I will always remember the days in the academy meeting your father & family. I knew you would be a great cop because I met your father!! What a great man as yourself!! It truely hurt me to see your dad after your death & to console your family. It was hard to keep that strong face Derek! I miss you & will never forget you! I am a Bedford Heights Police Officer. I attended the funeral for CPD Officer, father, husband, brother, son, cousin, soon to be proud uncle, frat brother Derek Owens. I didn't know Officer Owens, and I still struggle every day over his senseless death. His is not the first funeral I have attended for a Police Officer Killed in the line of duty, but with each one I pray it will be the last. Please god wrap your arms around Ericka, wrap your arms around those two beautiful angels. RIP Derek
