  • When I was about 10 years old (I'm 46 now) my parents took me on a trip to Batoche, Saskatchewan, where I met my Uncle Paulie for the first & only time. I remember sitting in his sprawling backyard when he went into the house & came back with this gorgeous banjo & he began to play. From that day I've always wanted to learn. Well today I begin as I just purchased my very own banjo. I don't know a lick. Not one. I look forward to your tutorials providing the assistance to change that.

  • I have never played before but have been VERY interested in learning. Find your video VERY helpful, and I don't even own a banjo yet. I would be very interested in your opinion on what a good starter banjo would be. I have been dong a lot of research and asking questions but still don't have any real good answers. Most people I know are guitar/mandonlin players.

  • Excellent, thanks!

  • i just tuned my banjo and my top string (halfway string) doesnt sound like his or close to his at all

  • @beauner378 he has a capo on there

  • post more INSTRUCTIONAL videos PLEASE... if you live in Missouri I'll pay you for lessons!!

  • This was very helpful. I've always loved the sound of the banjo, but never had the chance to learn. You're literally my first teacher. My strum doesn't sound as good as yours but it is my first day. Hopefully I pick up everything quickly

  • @oSaraho Relax! I, too, am in the beginning stages. I know several folks who are very good, though, and they all say if you can't be patient with it, don't even pick it up and try. Deep breaths! Now lets learn! hahaa this is gonna be awesome.

  • This was absolutely brilliant. Any chance at all that you can do Old Kentucky Whisky slowly for us to learn it?

    Thanks for all your efforts.

  • great lesson! thanks! where's the next one? :D

  • So is your index finger strumming the 5th string?

  • I found this lesson very, very helpful for me as a beginner clawhammer player. I love your version of Frosty Morn. Could you post a lesson verson for newbies please. I have several "dvd's" but I like what you show in this lesson and would like to see more of your style. Thanks, newbie Tish

  • i just started playing banjo, but i have been using my old acoustic guitar tuner to tune my banjo. Do you suggest that a get a tuner more specific for banjo? I have noticed that my banjo does not sound like others.
