  • thanks man i forgot the first line now i know, ill be performing this form in a tournaments, and the competition is weak, as every one will be doing sparring, im bound to get that HUGE trophy

  • i´ve read a lot of comentaries about this form, but really for myself i´ve practice karate and tkd, the steps in this form are bad executed, but as many said it goes more on karate than tsd

  • i bet even this master doesent even know what he isdoing in that form (most dont)

  • and people this is karate. and karate is with weapons as well, what karate means...."empty hand" is a bad translaton it doesen mean empty hand as in nothing in your hand, kara stands for the void, and what it means is *points to head* "empty," *holds up hand* "hand" basicaly it means train so much that you dont have to think about it.

"i do not hit, it hits all by itself"

  • @MrBoneStripper98 this is tang soo do bro it means art of the knife hand... karate is okinowan.. tang soo do is korean.

good info tho u put out.

  • @chess626

i always thought it ment "way of china hand" (i started out in tang soo do)

and it was tought to the koreans by someone from japan. look up its roots.

  • This is a Tang Soo Do kata, I have learned this one, but in a different style. This is mainly a Korean art, but my instructor teaches it more Japanese, and you can see the difference. It really matters who teaches it to you.

  • @higuysovahere

yes it doe i to am a student of tang soo do and eve though it means "way of china hand" it orginaly came from japan, though the koreans didnt like the japanese so they call it W.O.C.H. and insadently the koreans wher tought this martial art wrong, so that it would have flaws (you can actualy see it in the masters high block i dont see it holdingup against a staff) look into "ishin ru" "shoin ru" and Jay Penfil. dont get me wrong the level that he exicuted the form was amazing.

  • II have a gdrading coming up (Blue Belt) and I always have trouble with this form so my friend showed me this video and i am alot more comfadent that i will pass now i've seen this!

  • @NessieBlackTeamJacob ....your a blue belt and doing PYUNG AHN forms? thats crazy...you should be doing taeguk forms...what martial art do you do?

  • @PianoCassidy

I do Tang Soo Do and we have to do every form we learn for our gradings after red belt!!!

What martial arts do you do???

  • @NessieBlackTeamJacob

i do Tae kwon do....but i traing with the masters, so I know a little of all the martial arts:)

Im a second degree black belt.

  • @PianoCassidy

Cool my sister is a second degree black belt as well!!

    But in Tang Soo Do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She stopped 3 years ago though to go to uni!!

    (Vet Student!!)

    Soz about the confusion!!!

  • i allways feel let down when i see people from the various different path of martial arts or even the same one bickering and insulting each other you should feel ashamed at what you are doing since the first lesson a master can teaches is respect for others as well as yourself all you are doing is lowering the level of you club and art NOT defending it

  • I have done these forms and they are Tang Soo Do, but I thought the same thing, this Master made it look more like Karate. Not bashing any one, just stating an observation

  • HIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im just a 9th gup and im learning pyung ahn sam dan

  • I only have time to attend one class per week, and I tend to forget the forms that I am taught due to no time to practice. Thanks for putting this up so I can refresh my memory I appreciate it.

  • It's hilarious to me to see all the people criticizing this video. Unless you are a black belt master like the man performing the form in this video, shut up.

  • @cafrine6880

well i dont have to be a master but i am a black belt.

(in tang soo do,kobu jitsu and tang soo jitsu.)

any way i hav traind with the best and can see he is way to tens, you must be relaxed to generate proper power.

as well if you do the history on tang soo do you find that the koreans wher instructed the wrong way by the japanese for a reson.

and befor you tell me i dont know what im talking about i suggest you look up the history of it as well

  • he does inside outside blocks instead soo dos

  • is ITF

    tang soo

  • hahaha funny yells its all about muay thai sorry guys..

  • Thank-you This is the form I am grading with it is sltightly different to how I have been taught to do it but mainly the same.

    Thanks

  • yawa kang opawa ka.

  • I learned that form as a green belt - big deal! This is a black belt?

  • This is a Master taking time out to do a Basic form for Basic people like yourself.

  • @ejektro

yea right also a prim example of how the koreans wher traind to wrong way.

and if he is such a "master" then why was he so tens and not loose like your supposed to be you cannot generate proper power or speed if you are tight.

i person who trains in wing chun would eat him alive

  • @MrBoneStripper98 like i said.. your a basic minded person. your reply demonstrates that.

  • @ejektro

and your a stupid minded person for not persuing the knowlage i have presented for you and basic minded excuse me im the one looking shit up and training with some of the best and you have the nuts to call me basic minded look in the mirror you fucking hipocrit, look up master jay penfil (also on face book) and peter carbone,(maybe you will learn something)

if yo dont then you will prove every thing i just said about you, hows that for simple minded you self absorbed prick!!!

  • @ejektro

you probly dont even know what the word "karate" actualy means

  • @VistaXXX2008 He's doing it for demonstrative purposes, genius.

  • I love thsi form

  • This is indeed a tang soo do form, but don't kid yourself....this kata is not done the "style" of real/ traditional tang soo do. What your are witnessing on this video is shotokan karate applied to a tang soo do form. Yes, all of the moves are correct and done with power, but the spirit of the tang soo do is missing from his kata. I'm sure Mr. Chontas would admit this to you if you were to ask him.

  • Not to be confrontational, but I dont think its a matter of applying shotokan to his form, rather, he has gained a level of understanding regarding correct hip movement, and has applied it to his form. Hip movement is universal, done correctly it can be applied to any martial art, or martial sport. It's not just shotokan that places an emphasis on rotation of the hips to drive the body.

As for the spirit of Tang Soo Do, next time please try to be more vague. :-P

  • I'd have to agree with nyhokie here. This looks more like karate than it does TSD or SBD. Yes, the hip can be used in all martial arts but in TSD/SBD it's a lot more dramatic. You can really see the twisting and unwinding that goes on.

I use these videos as a reference guide for what techniques are used in each form since I train alone. The execution is different from how I was taught.

  • TSD and SBD main philosophy likes in the Hu Ri or power of the Hip.. Its not only Shotokan that does this. Ever heard of the Song of the Sip Sam Seh? Look it up.

  • @awkm Trust me, this is Tang Soo Do. I train in a real dojang, and while his motions are exaggerated, it's obvious that he is doing this for demonstrative purposes. You obviously won't take this much time to exaggerate your motions when doing a form in a real training environment.

  • It's good to see the form being performed in its traditional sense. Good job!

    Master D

    Desert Moon Tang Soo Do

  • i do the modern ee dan but that was very good power.

    ps funny kia

  • Thats exactly how I do it, I've seen some variations, but i'm with the other comment, the Ki Hap is funny lol

  • Well executed, good power. Just that funny exagerated "Ki Hap" (yell) more like a scream, it seems to out of place.
