I believe Islam and religion in general is a personal connection with god more than anything else. I don't think it's bad to follow other people's interpretations on religion, but ultimately I believe everyone should follow what they personally believe the texts are saying. There are so many different scholars with conflicting opions out there that it only makes sense for one to follow his or her own interpretation.
