  • I can't believe Bono don't quite remember the lyrics of one of their most beautiful songs ever!

  • Comment removed

  • Hahah he even imitates Edge's style on stage.hahah.you go man!!!!He should have used delay too if it was an electric guitar!!

  • Awesome dude...Love it.

  • Damn, I've to admit I'm jealous :D

    He did it great!

  • mon réve....

  • Haha, I bet they turned his amp down .... then down some more.....and then down even a little more...hahaha

  • Awesome show! I'm down in the ellipse somewhere right in front of Bono in the third row of people!

  • This was my favorite moment. You can tell he's a real fan ~ he imitates Edge's foot stomp and Adam's head nod perfectly. Another great moment: when orange/black Halloween confetti fell from the top of the arena during "city of blinding lights"

  • (Later, at home):

Dad: How was the concert, son?

Kid: Oh, man--incredible!!! I got pulled out of the audience and played "Angel of Harlem" on stage with U2!!!

Dad: Yeah, yeah, yeah...get the hell inside and do your homework. You promised me that you wouldn't do drugs!

  • This song was written about Barack Obama.

  • @CorisDavis913 no dude, it was written about Billie Holiday, an Amerincan jazz singer and song writer.

  • that was soooo cool to see...made me cry a little...squish squish...truly a musician's dream...

  • i was there :) x

  • I WAS THERE! In the elipse and this moment totally rocked. And the fact that it was a longhorn made it THAT much better.

  • OMG, this is a musician's dream, I can really fantasize about something like this, such a lucky guy!

  • that was freaking awesome!!! angel of harlem is my favorite U2 song! that guy was as lucky as they come!!! 5 star's all the way!!

  • i would shit my pants if i were that dude, great show

  • That's my freaking roommate, so damn proud!!!

No it wasn't staged and yes, Sunjay is amazing. He and Bono traded sunglasses haha. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Much love bro!

    -D

  • where was this at?? lucky dude lol

  • I think Texas.

  • @americanpitbull04

It was Dallas, TX. I was there, what a night!

  • @farmerUT I'm not an envious type of person, but this is......almost too much, haha! Nice to read that you say that it couldn't happen to a nicer person, pass my regards if you would, this was very great to watch! All the best!

  • i heard him in a local radio interview afterwards. he had a sign that said "play angel of harlem, here are notes" which they rarely do. In a previous show edge stopped the song and adam told him the note progression. so it was a kind of funny sign that bono saw and finally called the guy out and said " can you play it ? " he said yes he could and they brought him on stage that you see. awesome fan, awesome band.

  • i love U*2:)

  • well done m8

  • AWESOME- THE BEST, oncore~*~*~*~********XXXX

  • That's just Bono for you and the kind of person he is. What's so hard to believe about it?!?!

  • its not a fake, and u don't need to be a musican to play angel of harlem.

    C F G Am, thats all chords :S

  • haha his name is Sunjay, he was at the time a sophomore at UT Austin. it was NOT staged in any way. the kid is a very good guitar player who loved u2. apparently he brought a big sign of the entire song's tablature, which is how he caught bono's eye.

  • the guy on stage is a classmate of my niece in Texas. It's the real deal all right....:o)

  • It's no fake. by some more concerts, you see a lot of fans who plays on the stage with u2.. Bono says in this video: I hope this is a good idea

  • the guy could at least ACT like he was surprised and nervous to be up there playing with the legends U2.

  • staged?

  • Pretty risky decision by the band, what if the guy can't play?

  • We all got to see a dream come true. Nice Job

  • Nice of that guy to volunteer! He has a beautiful Gibson guitar! He should join the group! It would be so cool to play with them!

  • was there that night in Dallas. At the time my wife and I thought it was planted. After seeing this I realize how magical the moment really was. Brings tears. Saw them in Munich in 1987 and they were just as good (relevant) this night!!!

  • lucky,lucky bastard.fair play mate.u did good

  • every time i think that bono can't get any cooler, he pulls out this. i mean, seriously! he tailors lyrics to this guy. and yeah, the guy can't sing, but could any of us really do much better if we were pulled at random to play on stage with U2? i mean, think about it. we'd all be screaching like cats.

  • io ci provo a settembre coi queen XD speriamo in bene hehe...cmq grande lui!

  • Where is it?

  • dallas

  • Yeh that must have been unreal!! Piss easy to play too - C,F,C,F......But it was funny when Bono stopped the band to let the geezer sing..whoooo, you can play a few rythym chords, but you sure can't sing fella....hilarious when Bono gestures to Larry to come back in full on to mask his singing....however u were still up there with the lads so fair play to you.

