  • Nick Jr. certainly had great shows back in the day. Maya the Bee, David the Gnome, The Adventures of The Little Koala, Eureka's Castle, The Elephant Show, Lunch Break Theater, The Noozles, The Little Bits, Muppet Babies, The Muppet Show, Fred Penner's Place, and many other shows, way before Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, or whatever is on Nick Jr. nowadays. I will miss them classic days of Nick Jr. and classic Nickelodeon. Them times of the late 80s and the 90s were wonderful and fun for me.

  • Dis tune really makes your heart sink!!!

  • anyone like their childhood better than being an adult?

  • oh gosh. hearing this music again makes me wanna cry. i grew up with this show, and so many others from the late 80s to 90s :')

  • wow.. 16 years ago.

  • Reminds me of a simpler time watching this with my brother...time goes by so fast

  • :40-:48

    I want my childhood back

  • God i miss this so much they need to make a classic Nick channel I would have it on 24-7 and show my kids real tv.

  • I always remembered the scene where she changes the rag from yellow to red, and the one when he blows that bubble. Great memories.

  • Ah the sadness of growing up the only thing I loved about my childhood was my favorite cartoons. I would go back to them any day.

  • Ahh, I was born to late! I wish I was born in the 80's to experience these type of shows! You 80's people are lucky you get to see good hand drawn shows like this. That counts for the music to.

  • @brb1006 I actually saw this in the early to late 90's when they played it on Nick Jr, and The Learning Channel.

  • wow. i vaguely remember seeing this when i was a kid or baby

  • I miss the 90s

  • RULE 34, BITCHES!!

  • You gotta love that 80's Never ending story synth

  • How about I credit your shit?

  • At rozax..I know exactly what you mean.that part of the song is sick.the melody has stuck with me for about...idk..over 20 years.

  • *GAH!* I know I've said it already, cannot express how much I love this song! 0:34 until the vocal reprisal (not that there's anything wrong with it) has ALWAYS sent a chill down my spine. You know how kids just get up and move on to the next exciting thing after their show is over? I always waited through the credits just for this! <3

  • @Rozax i know EXACTLY what you mean, that is my favorite part.. i found these end credits a few years after i found the opening song and i just started crying when i heard that part again! soo many memories came flooding back. amazing tune! and synthesizers never hurt either ;) i love how 80s it sounds

  • @starsweet4 @Fraymohitz Always happy to meet kindred spirits. :)

I managed to snag a copy of the show from amazon.com, but I'd like to cut into the ending credits and replace it with this melody. You know, the CORRECT one. The one they have on the current DVDs reminds me of Barney.

  • @Rozax The end credits music on the DVDs is actually the original Spanish ending song without lyrics. Even though it's technically the original, I still like this one better. :)

  • I now know for sure: Gnomes love synthesizers!

  • Wow, my generation got a cartoon like David the Gnome, the current generation of children gets Gnomeo and Juliet. Let it sink in just how lucky we were in the realm of animated entertainment fellow millenials.

  • @mikedrummonds if only Gnomeo and Juliet had doppey trolls like this show did.

  • @makosharkman If only you would eat shit and chop your balls off.

  • @mikedrummonds what the fuck are you talking about?

  • @mikedrummonds Truer words have yet to be spoken.

  • I love this song. Although I have to admit, the slow, peaceful music seems kind of sad if you've seen the final episode. It seems so....final =/

All the same: "In every wish and dream and happy home, you will find the Kingdom of the Gnomes!" ^_^

  • @RazorRaven619 tell me what was the final episode?

  • @makosharkman "The Mountains of Beyond" episode 26

  • @RazorRaven619 and what happen in that episode?

  • @makosharkman If you haven't seen it, I probably shouldn't spoil it ^^;

  • @RazorRaven619 I guess not but do youremember what it is?

also what are your faverit episodes?

  • @makosharkman I do know the ending of the show, yes *nods*

Other then that I...haven't properly watched in a long time, so I don't remember the episodes very well, and Youtube doesn't seem to have many of them

    Apologies for the late reply ^^;

  • @RazorRaven619 well im sure they will someday.

its oaky im sure you were busy.

  • @makosharkman You should type in final ep of David the Gnome. Its sad to see what happens to the 3 gnomes.

  • @brb1006 why do they die?

  • @makosharkman According to the original story. When Gnomes turn 400 years old they have to find a place where they turn into trees.

  • @brb1006 Are You Series is that what happen to David and Lisa and his whole Family at the end of the very show?

  • I WANT MY CHILDHOOD BACK : (

  • @MultiSinoda me to.

  • Does anyone here have the 1980 "Gnomes" intro? Part of the song has "rap" in it..

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X thats the beginning of that cartoon called "the wisdom of the gnomes"

  • @CaramelMamiChula

    Thank you.

  • When I was little, I couldn't appreciate it, instead thought it was boring and waited this to end before my favourite generic action cartoon began... However watching it again being an adult I realized this is a really good and moving cartoon. The last episode when I watched it first time as a kid, I did feel a bit sad about it even though it wasn't my favourite show.

  • To the comment bellow, your not the only one in there 30's who loved this show back in the day. I'm 32 and I still remember watching this like it was yesterday. This really brings me back.

  • I wish they hadn't changed the song for the end credits in the DVD release. :(

  • @Rozax crap, that makes me not want it! but seriously, how can you buy the DVD?! where?

  • @starsweet4 I bought my copy from amazon.com a little over a year ago.

  • Rest in Peace Tom Bosley (voice of David). We 80's children love you, and hope to see you in heaven to thank you personally for all the warm and magical memories. You rock man, and you will be in our hearts always.

