While the report is accurate, they have fallen for the one piece of FUD in the Commercial Felony Streaming Act. There is NOTHING in either version of the legislation that makes VIEWING such videos illegal. Those laws only apply to those who SEND the videos.

If you look at who is supporting Internet censorship, they just happen to be the very same companies that own those who were pushing piracy software and teaching people how to use them. CNET not only distributed applications like Kazaa, but helped users in using it to specifically perform copyright infringement. Yet they are owned by Viacom, a supporter of SOPA.

It's not just Murdoch but media empires the world over. They would love to preserve the status Quo and keep control of the media market behind a pay-wall. However, thanks to the internet we can all be talking heads, and more importantly have the ultimate choice in what we consume in terms of news and views.

The old model had people like Murdoch/BBC/publishers/record companies as the gatekeepers for creative media. You had to pay the gatekeepers to get music/videos/news/art, or had to approach them to get published.

The new model has the gatekeepers removed and the creators of media can publish their stuff without them (iTunes, YouTube, DeviantArt, Blogger, etc etc). Murdoch, and others like him, are just trying to maintain the old model. He is the rail-road tycoon in the age of the Aeroplane.
