@Newton131313 That would be another myth. Obviously a larger object in mass would have an higher terminal velocity. But the myth here talks about a box in a car so of course no terminal velocity exists as the cars own speed dictates the speed of the box.
@Tzimnewman3 it is not that simple the tissue box is the object that is possibly fatal and or dangerous and it also depends on the speed. mass x speed
all they had to do was calculate the momentum of the tissue box at a certain speed and then find out if the force exerted on impact would be deadly.. then they could also find out exactly what weight an object would need to have to create a deadly impact force at a given speed.
@Stubpidity well, while it is US show, you may be on to something in that most physics books use metric. base 10 is so much easier to work with....but then again, this is the US. we rarely do anything the easy way. XD
@Shotesu Many nations use other systems. The US does use SI; it is just not required by law. The UK still uses units long abandoned in the US (stones for instance) and many nations use traditional measurements for various things.

People need 100g's to die from stopping (falling off a building). They were under 11g's when they did stunt jumping and they were ok. Even though it was on an airbag. They weren't anywhere close to dying.

cant you just use F=MA? since the mass of the box is so little, the force it hits your head with would be too small for a lethal force right?

If a penny travelling at 64 mph can not kill you then I doubt a card board box would either. Looks like they have allready proven this busted.

@DeltaPhi79 you dont need that much o die from g-forces. 11 g's can kill you and 100g's would reduce you to a pile of guts

@deepoceanfan Look up John Stapp, he did testing in the 40's. They though that 17g's would kill you, they tested him up to 47g's and he lived.

I wish Mythbusters would use standard (SI) units like the rest of the world. Afterall, it is an international show.
Feet, pounds, and especially foot pounds are such ugly units.

Over a short time you have a high allowance for G. Tho, over more than a few seconds you cant take more than 9-14g.

If you sustained 12gs for a continuous period, you might die from it, but for a sudden stop? No way, you'll be fine from 12gs.