    Love,

Cyn (who watched David the Gnome shamelessly from pre-school until her senior year of college :) )

  • omg.. this ending brings back memories. i always remembered the beginning theme clearly but this one had faded into unconscious memory. no longer.. i love the synth piano :D thank you so much for this

  • This was the show that came on and you were hella mad because you fucking hated it.......then you would watch it anyway.

  • @skydiamond3 Why would I hate it? It starred the old guy from Happy Days.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion yes tom bosly did the voice of david and unfortunely,he passed away.

  • @CaramelMamiChula Yeah, I heard about that. Sucks, really.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion you mean.... FATHER DOWLING!!!

  • Who knew this cartoon would have such an impact on front yard decorations?

  • Watch David swing and the monsters dance would always make me laugh.

  • David the gnome had some of the most mature and romantic relationships ever in a kids cartoon.

  • They didn't use this for the end credits in the DVDs. I LOOOVE the musical edition of the opening credits. I'm very happy that this is on DVD, but it's so depressing that they cut out what really was (after the episode itself) my favorite part of the episodes.

  • "GNOMERCYYYYYYYY!!!!!"

  • I always thought it was cute how David and his wife danced at the end

  • Yeah I Remembered This Show When I Was A Kid.

  • Sometimes, I wish I could go back in time and relive my childhood.

  • I wish it was the 80's-90's again.

  • @ac120479 Yeah me too.

  • @ac120479 - me too. The 80s were a great time to grow up in. I miss these cartoons. Nothing like today.

  • One can get the series in dvd on english on the internet, some of the episodes are not the best quality however. I miss this show, look up David der Kabauter, the begining music is different....see which one you like better. I prefer the english version, although it's not my common language

  • David = The Mario of that time. Noticed how Mario is that wild and happy.

  • I Remembered This And Lady Lovelylocks Being On TV In 1987.

  • I know they were the bad guys in the series, but I always loved watching the trolls during the creds. It just matches the beat of the music. Ahhh nostalgia

  • @rudeartist lol those trolls were kind of creepy during the show, but them dancing at the end was funny. Damn I miss this show and all the great shows that USED to come on Nickelodeon.

  • @rudeartist God I love this! I need it when I am sick of my adult life, I wish I could do what darthraneful said; "relive my childhood" there is so many things that I miss and the stuff that I see today just isn't amusing or anything. Maybe because there is no feeling or emotions in it.

  • If your heart is true,

you will find the kingdom of the Gnomes

  • @joeywomer If that doesn't work, there's always Google. :P

  • dude i am in tears right now ha

  • Good memories will do it to you bruh...

  • I was born in 1985, so when this show aired, I was only 2!! But it played in reruns on Nick Jr all the time, so I actually remember watching it rather often, especially during the day on my sick days and when I got the chicken pox.

  • I was born in 80's too and I started watching it when I was 5, that and the fairy tales stories, koala club (something).

  • @TehFoog I'm a bit older than you guys (1977), but I loved this show just as much. Always was fun staying home from school when I was "sick" watching Nickelodeon all day.

  • you have to listen the ending in spanish!!, is really beautiful!!, I love this cartoon, I saw it when I was a child and I cry even now!, here in Chile (south america) I saw it about...1992, 1993, wonderful, beautiful cartoon!

  • Haha! Rock on! I always loved it when he jumped into the bush of flowers and got pricked. The song was the best.

  • My brother still laughs at that even to this day.

  • I love the song!!!

  • I miss music like this, that is what I love about my childhood.

  • David the Gnome was really my favorite cartoon as a kid. I don't remember much of it, because I was 5 or 6 at the time. Swift the fox is my favorite character.

  • My brother and I were about 4 or 5 when I first started watching David the Gnome - we absolutely loved it, but for some reason, my mom couldn't stand it!

We even watched this show when Nick Jr. was created, probably until the mid-90s. Such a nice show. I just can't understand why my mom didn't like it...she said it drove her nuts!

  • Now that I think of it, I was mabie about your age (4-5) when I saw this.

  • It was in 1987, so I was probably almost 5 when it started airing on Nickelodeon.

  • The show was made in Spain in 1985 and first went by "David el Gnomo." It reran on Nick Jr. (Nickelodeon for preschoolers) from 1987-1995. About a year later, it reran on The Learning Channel for a couple of years.

  • Alot of what I grew up with moved into the Nick Jr. block in the 90s, and me and my brother, until we were probably 11, watched Nick Jr., and kept watching Nickelodeon itself until we were 14.

    We loved this show!!!

    Thank you for the information!

  • Anyone know the name of that font, with the fancy letter "U" in it?

  • it's either called "Enchanted" or "Korrina" font, b/c it's the same font also used on "Jeopardy!" for the questions.

  • It was also used on the "Sons and Daughters credits" from late 1984 to the end of the series.

  • This here is INDEED a classic. I loved this show and still do. They just don't make em this good anymore. And you gotta love the keyboards on this ending.

  • brings back alot of memories...

  • I liked this closing theme best.

  • I'v always wondered what was that thing that David was blowing the bubble out of?

  • It is probably glass.

  • I believe that David was blowing Glass.

  • If I remembered correctly, this version of the music for the end credits were used in the first and last episodes.

  • i might be a grown man now but i still love the beat to this song lol.

  • I agree dude! This shit makes me happy lol

  • @Sarcasm24 those three trolls made me happy they crack me up.

  • I loved the cartoon series of David the Gnome. I watched it on Nick Jr. since I was 4 years old. I haven't seen one episode since I was 7.

  • that's because they ended it sadistically. look up David the Gnome kicks the bucket. pretty f' ed up
