I used to listen to the original Pretty hate machine version by Trent reznor while sropping acid and going on crazy trips. This version by Fly leaf..... FACK... This version takes this song to a whole new deeper level.

I have been an NIN fan since 1989. I have never missed a show. What Flyleaf did to this song was simply amazing. I love how they jammed it out. YesTrent does convey emotion through singing, however the drive that Lacy and the band put behind the words says alot as well. Maybe its just me but sometimes when someone else puts thier own energy into a song it can become better then the origanal. Trent himself said this about Johny Cashes hurt..."That song is no longer mine."
@MrValbran It wasn't until the music video came out that he felt that way, before hand he felt weird like something was wrong with Cash's version because the song was so personal to Trent. "That song is no longer mine" is in reference to the song being an expression of Trent's individual pain, Don't take it out of context.
And also....to all the people bitching about the band running around stage...haven't you ever seen NIN (like ollld NIN back in the early 90s) perform. They destroyed shit onstage and jumped all over each other. If anything...this is tame by their standards.

I used to listen to the original Pretty hate machine version by Trent reznor while sropping acid and going on crazy trips. This version by Fly leaf..... FACK... This version takes this song to a whole new deeper level.

Though, to me, the song doesn't speak to me like Reznors does. I don't really feel the same listening to this.

@ikutsu2001 Though Trent may be an atheist, this song is not blasphemous..we don't have to agree with all the views and thoughts of the artist to appreciate good music. I mean Jesus was a Jew but its the Christians who worship him and jewish people don't even accept him.

@carlyerae Yes, but the song is art. Though art belongs to everyone, think about how it would be if someone censored the breasts in an old picture.
So much as changing a word of such a beautiful song is something that's a bit of a sting to people like me.

I have been an NIN fan since 1989. I have never missed a show. What Flyleaf did to this song was simply amazing. I love how they jammed it out. YesTrent does convey emotion through singing, however the drive that Lacy and the band put behind the words says alot as well. Maybe its just me but sometimes when someone else puts thier own energy into a song it can become better then the origanal. Trent himself said this about Johny Cashes hurt..."That song is no longer mine."

@MrValbran It wasn't until the music video came out that he felt that way, before hand he felt weird like something was wrong with Cash's version because the song was so personal to Trent. "That song is no longer mine" is in reference to the song being an expression of Trent's individual pain, Don't take it out of context.
