Nick Jr. certainly had great shows back in the day. Maya the Bee, David the Gnome, The Adventures of The Little Koala, Eureka's Castle, The Elephant Show, Lunch Break Theater, The Noozles, The Little Bits, Muppet Babies, The Muppet Show, Fred Penner's Place, and many other shows, way before Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, or whatever is on Nick Jr. nowadays. I will miss them classic days of Nick Jr. and classic Nickelodeon. Them times of the late 80s and the 90s were wonderful and fun for me.
Ahh, I was born to late! I wish I was born in the 80's to experience these type of shows! You 80's people are lucky you get to see good hand drawn shows like this. That counts for the music to.
*GAH!* I know I've said it already, cannot express how much I love this song! 0:34 until the vocal reprisal (not that there's anything wrong with it) has ALWAYS sent a chill down my spine. You know how kids just get up and move on to the next exciting thing after their show is over? I always waited through the credits just for this! <3
@Rozax i know EXACTLY what you mean, that is my favorite part.. i found these end credits a few years after i found the opening song and i just started crying when i heard that part again! soo many memories came flooding back. amazing tune! and synthesizers never hurt either ;) i love how 80s it sounds
I managed to snag a copy of the show from amazon.com, but I'd like to cut into the ending credits and replace it with this melody. You know, the CORRECT one. The one they have on the current DVDs reminds me of Barney.
@Rozax The end credits music on the DVDs is actually the original Spanish ending song without lyrics. Even though it's technically the original, I still like this one better. :)
Wow, my generation got a cartoon like David the Gnome, the current generation of children gets Gnomeo and Juliet. Let it sink in just how lucky we were in the realm of animated entertainment fellow millenials.
@makosharkman I do know the ending of the show, yes *nods*
Other then that I...haven't properly watched in a long time, so I don't remember the episodes very well, and Youtube doesn't seem to have many of them
When I was little, I couldn't appreciate it, instead thought it was boring and waited this to end before my favourite generic action cartoon began... However watching it again being an adult I realized this is a really good and moving cartoon. The last episode when I watched it first time as a kid, I did feel a bit sad about it even though it wasn't my favourite show.
To the comment bellow, your not the only one in there 30's who loved this show back in the day. I'm 32 and I still remember watching this like it was yesterday. This really brings me back.
Rest in Peace Tom Bosley (voice of David). We 80's children love you, and hope to see you in heaven to thank you personally for all the warm and magical memories. You rock man, and you will be in our hearts always.
Love,
Cyn (who watched David the Gnome shamelessly from pre-school until her senior year of college :) )
omg.. this ending brings back memories. i always remembered the beginning theme clearly but this one had faded into unconscious memory. no longer.. i love the synth piano :D thank you so much for this
They didn't use this for the end credits in the DVDs. I LOOOVE the musical edition of the opening credits. I'm very happy that this is on DVD, but it's so depressing that they cut out what really was (after the episode itself) my favorite part of the episodes.
One can get the series in dvd on english on the internet, some of the episodes are not the best quality however. I miss this show, look up David der Kabauter, the begining music is different....see which one you like better. I prefer the english version, although it's not my common language
I know they were the bad guys in the series, but I always loved watching the trolls during the creds. It just matches the beat of the music. Ahhh nostalgia
@rudeartist lol those trolls were kind of creepy during the show, but them dancing at the end was funny. Damn I miss this show and all the great shows that USED to come on Nickelodeon.
@rudeartist God I love this! I need it when I am sick of my adult life, I wish I could do what darthraneful said; "relive my childhood" there is so many things that I miss and the stuff that I see today just isn't amusing or anything. Maybe because there is no feeling or emotions in it.
I was born in 1985, so when this show aired, I was only 2!! But it played in reruns on Nick Jr all the time, so I actually remember watching it rather often, especially during the day on my sick days and when I got the chicken pox.
@TehFoog I'm a bit older than you guys (1977), but I loved this show just as much. Always was fun staying home from school when I was "sick" watching Nickelodeon all day.
you have to listen the ending in spanish!!, is really beautiful!!, I love this cartoon, I saw it when I was a child and I cry even now!, here in Chile (south america) I saw it about...1992, 1993, wonderful, beautiful cartoon!
David the Gnome was really my favorite cartoon as a kid. I don't remember much of it, because I was 5 or 6 at the time. Swift the fox is my favorite character.
My brother and I were about 4 or 5 when I first started watching David the Gnome - we absolutely loved it, but for some reason, my mom couldn't stand it!
We even watched this show when Nick Jr. was created, probably until the mid-90s. Such a nice show. I just can't understand why my mom didn't like it...she said it drove her nuts!
The show was made in Spain in 1985 and first went by "David el Gnomo." It reran on Nick Jr. (Nickelodeon for preschoolers) from 1987-1995. About a year later, it reran on The Learning Channel for a couple of years.
Alot of what I grew up with moved into the Nick Jr. block in the 90s, and me and my brother, until we were probably 11, watched Nick Jr., and kept watching Nickelodeon itself until we were 14.
This here is INDEED a classic. I loved this show and still do. They just don't make em this good anymore. And you gotta love the keyboards on this ending.
Nick Jr. certainly had great shows back in the day.