  • lucky fuck, I'm 100000000% jelous of him

  • I have a video in my profile of the same moment from another angle :)

  • oh man!! that awesome!! mabye someday ill be lucky and bono will pick me out of the crowd!!!!

  • :D Brings back memories!!!!

  • Me and my buddies went to this show in Dallas and it was an amazing concert!! We were inside the ring where everyone was standing on the floor section....Sunjay that must have been a magical experience to feel...you playing with the best band U2...truly magical!! I hope you have framed those sunglasses that Bono gave you....great moment!! The show was incredible!! I can't believe this was on youtube, but am happy to see it on here...too cool!!

  • hero worship is dangerous. don't lose fact that they are a bunch of human beings no different than you.

  • capedcrusader86, what took you sooooo long to feel proud to share, that was g-r-e-a-t, I mean it, I`ve been in some of their concerts and saw things but this...lucky son of a gun..coooooooooooool...=D

  • thanks for the video

U2 IS THE BEST BAND OF THE WORLD

  • i was there too- we thought this was planned. very cool moment!

  • Great to see people enjoyed the video. It was truly a life-changing experience for me.

  • Myspace backslash sunjaydevarajan

  • i was there....you're the guy?

  • yup

  • did they sat anything interesting to you?

  • LOL I love Bono, he always wants the best, most perfect performance. Great guy.

  • ma vaffanculo, bastardo americano

  • Brilliant! I was at this show- the crowd was so psyched when Bono pulled the guy up on stage- and Angel hadn't been played live in a LONG TIME- after this they put it into rotation on the tour. Thanks for posting! **Five*stars**

  • PORCO DIO CHE CULO

  • That was amazing.

  • cool good song

  • It`s very funny when bono realizes that the kid's voice stinks and makes the band play louder to cover it. Other from that the kid really shows off on the guitar and with U2 together they made a awesome gig.

  • hahahah..

  • how cool is bono..at the end he knew the kid couldn't sing so he brings up the sound of the band.

  • What a lucky guy!

  • I've got the butterflies watching. I'm nervous for that kid. He pulls it off without a hitch. I had an ear to ear smile the thoughout the whole song. Seriously, how great is U2?

  • This was by far the best moment of the show. I was so happy for this fan and it really displays the appreciation u2 has for its fans to make their dreams come true. I lived vicariously thru this guy :)

  • This is so amazing. I was there! That is my cowboy hat that Bono takes. It was so amazing to relive that moment. Thank You for the post!!!

  • Awesome!!!

  • This was a great show, and a great moment. I love the part where Bono was talking to himself at the beginning, pondering if this was a wise decision. This band makes me cry every time I see them.

  • Bono seems to hold his fans in high regard, unlike some superstars. If takes 3 minutes of U2's life but they've changed the man's life forever. Well done U2!

  • Only The Beatles have brought more love to the public. U2 is right with them.

  • Thank you for posting this, I was to the left of where this 19 year old UT student from Arlington Texas was pulled from the crowd.

I am originally from Ireland and bought my 14 year old son to the concert and I was 15 when I first saw U2 on an Irish TV show called "Youngline".

We just watched your video and had great memories.

    BEST BAND in the World.

  • thank you for posting... this is great!!!

  • no way this was "unplanned" it had to be set up

  • Nah, it was a fun holding up a sign saying: "Remember? C - F" or something in which C - F are the chords to AoH. Bono asked him ( as seen in the video ) if he could play it and then the whole band played along. It shows how flexible the band is. :)

  • Does anybody know where this show took place? Please answer back

  • Dallas, Texas! American Airlines Center - October 29, 2005.

    I was there :)

  • Larry is the best looking in the band. but bono is fine as well,

  • awsome!!! pretty song played in the vertigo tour!! non-acoustic!!

  • i read this somewhere a while back. thanks for the vid!

  • I don´t believe how generous is Bono, God bless him

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!! I was at this concert about 10 people back from where Bono got the hat from the crowd. It was, in my humble opinion, the best performance of the whole night! It took about 10 days for the "high" of seeing U2 in person for the third time to wear off, and was by FAR the best concert I've ever seen. You can see my experience and more info about Sunjay D at http://www.brennansweb.com/U2/index.asp.

  • That's my boy Sunjay D. I wasn't there, but that's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Thanks a lot for putting it up.

  • How freakin' awesome is that??!!

  • I was there and it was unbelievable. Rock On!!!!
