow credit, this is a job well done.

  • I just want to say all of the people who are making comments about the lack of emotions are utterly retarded. This piece is meant to be played on an organ and as such it's not meant to have a great deal of dynamic variations since the instrument doesn't allow for it. It's much more appropriate to play it the way it was meant to be played, crude, methodical and precise. That's the way Bach wrote most of his works, if you want emotional playing go listen to some other composer like Beethoven.

  • @PeterSnodwind I thought I read that we aren't exactly sure what instrument this piece was originally composed for. I also read that there is controversy over whether or not Bach actually composed this piece at all.

  • Great Job!

  • I dont care what any of you say... this dude can play!! anyone who has something negative to say...you dont play, nor have you ever tried.

  • haha i was reading some posts, ha, i mean i think it takes a lot of talent just to play it. so awesome skills, I would take a tenth of your skills. these comments about emotions and stuff, like this is a u tube video for fun. not an audition into Julliard. Some pretty intense people here.

  • Nice interpretation. Would like to see what it sounded like with emotion though. And indeed playing the fugue faster does sound better.

  • Thank you. That was beautiful.

  • THIS VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ik vind dat hij super goed kan piano spelen ik speel zelf het zelfde lied maar niet zo goed

  • That was fantasic job you did. But next time, Id like to see it with a little more.. emotion, and a bit of your own flair too. Cause I know it would be just.... phenomenally amazing dude ;D Also, may I ask, where did you get your sheet music for it?

  • Yeah it is a good playing. I don't care anything about fucking emotion at all,but it's reallt good.

  • Do you have sheet music? could you send it to me please? my version's fugue isn't half as long as yours!!!

You are really fast and accurate (I don't know about the correct notes, I'm not a pro, but you have good articulation and interesting dynamics.

  • Very good, with beautiful dynamics. I believe these are the 'emotions' that reprobates such as 'dreamscaper' are talking about. I'm learning this piece at the moment myself.

  • very good playing, don't listen to these motherfuckers bullshiting about emotions

  • Can you send me the piano sheet of this piece ? :)

  • Really unlistenable without emotion. I don't know why would bother to learn the piece but not bother to play it properly.

  • @dreamscaper2008 whatever get over yourself

  • @dreamscaper2008 Do you honestly think i care? I'm not a professional pianist, it's something i did out of boredom, if you wanna listen to it emotionally then learn it yourself, and stop wasting your time trying to provide bad form of criticism, go out and party or do something productive and this comment like the last one was not meant to inspire a response from you, thanks

  • @k545 Yea i cant stand these "emotion" people. Every single video has at least one or two people. What they need to realize is THIS IS YOUTUBE, NOT A FUCKING PROFESSIONAL CONCERT. My theory is that these people get pissed because they find someone that is better than them so they just discredit them with this emotion thing. I realize that piano does have an emotional element to it but that coincides with having an audience.

  • @k545 You did an excellant job by the way.

  • @dreamscaper2008 DAMn get owned

  • @dreamscaper2008 Let me just say that I am sure you could not play this so fuck off..your opinion doesn't mean shit to anyone...obviously you're not a well educated person, because if you were you wouldn't be so rude as to comment and say poor, disheartening things on someone's video.

  • @LilGrey456 I don't play Bach but give me a couple weeks and i can play it better. What kind of logic are you using? Do I not have the right to comment on how the president of the US is doing his job if I cannot do the job the president does? Simply put there is zero reason to purposely play it without emotion, and it really does sound horrible. Without emotion, you take the very essence and soul out of music. If this is something you dig go download a midi file and rock out to it.

  • @dreamscaper2008 See, lad here's the thing...there is emotion in it..and if you can't here it turn up your speakers...Understand that this person is not a superb pianist...but he's pretty damn good for learning Bach. Do us all a favour here and shut ye mouth.

  • @LilGrey456 See, lad here's the thing...person admitted he wanted to play without emotion, to make it sound mechanical...to make it sound like garbage. Turning up my speakers will just make the bad sound bad but louder.

  • @dreamscaper2008 dude, just shut up, make your own video and teach all of us mortals how this really should be played... please delight us with all your glorious talent and emotion and show us what a garbage this video really is!!.. Because right now all i can hear is a very talented guy playing marvellously Bach's toccata and fugue...

  • @ziannify UMAD BRO?

  • @dreamscaper2008 are you really just waiting for responses in this video??? haha pathetic man...forget what i said about you trying to play this...

  • @ziannify U are mad bro!

  • @dreamscaper2008 At least he did the effort of learning it, recording it and load it to youtube. commenting on his feelings is a waste of time. he decides what to do, and surely you cannot say if it is poor of feeling.

  • @mulan229 Surely as youtube allows me to make comments I can surely comment on how poorly it was played. For the retards who say "Bach wrote it for an organ blah blah blah" listen to just about any other youtube video of this piece and hear that it wasn't written to make it sound horrible.

  • @dreamscaper2008

Ignore these people. They are weak sissy's who cant take criticism. When someone compliments them they get all happy and are glad it sounds good. Yet when someone criticizes then they immediately contradict themselves saying they don't care how it sounds.

Then of course the "do better then" clowns come in nagging like children. Honestly why the hell does someone need to be able to do something better in order to judge. We have ears and can tell if it sound sounds good not.

  • @dreamscaper2008 dude if u can play it betta then record it post it and let others judge u untill then go listen to the origional

  • Comment removed

  • @dreamscaper2008 if it's so bad then you make a video asshole.

  • @dreamscaper2008 Agreed.

  • ik vind dat hij super goed kan piano spelen

  • @dreamscaper2008 I would have to say this is one of the better playings of this I've heard and seen so far.

