  • Fuck i could sing the song as it should.

  • rowwwwwwww thanx

  • This actually was done on the Ride the Lightning tour and he didn't growl then eather but he took some of the notes even higher on one that I found. The track was also in a slightly higher pitch because of recording but in the first verse he takes one word WAY higher than it should be.

  • All you can hear from the audinance when he asks what album it's on is "And Justice For All" and James should have said after that "It's from the blue album with the little chair"

  • ae so falto esa aki no show se sao paulo

  • voihan perkele!!! \,,/

  • love these guys to death. but they are getting too old to play fast anymore

  • Holier Than Thou was played the same day too

  • everyone did good except james' voice was a little wierd

  • Listen too this one and the one from glasgow yesterday. it's been 5 years and the glasgow version owns this right down the crapper both instrumental and vocal.

Can't believe James voice in 2004 was this bad

  • @jckjamjam That's because a fan requested the same day as the show and just went with it. James even said not to blame them if they fuck it up.

  • They need to play Escape live.

  • out for my own out to be free :)

  • That song has so much unrealized potential. So does the Frayed Ends of Sanity

  • one of the best setlists ever :O

  • @555clown666 At least one song from every album up to that point except Load. And they are all awesome songs too.

  • fuck thats the best setlist ever

  • Not enough from Kill 'em All

  • woww very good

  • That's a pretty sic setlist.

  • Woooo cant wait for the Linkin Park/Metallica tour, 1st-2nd august 2009

  • Is that The Frayed Ends Of Sanity I hear in the beginning?

  • yes man

  • Wow I wish I was there...

  • I think it would sound better if they played it more. Yeah its not great, but all things considered it was a pretty good take. Only second time they ever played it live, and the way the are it was probably a last minute thing, with very limited time to rehearse. I have been in that situation a few time playing live. Its fun, but it doesn't always work out so great lol.

  • Oh my god, this is fucking horrible. I'm really going to miss the days when Metallca was great live.

  • yeah, sadly james has lost the voice that made their music so great. the new album is ok but he no longer has that cool growling voice

  • i hate when they do a tease of frayed ends of sanity. i wish they would play it full. its a great song along with escape

  • holy shit this one sounds good played live! Did they ever play Escape?

  • Sadly no, they have never played Escape live, they have jammed a small bit of the song at some live shows similar to the beggining of this video which they were playing 'The frayed end of sanity'

  • One of the most excellent songs Metallica have ever created!!! Amazing...

  • boring without cliff:( bad voice too

  • you said this song is boring without cliff but you never heard cliff play this live so how the fuck you possibly know that

  • Hm.. I cant remember writing that comments. And i dont understand it at all myself. WTF.

I think i was replying to someone or I dont know!

  • oh lmao....

  • the GOTTA play this more!!

  • Agree, one of their most underrated songs.

  • the intro of "the frayed ends of sanity" was inspired in "the wizard of Oz" If you don't know dumbasses, thumbs down to you

  • haha i just notied that, thats so awesome

  • i can't hear if lars plays double bass or not, as he did play it throughout the whole song on the studio version. that's probably why they never play it.

  • Yessir he did.

  • i gotta say that even though they started off with the best intentions and their original music was badass, lars and james turned out to be the two biggest tolls in the music industry...theyre both so snobbish.

  • es una cancion muy buena llena de energia.

  • haha its "the frayed ends of sanity" actually

  • @Bdon69rocks Ummmm. No? Did you watch the whole video?

  • LOL

  • lol, gotta love Papa Het

"Is everyone still here? One, two, three, four, five ... yeah, I trust you." xD

  • intro the frayed ends of sanityyyyyy

  • ...And?

  • Shame Hetfield crapped out a lot on the high notes on the first bit, but he seamed to recover pretty good, and the guitar playing was top notch.

  • why do ppl hate this song?or think it sucks.idk,i like this song myself.its actually pretty good.

  • I think this song is one of their best. For those who disagree, it doesn't suck AS much ass as Saint Anger.

  • i Fuckin love this song!!

  • this is one guitar hero 4 baby!!!!

  • What a good song.

  • Frayed Ends of Sanity in the beginning! Wish they could play THAT song live soon!

  • i want that the frayed ends of sanity will be played by metallica... ALL ! WITHOUT CUT IT ( EXCUSE FOR MY ENGLISH.. I'M ITALIAN XD )

  • this song should be played more often

  • any ride the lighting song should.

  • 4 years time to get better....

  • If you guys are expecting James to sound like he did in 85, I have news for you. James has a voice that merits wear and tear. James started losing his raspiness on his high notes a long time ago back in 1994 or so. Hence why he almost sounds like he is "yodeling" in his high notes (for example, S&M). He still growls in his low notes though. It is unreasonable to expect James to sound like he did 20+ years ago. Considering the type of his voice, he sounds fine.

  • I think Halford and Dickinson still sound every bit as good as they did 20 or even 30 years ago

  • Dickinson is probably the best aging vocalist of all time. He sounds incredible.

  • I have to disagree with you there just a little - I think Halford's got him beat.

