Man this was one of my fave shows in the 90's. I'm not a person who ever watched much tv at all, but this happens to be one of the few shows I did watch. This show is still better than most of the crap we see on tv today, especially since networks are obsessed with putting pointless reality shows on all the time.
man ... I started watching this a week ago. I was born 94. when I got into elemantary school, this series was already over. Now, almost 12 years later, I start watching this and I LOVE it!!!! I'm in the middle of the third season and I can't wait for the next episodes.
Watching this in 2011 for the first time while it has been long over for most other people since over 10 years. weird feeling.
I was born in 88, I remember making my parents record this show every week for me...I don't remember why but for some reason I completely stopped watching it after season 2 or 3, I think my country (the UK) stopped showing it. :(
I think I'll start watching it again, it was way ahead of it's time.
Also, if you like sci-fi shows then I recommend watching Fringe, it has stories that feature alternate Earths.
there should be a movie or resolution to this show and i believe there is a petition on the internet, it was ridiculous how they ended the show with only Rembrandt as the only original character and an unresolved plot line
I like how Wade was captured by the Cromags and sent to a breeding prison and tortured and the other sliders were like, "Oh well, she's gone... hey look, a dinosaur! Yay!"
This show was epic. Especially those off plot episodes that summarized the series so far. It was so sad that episode they returned home but only had 3 minutes to check if that was their home world and they eventually went away not knowing this was their home. And the end was... Well sad endings have strong impact although they are SAD. Only 1 of the original sliders was left...

They replaced the "Quinn" character with another actor (Robert Floyd). But unfortunately the actor was miscast and lacked the charm and wit that Jerry O'Connell brought to the show.

walmart, target. kmart and best buy all have sliders season 4 for like near 40 to 50 bucks. but if u go to the fye or buy site, they have season 4 for 20 and 23 bucks. i just got mine from buy

Now i am 18 and I understand the story now. A great idea to think about: What would be if something was different in the past. One of the best series ever.
One of my most favourite showa growing up as a kid in the early to mid 90's, but i do have to say that they ruined it by killing of the professor, having wade abducted by the ruthless kromaggs and not to mention by joining quinn and colins bodies during the first slide of the fifth season. The writers totally screwed up by killing off the main characters, with the exception of remy who, as we all know, stayed until the last episode.
YEAH! AMAZING SHOW! My friends and I found the gateway, now the problem is, finding a way back home *guitar riff*. My fav episodes are Patient Zero, Breeders, and Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome.

I used to love this show. It should have kept Quinn, Wade, Rembrandt and the Professor throughout. None of the later characters can measure up to them.

Sliders essentially took the parallel dimension concept fused it with a kind of wormhole looking portal and the basic ideas of time travel (even though it is not a time travel show) and packaged it as a drama. The first two seasons of Sliders were the best as the concept was still fresh and the stories were enjoyable.

its funny, there was one episode in which they really came home...but they said "ho will we know we are home" then another one said , my gate always made some noise when i open it so lets try...as they opened the gate did not make noise, and no they entered the portal again...after they entered the portal a man came from the house and was a mechanic who just fixed the gate ahahahha....ohh and wait they were follwed by a huge alien space ship whenever they went...what happend after that....
This is the best thing ever to been shown on tv it's simply one word beath taking . I have series 1-5 on dvd including a timer replica and it's just so amazing.
I remembered reading a magazine article on how the show became more and more intolerable when Fox network started meddling with its creative control from the producers. As a result Season 3 became a bunch of cliches taken from various sci-fi or action romp. After heading to Sy-Fy (formerly Sci-Fi Channel), Season 4 reverts back to Season 2 style. Season 5 became a low point after both Connell brothers left the show, although it has its moments.
story wise, that dimension hoping would get somebody killed, actually makes sense. But god damn, Arturo's death could have been less corny; he died because someone sucked out hsi brain juice come on! The character deserved a more heroic death! And quinn mallory dies because he is part of an experiment? Seriously here.....