  • @dreamscaper2008 Fuck you this is a good video.

  • @dreamscaper2008 loser.

  • very good, unlike some other people who posted here.

  • @dreamscaper2008 Totally disagree - if you play this piece precisely, rigidly, mechanically, at a decent tempo, then the "meaning" comes alive. It's there in the notes, not anything the pianist/organist does.

The main problem with this recording are the little technical slips. (to k545) But it's a tough piece - I couldn't do any better (I've tried).

  • @dreamscaper2008 your never gonna get a break from these.... i can play this song to on organ but when you ad like tons of emotion then its not toccata and fugue its a hard song to play but he played it right not a million notes and falling off the chair XD

  • I can see it from your hands disposition : you ve got talent!!

  • @DerImperator100 aww thanks, but there are lots of mistakes actually;)

  • @k545 he didn't say that to congrantulate you, he wanted to focus on that u play it without feelings, and not that you play it without mistakes... and i agree

  • @k545 Can barely hear the mistakes.

  • @k545 Not mistakes! Alterations or changes :)

    this is good.

  • Awesome job!

  • you are amazing. ive been playing a year and a half and im doing this one now. i like challenges haha. i started with moonlight sonata before i could even read music. but anyway. your a god.

  • i dont know if you did it on accedent or not but it sounds like your off key/note around 6:00

  • Very nicely done. Listening to this on the piano is a nice change. The breathiness of the organ seems to mask the more brisk parts.

  • Incredible.

  • nice one ! :D i love this !

  • well done!

  • woah! slow down a bit on the fugue section.

  • who made this transcription?

  • Video info: "[...] and my apologies to Bach", ha ha!

    No need to apologise! ;)

  • you rock dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You look so relaxed while playing it! It's amazingly breathtaking to watch. Oh and part of this song was in the phantom of the opera! I love it!

  • you are fucking awesome. i'm trying to learn on guitar. takes to guitar players but don't have another. i'm going to do the harmonization and will post in a video response. thanks for your inspiration.

  • WoW

  • very good playing

  • very good!

  • Awesome.....I wish i can play like that.

  • that was amazing! props to you.

  • CHEERS M8 avoid all play @ u'r stile that is the best what u can do :) u'r not Bach but u'r well !!! CHEERS AGAIN

  • i like it, nice job...

  • hmm, this is a wierd version of it, but its ok. i think i play a harder version or something. the fugue part of it was really good. i put me playing this on my channel, but i didn't play it very well cuz my 7yr old bro was dancing behind the camera and squaking like a chicken nd stuff

  • reallly good!!! how long have u been playing?

  • this is amazing

  • This is good, but I don't understand why people think that Bach should not be played with emotion, I mean, one does not compose something like this Toccata and Fugue and feel nothing, dynamics, if you wanted to play emotionless and boring you could have taken off all dynamics. Dynamics in this piece like: forte fortissimo, pesante. They all express a frustration feeling, or angry FEELING. one cannot compose something like this and feel nothing.

  • Congrat ! I love the cat at 5'44 ;-) which applause before the end, like some people who don't know the piece :))

  • my favorite piece of classical music :) i have immense respect for you right now.

  • some songs you wan the pedal while others you dont it depends

  • Great Job! I was learning this on piano too, but I didn't get past the toccata XD

It's so much fun to play! well keep on keepin on!

  • Epic!!! Im learning this piece and dont even come close... BEST performance on youtube!!! I MEAN IT!!!

    :-)

  • how do you get past them evil hand positions at 2.17,2,24 i cant do it :(

  • How pedantic!. How ever, I must recognise that is the best version for piano that I've ever heard.

  • It needs more octaves. Play it with three, you pansy!

  • i see where pirets got there inspartaion for the davy jones pice now

  • That was awesome! I love how this one sounds on the organ, but you make it sound just as good on the piano!

  • I'm working on this piece right now and I can already tell from watching you play that my fingering is horribly off...

  • BRAVO

  • nicely done :D

  • I always laugh when i hear the cat :D

  • It's so beautiful...I wish I could play this song too. 5*

  • perfect doesn't come close to how good this was....and i'm just curious but what is the tempo marking? i'm going to play it for my college audition (:<

  • oow... im studying bach's invention #8 now.. haha and i'll tell you it hasnt been easy for me.. [im violinist.. but i gotta learn piano for the college audition ^^] i wish i could play this piece one day xD

  • bravissimo

  • I guess you should try Ferrucio Busoni's transcription...

  • Try to you lear BWV 565 without mistake. Deackhead :D

  • @jautja Even the greats made mistakes!

  • can you make a transcription of it?

  • @jautja why don't you try to play it?

  • that's how its suppose to be played. well done mate!!

  • nice ;)

  • awesome

  • thanks for your video. I'm teaching this piece right now and didn't know what to do exaclly at 1.04. your fingers showed me the way. thanks and very nice playing. it looks very easy when you do this. I also should use more pedal. great job

  • you did quit well, on some places i would use pedal just a liddle more to bind the notes better on some places and try to use a liddle more dynamic, but keep on youre doing well, practice does miracles

  • Wow. You're very good =)

  • Wow! that's awesome. Some people are saying you need pedal, but I think it would ruin it as this piece is played really fast.

  • @k545 yeah.. you're right, im learning this piece too cause i wanna play it for college audition and some parts sound better without the pedal

  • You played really good, but i think it sounds a bit better if you use the pedal.

    great job, keep playing :)

  • impresionante...

  • i wish i could play like you

    really good 5*

  • awesome work man!! Nice playing..

  • ahhhh the fugue is absolutely beautiful!
