To be truly ignorant is to see your errors and refuse to correct them. I'm an atheist at a Catholic university (oh the irony) and I love every minute of this video. Though he uses some propaganda, like saying these people are deluded before he exposes there delusion, a lot of what he has mentioned would make people of religion be baffled of the delusions by the catholic faith. I have given over a dozen lectures, including before evolution science faculty and students, refuting macro-evolution. At the end I would answer questions and arguments from the audience. EXPLAINING HOW AN AIRPLANE WORKS doesn't mean no one made the airplane. Explaining how life or the universe works doesn't mean there was no Maker behind them. Natural laws explain how the order in the universe works, but mere undirected natural laws can't explain the origin of that order. Once you have a complete, living cell then the genetic code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell naturally originate when no directing code/mechanisms existed in nature?

NATURAL SELECTION IS NO BLIND WATCHMAKER because it can only "select" traits, not produce them. If a trait survives, that survival is called being "selected." Natural selection operates only once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't have been involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it alive! APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged-pawed dog-like creatures. I'm an atheist at a Catholic university (oh the irony) and I love every minute of this video. I just want to note at how interesting and often disturbing how it is looking at religion from the inside as an "outsider". Religion and science can't go hand in hand, but reason can always be used. Science isn't out to disprove religion, and it's also not here to find proof. I have respect for any religious person that can intelligently explain the basis for his or her beliefs.

If anything life and evolving organisms are the Intelligent Designers. We are us, here and we are intelligent (I think.) It wasnt god that evolved from a single cell organism and eventually into a human, it was that organism. Even if life is a one shot thing, or happens all over the universe the only thing that is certain is that LIFE is making life. We are not gods, its simpler and more spread out than all that talk of some centralized final punisher of the wicked fairytale.

If it were not then why do we not have the ability to do things our mind/body doesnt want? Your mind/body wants to prove it has free will, causing it react. No choices. But then free will doesn't really need to exist I think? It almost means nothing. There is no will without the body.

@DjCosmicRush i didnt mean that organisms were 'designing' themselves in a literal sense really... it was more of a metaphor to compare what we do know to exist with supernatural explainations. now natural selection is more along the lines of a logical process but thats a human way of looking at it of course. rolling 100 dice still has a structure to how its going to work, i think thats what theists are focusing/stuck on.

You are assuming that life cannot evolve on its own. Why cant it? For that matter theists are the ones having all the fun with speculation so its my turn -- I think all energy can in its own time evolve into stages of life, given the right conditions in a particular universe. And there are an infinite number of them, all bursts of matter from other dimentions as outlined by Brane-Theory. At least this is derived by science, unlike the fariytale!

If we as humans can't even follow words supposedly written by the so called creator, how can we possibly live in an atheist society? Especially knowing we are only slightly different to chimpanzees?

Fighting depression and guilt at what must be done to survive is part of the reason every culture has had a religion to call its own.

Some people who don't necessarily benefit so much from sitting in the hospital all day, will benefit much more from the placebo effect that blind faith provides them.

I don't, I understand their faith can help them then by all means pray, but going out and traveling some place for blind hope can be detrimental to their health. I understand perfectly that the hope of something can help people and I see your point; I am merely saying that it is stupid to go out at put your health at more risk when you could be getting taken care of.
