Reginald, you are wrong about the SCOTUS decision. The ruling wasn't about corporate personhood. It's true that corporations are not truly people. That's not the reason for the ruling.
The reason the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Citizens United is that corporations are GROUPS of People who pool resources to make a political point. Corporate personhood is a Red Herring in this debate.

As far as accountability, I would think that if it can be proven that someone made decisions within a corporate with the intention to murder people, then that person can be tried and punished for murder. No law, regardless of whose freedom of speech they are trying to limit. Congress cannot touch speech, if we follow the docs.
The main thing to keep in mind regarding the Constitution is that it was written in a way to restrain the powers of the federal government. The founders wanted to restrain the government's powers because back at that time they had just won their liberty from a tyrannical government and did not want the same happening again.

I would have backed it up myself, except that it would have been a poor use of my time to give a 500 character abbreviated explanation of the topic when I could just direct you to videos made by others who, having also read the court documents, share the same fact-based (which is more than can be said about the majority of the citizenry) opinion.
If I felt I could have given a better defense of my viewpoint here in the comments than they did in their videos, I would have done so.

The corporate donations is a huge red herring. You haven't seen how now small groups are now able to compete with larger wealthier groups in voicing their opinion. This ruling strengthens 1A.

If a corporation did NOT have individual rights, then it would be PRIVATE PROPERTY protected under property rights.
A corporation is a "legal" person on paper, that can't go to jail. This is why they do so many illegal acts just to get fined. That's it. No jail time.

The media of course will only pick parts of this to show us so we are convinced he was a lone, troubled individual with a history of failure. What woudl be the point? Wouldn't the current parties just flow right into the new parties? If you believe in actual reform, then why not pick one of the two parties and reform it? If I ever see a good 3rd party that can actually win, I'll support it. But I don't see that happening. I think 3rd party support, right now, is a recipe for America'd demise. Right now, all we can do is our duty as citizens and wait for this camel's back to break. We're too late to fix this.

Reginald, you are wrong about the SCOTUS decision. The ruling wasn't about corporate personhood. It's true that corporations are not truly people. That's not the reason for the ruling.
The reason the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Citizens United is that corporations are GROUPS of People who pool resources to make a political point. Corporate personhood is a Red Herring in this debate.

This legal fiction is created so that, for example a corporation may own a piece of real estate or enter into contracts. The debate is how the rights and obligations should differ from those of regular people due to the nature of a corporation and I think Reginald stated his point well, although it is a complex subject with many gray areas.

This video explains clearly why so many politicians are retiring. The see the storm on the horizon. I knew the number of looming foreclosures was extremely large but I didnt imagine it was this huge. Dont forget what follows the foreclosures...plunging property values and upside down mortgages for everybody else.

Great video Demcad. My dad's house is under foreclosure and it's going back to Sheriff's sale in March 31st. The good news is that he has a contract and is trying to work with the mortage company now to get the foreclosure down. Great news is that were getting a few firearms for self defence. After we get that were getting dummy rounds, spare parts, some katalyn water filters, and QuikClot. Check out QuikClot though, it could save your life and it is a great investment for your bug out bag.

Foreclosures have to happen. 95% of Americans live beyond their means, mainly due to purchasing a home that's worth half as much as they borrowed to pay for it.
When politicians and corporations violate laws they somehow get off with a settlement. When a citizen does the same crime they are put in prison for life. The only politicians who are put away are the ones that rock the boat. Like Sanford, the only governor to refuse stimulus and they destroyed him. Just like Traficant.

Isn't a corporate a group of individuals? Why should any of the rights be stripped when individuals organize as a group. As far as accountability, I would think that if it can be proven that someone made decisions within a corporate with the intention to murder people, then that person can be tried and punished for murder. As far as the supreme court ruling, i believe it specifically excludes foreign corporations from having this right extended to them.

First, we do not get our rights from the government but rather we created the government in order to secure our rights. We had our rights before the government even existed. See the Declaration of Independence, which is part of US law, for more info on that.

"Congress shall make no law"... "abridging the freedom of speech"
That does not give us our freedom of speech, it prohibits the gov from taking it away. It also does not say Congress shall not make certain laws... it is written that "Congress shall make NO law" abridging the freedom of speech. No law, regardless of whose freedom of speech they are trying to limit. Congress cannot touch speech, if we follow the docs.

The main thing to keep in mind regarding the Constitution is that it was written in a way to restrain the powers of the federal government. The founders wanted to restrain the government's powers because back at that time they had just won their liberty from a tyrannical government and did not want the same happening again.

They did not have any inalienable rights before the Constitution because corporations were not created by God.
Therefore, any rights they are given are civil rights, and may be taken away.

I agree with you to a large extent. My issue is that Congress lacks the required constitutional authority for legislating whatsoever on the issue of speech. Specifically that Congress shall make "no law" abridging the freedom of speech.
The Declaration states that rights come from each person's "Creator." For some that could be God, for others maybe just their humanity. The important thing is just to know that rights do not come from the government & are beyond big gov's ultimate control.

I thought about it a bit and I think I'll have to side with freedom (again) when it comes to the corporations being able to make TV Ads and whatnot because you know, it is self-regulating in that if they say, "This guy!" then they stand the chance of alienating customers and losing business. All a corporation is is a group of people and if they decide it is in their best interest to support a candidate, let the me do so publicly. It will be clear as day to see who backs who.