  • I think he's singing to high, as they are detuned.

  • metallia rules rusl=fewgfa=j;-gklnpn[pjmkgjhr

  • i cant believe he couldnt remember what album its on.

  • It was a joke. He does that a lot.

  • WWOWW one of my favs!! They should play more this song live, as frayed ends of sanity and dyers eve, great songs!!

  • And Eye Of The Beholder

  • love that one

  • wow.. they realli remembered...whahaha.. one of my fave tracks..

  • Great song, bad version

  • upload more from this show

  • they can't play it slower, i believe...

  • his voice is getting better

  • your damn right.

  • im a huge metallica fan, i saw em four times on this tour, and i must say, its the weakest ive ever heard hetfield's voice. the fact is, his rough ass voice can't handle tours that long anymore. its sad, but true (no pun intended). its better nowadays.. but here it just sux. i saw the second show on this tour in tucson and its the worst metallica show i've seen.

  • He sing good on this Performance...but he have to be a bit rougher....like in the 80'tees

  • haha his voice is fine haha he just sang the song in the wrong key,its very hard to change the key bak after uve started

  • He sings it in the right key.

  • yup

  • Hetfield has improved a shitload since the last tour... And bear in mind, so has the recording equipment...

  • This song was originally an Exodus song from Hammett

  • what makes you say that?

  • It was just a little known fact I read about. Creeping Death was also an Exodus song. look it up, this is true.

  • This song in its entirety was not an exodus song at all. The main riff, the one played during the verse, comes from an Exodus song called "Impaler" that Hammett wrote in the early 80s and features that riff. Exodus used to play that song live when Baloff was in the band, and an official recording never came until "Another Lesson in Violence" and then they recorded a studio version for the first time on Tempo of the Damned and in the credits hammett is credited. TUI merely shares the one riff.

  • we all know 2004 performances were poor. this more than proves it. thankfully james's voice has gotten alot better. this is really a shame.

  • Even though he doesn't have his growl, there is just something about it that makes him sound young when he sings it. Maybe because he is singing almost completely clean?

  • His voice is almost gone, so he can't put much umph behind it anymore

  • if you think his voice is bad here why dont you go ahead and listen to the first few shows.....that singing was worse than anything you can imagine.

  • He tried to sound like RTL version. His balls might not have dropped in 1984.

  • It might require too much effort because it's so FAST .Shame... it's a great song

  • How come it's only the 4th time they have played it? Didn't they play all of the RTL songs during the RTL tour?

  • James is not 20 or 30 anymore... who cares? They still kick S's... and the new songs... I love it... can't wait for the new album

  • Jesus....I've heard cover bands play this song better.

  • Well good for them

  • ho ho ho!!!

  • well considering they just started playing this song an hour before the gig, they did ok. They never play this song live and decided to do so right before the concert. So again shut the hell up you moron.

  • guitar is a little bit off xD

  • not bad for 2004

  • Awesome!

  • I'm suprised they remember how to play this one!

  • Hetfield's vocals sux in this one.

  • James's voice in this song reminds me of myself when I sing Metallica at kareoke. Which I sing it pretty well for that place and time, but James needs to be better.

  • If you guys would listen to more than the first 30 seconds you'd get past the intro to Frayed...and they actually play trapped under ice. Nice to hear...Jaymz seems to struggle though

  • metallica needs to sound like kill em all through the black album to get back to being the best band ever

  • This is in 2004, his voice is much much much better now.

  • im sorry. this is one of my favorite songs from

MetallicA, but james sounds like he is trying scratch his nuts and play at the same time. and robert's bass is too loud. lars and kirk are fine though. they need to play it 6x.

  • God DAMN that SUCKED

However, the original on the album is one of my favorite metallica songs (Metallica ended as we know it after the black album and even thats questionable)

  • yea. thats when the guitars when bluesy and crap. and his vocals started to get more "radio". long live kill em all to justice!

  • lol jaymz doesnt remember his own lyrics

  • They play it too slow.

  • baddddd just badddd. metallica sucked in 2004. every person who has heard them knows that.

  • i bet that is up for you to decide, mmm?

  • omg thats high

    nice

  • the song is awesome james' voice is awesome screaming music is horrible. james old voice was gd but its still class

  • It's a song called The Frayed Ends of Sanity from thei ...and justice for all album :P The song itself kicks major ass.

  • I HATE THAT SHIT IN THE START.. WHY DO THEY ALWAYS PLAY THAT ANNOYING FUCKING SHIT.. OMG D: Anyway.. song roxed.

  • you are a dumbass, thats the frayed ends of sanity...

  • ur an idiot thats frayed ends of sanity song that kick major fukin ass

  • do you have the full concert in audio?

  • if you have the whole show why don't you upload this song with video PLS;)

  • I only have the audio, sorry. Not the best show around but still great!

  • too bad james voice is not as good as it was...

  • This is so awesome, one of my fave songs, so underated. Wish hetfield would scream tho :P

  • fucking awesome!

  • Love this song. The vocals let it down a little bit but still awesome. I have this whole show.

  • Awsome!!
