You are right. It wasn't the inauguration in January 2009. It wasn't the November 2008 election. Entrepreneurs and investors began to realize as far back as the 4th quarter 2007 that socialists would control both the Executive and Legislative branches of U.S. government. And that is when the market began to decline. It will stay down (and probably go down further) until they are thrown out.

Guys, don't be so hard on yourselves. I am a teacher in aussie and I think the reason americans have become so dumb is due in large to falling standards in their education system. They have failure rates of 50% as well so what do you expect in some ways? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying education is everything, but the silly standards (my dog could graduate in USA I think, and he is also happy), coupled to this "I am special" BS must contribute to dumbness....it is not genetic....

I'll quote peter schiff. government oversight is the reason for this mess. More government = more problems. Banks were made by the government to make loans to individuals with horrible credit because they were "working poor". They are to blame as well as speculators as well as the Fed for pumping easy credit into the market. these banks need to fail for the market to have a chance at real recovery.
