  • you're a very good pianist! keep up the good work!

  • @SocialitaWantsPie this isnt a piano 0_0

  • i love plating the vibraphone, it makes my day!!

  • Hey dude, very nice music...

I was just wondering if the 4 mallets technique was for more experienced players, or was it just a different technique for different styles or different tastes?

    Nice music keep on playing

  • Thanks, comments appreciated very much.

  • I LOVE that sound - I heard that sound growning up in the late 70's and ealry 80's and I never knew what that sound was - now I know. I think this sound is common among jazz songs, GOD it sounds soo good!

  • Thanks Rob, looked up your brother and heard some of his videos. He has very nice lines. He plays vibes, xylophone and marimba, right?? Where are they playing?

  • You sound great Vibeman! Your sounding like my brother Kevin! Fantastic man!! Rob Tullius...

  • Dave Pike is one of the better vibe players.

  • Hey guys out there check out DAVE PIKE I bought PIKES PEAK in 1963 and

still play it weekly for inspiration.

Keep practicing the worlds greatest instrument BAR NONE

    I am at age 77.

  • this instrument is so under appreciated. Roy Ayers opened me up to this. This is so well played.

  • Your comments are well received.

  • I like the way you play. You remind me of Milt Jackson (my favorite vibs player).

  • I'm really feeling this! Could you recommend any vibe albums or vibe players to look for?

  • @stayclosetome There are a ton of vibe players around to listen to. Milt Jackson, Bobb Hutcherson, Cal Tjader, Gary Burton, Stefon Harris, Ed Seindon, to name a few. On the opening page of YouTube, just type in "vibraphone" and you can spend a week listening to all the different vibe players; mostly good, some great, some bad, but nevertheless, a lot to choose from. For starters I would stick to albums by Milt, Gary, Stefon, Ed, Bobby and Cal Tjader and Mike Maniairi. (Sp)

  • @vibeman27 I appreciate it! I've checked out some of those guys, and look forward to finding the rest. I came across your video a few months ago and have been digging it ever since. This song is beautiful, and you play it perfectly. At times, the way you hold those somber tones reminds me of Vince Guaraldi and Cal Tjader. Stay up! The world needs more genuine music enthusiasts!

  • @vibeman27 I agree also buddy montgomery,a [ seldom heard great player] and the great artistry of lionel Hampton

  • loving it

  • I am( Henry Manning on vibes) my style is a little different . I play and love top 40's music, the 60's-90's hit's.

Your style and music is nice. I love it. I would love to play that one day.

  • You play good. However, I little constructive advise. You seem to sustain the notes to long where they run into each other. To much wah wah wah if you understand what I'm saying. I think you need to define or break a little more between each played note. Otherwise nice job.

  • beautiful! what mallets are you using by the way? you ever try malletech DS-18's?

  • Romantic.

  • Thanks

    Bruce

  • Awesome sound! have you tried expirementing with four mallets?

  • Yes but stopped playing with 4 mallets years and years ago. Am presently beginning to ease my way back to 4 mallets again. But don't expect to be good at 4. :-) not like some of the other guys on Youtube. Thanks for the compliment.

  • Excellent music!!

  • how much does a vibe like that cost?

  • New, about $4000 USD

Used, about $2500 USD in good condition. Not sure, market is changing fast.

  • Let me clarify that a little bit more. New vibes CAN cost a whole lot more, depending on the brand. You can spend up to 7,8, or even 10,000 dollars. Used vibes on Ebay, if you are lucky, can go for a low bid like $1000 or $1500 also depending on the brand.

  • In Russia the price for a new vibraphone (3 octave range) start from 10000 USD (no joke).

  • Great Sound there, Bruce. Don't ever quit playing.

About those collaborations you'd like to do. Get a copy of the freeware, Audacity. It will let you play a .wav or .mp3 at the same time you record. If you have some of the Aebersold or equivalent backings on CDS, you can RIP them to .wav files. All you need is a good quality microphone or maybe you already have pickups on the vibes.

  • Audacity will let you lay your playing on a separate track while playing the others so you can mix it with the originals and balance it as you wish. If there is a latency or delay in the recording, Audacity lets you slide the track(after recording) to put it back in sync.

There are several of us who are doing collaborations. Take a look at crazydaisydoo's sax channel. It would be interesting to have a 3 way collaboration on something. There's nothing like the sound of real vibes.

  • Am doing a search for Audacity now. Sounds like some terrific software. Thanks

  • Beautiful indeed...

    Nice job, Bruce

  • Beautiful, Bruce!!

    Chris