I mean, the likelihood of surviving parallel universe jumping, is in fact LESS than zero. Sooner or later, you will run into a universe that will off you. But the death, could have been written better GOD. In one universe I'm a "pimp" stud who gets hundreds of "bitches." In another, a hated tyrant "bang," I'm dead. Again, survival odds were low from the start, but Jesus the writting...

You're right about that. Fox has a history of cancelling great shows, and intervening with and ruining great shows. When will networks/producers learn that their input sucks, and to just let the director and writers do their jobs.
@steviekeyz fox is responsible for cancelling 1044563345363 shows. Why anyone will sign up with fox to start a show is beyond my understanding. Who knows perhaps they got shitload of money.
I have yet to find an old show that was not skull fucked canceled by fox.

They decided to take creative control of the show til the creator left, stop the relationship developing between jerry's and sabrina's character, got rid of john rhys-davies, and decided to make it more action oriented and get rid of the more alternate history storyline. Sci-Fi actually tried to correct it once they got it (even bringing back the kromaggs from the second season). Fox generally ruins anything.

Man this show was awesome, and Season 2 was definitely my favorite season---not only did it have the best intro theme, but the show really hit its stride during this season. Subsequent seasons just started to really fall flat, especially after Arturo was killed off and they brought in Kari Wuher. Things continued to 'slide' (pun intended) after they got rid of Wade, easily my favorite character of the bunch.

Two things they should have done:
Other sliders from advanced civilisations both future and alternate.
Meet themselves assuming universes are formed by decisions, then more recent doubles.
If nether come up with a explanation as to why like some universes just collapse.

its funny, there was one episode in which they really came home...but they said "ho will we know we are home" then another one said , my gate always made some noise when i open it so lets try...as they opened the gate did not make noise, and no they entered the portal again...after they entered the portal a man came from the house and was a mechanic who just fixed the gate ahahahha....ohh and wait they were follwed by a huge alien space ship whenever they went...what happend after that....

Sliders was good until they killed Arturo.
From there, it went from a show that explored historical "what if" scenarios, to just another craptacular piece of sci fi cheese.

I remembered reading a magazine article on how the show became more and more intolerable when Fox network started meddling with its creative control from the producers. As a result Season 3 became a bunch of cliches taken from various sci-fi or action romp. After heading to Sy-Fy (formerly Sci-Fi Channel), Season 4 reverts back to Season 2 style. Season 5 became a low point after both Connell brothers left the show, although it has its moments.

story wise, that dimension hoping would get somebody killed, actually makes sense. But god damn, Arturo's death could have been less corny; he died because someone sucked out hsi brain juice come on! The character deserved a more heroic death! And quinn mallory dies because he is part of an experiment? Seriously here.....

story wise again, character deaths make perfect sense, especially if its dimension hoping.
I mean, the likelihood of surviving parallel universe jumping, is in fact LESS than zero. Sooner or later, you will run into a universe that will off you. But the death, could have been written better GOD. In one universe I'm a "pimp" stud who gets hundreds of "bitches." In another, a hated tyrant "bang," I'm dead. Again, survival odds were low from the start, but Jesus the writting...

I use to love Sliders, I would watch every single episode. Until...they morphed the brothers together, that was the final straw. Only one original slider made it to the end...

You're right about that. Fox has a history of cancelling great shows, and intervening with and ruining great shows. When will networks/producers learn that their input sucks, and to just let the director and writers do their jobs.

I have yet to find an old show that was not skull fucked canceled by fox.

They decided to take creative control of the show til the creator left, stop the relationship developing between jerry's and sabrina's character, got rid of john rhys-davies, and decided to make it more action oriented and get rid of the more alternate history storyline. Sci-Fi actually tried to correct it once they got it (even bringing back the kromaggs from the second season). Fox generally ruins anything.

My whole family loved this show when I was a kid. We didn't see much past season two or three (dunno why), but lordy was it fun. ^n_____n^

Man this show was awesome, and Season 2 was definitely my favorite season---not only did it have the best intro theme, but the show really hit its stride during this season. Subsequent seasons just started to really fall flat, especially after Arturo was killed off and they brought in Kari Wuher. Things continued to 'slide' (pun intended) after they got rid of Wade, easily my favorite character of the bunch.
