He's been helping playing live since the rather ripped tour (due to kim's wrist problems), I think he plays "personal parts" even on old songs, but I'm not sure wether or not he's involved in the actual writing process for the new album..but it's possible, much like what happened with O'Rourke.

yeah he was involved with the writing and recording of The Eternal. pretty much took O'Rourke's place.
