Stefan I have to say thank you for spreading your ideas. I used to be a Republican thinking they were "pro freedom and democracy". After seeing a few of your videos I decided to do more research. I now see how false that idea is and advocate a voluntary society. Thank you for saving my brain ; )
You basically just admitted that austrian economics is survival of the fittest (aka social darwinism), human are, like apes, "herd animals", we are social beings rather than selfish individuals, but our current system MAKES us greedy and selfish. Capitalism = undemocratic and therefore unjust.
well, the reason why they never last because the world constantly change. I think the problem concerning an idealistic anarchist society is that the people (if they so did) constructed a commune that is meant to last impossibly though they never have consulted sociology, history, technology and science.
@BrettDunbar "We need capitalism for a very long time to grow our society. Then we will eventually turn into a peaceful utopian anarchist society. Not for a very long time" The freed markets of anarchism sounds like the epitomy of capitalism. I watched a speech by this guy yesterday online, and he really challenged my idea that we need any force at all. It's insane how Statism rocks the globe.
I will innovate for beer and weed. Lots of people will innovate for lots of different reasons. Most innovation is not done by people who are necessarily interested in money. This video in itself is an example of such.
Yeah, b/c capitalism within a statist system has been SOOOOO Successful! Ask yourself; Did Einstein, Edison,Tesla, Ford, Wright Bros, Galileo, Newton, etc innovate for Capital? Or, did they do it b/c they couldn't NOT do it? Because of a purely Internal, intrinsic desire to do so? Innovation & creativity and the urge to progress are inherent to Human Beings. Did the inventors of the wheel or the flint spearhead do it for wealth? They did it for utility, to make their lives better and easier.
The point is not really about abolishing capitalism at all... just the government. Capitalism and technological innovation will prosper and accelerate more under a stateless society than the current highly taxed, highly political and highly regulated system of society.
@GodOfTheInternets: Totally, but I'm still unsure what form of Anarchism is being espoused here. Are we talking real Anarchism, or Anarcho-Capitalism? I've observed that many Americans have trouble grasping the difference. Anything that talks about privately funded police or military is going down the Anarcho-Capitalist route, which for the very reason you gave above, is inherently unjust.
@GodOfTheInternets: Thanks for the clarification. Anarcho-Captalism isn't Anarchy, it's Neo-Liberalism; what we have right now is as close to Anarcho-Capitalism as anyone with any sense wants to get, it wouldn't be in any way progressive to remove what's left of the state and let the corporate bastards take total overt control.
I disagree we're not even close to anarcho-Capitalism, there's have a monopoly of force. Anarchism means "no leaders" so indeed "anarcho"-Capitalism is not really anarchism.
@GodOfTheInternets: I meant that we have the foundations in place for Anarcho-Capitalism; it'd only be a progression of the current Capitalist system, as opposed to genuine Anarchism which runs in the opposite political direction. Anarcho-Capitalism is just a Neo-Liberal front to ensnare would-be Anarchists with the notion that we could achieve an Anarchist utopia without drastically re-thinking our economic and societal structure.
Capitalism is sustained because the media make us see things their way, so are you free now?
Human behavior is a reflection of their environment, the greed individualist people we have today only exists because we sustain such a competitive society, its not our nature, it is what we were taught to value. Why waste energy competing with you, since if we unite we can do much better in any situation.
Its not about seeing things my way, its about seeing facts, and the fact is we have to change.
Men is bad and good, justify and unjustify.. This our nature. Sure, we could create system where good will be promote and evil crush, but we can't forget that it's only minimalizing problem, it's only solution. Not definitly end.
is its in our nature why dont animals act bad and evil? they are still from nature as we are but yet they do not destroy themself with unnecesary act of violence but instead only do what it is needed for theyr survival and heritage
I've often asked myself the same question. The only answer I have to your question is that there exists only human behavior and not human nature.
That is... it is not in our nature to murder each other, but rather we are conditioned by society to form violent behavior leading to our self destruction. It kinda makes sense since the state (which is violent) conditions it citizens. quid pro quo.
Wonderful pitch, especially the choice of photos. I especially liked the touches of humor (e.g. Vivien Leigh in "Streetcar").
I agree with you 100%. I am so glad for the internet, where I can see I'm not the only "oddball" who thinks government itself, being coercive and confiscatory, is an idea whose time has gone. It has become evil, being built solely on problems it creates and then sells us the "solutions." Politicians are not stupid; they knowingly participate in the evil, murderous scam.
If we go to anarchy, and keep all the capatalism ideals, corruption will rule us all.
Self interest corrupts always and ITS NOT POSSIBLE to change, if u keep captalism/free market. A real awarer consciusness will realise that money is meanless, its another tool of control like ur ilusion of government. End the need of profit for self motivation, and use as motivation the desire of a better united, sustainable world.
Greed is how the world operates. We can no change that. Instead, we should use it. The most effective systems in the world use it as a means to prosper, while the least productive shame it.
40% of the world population lives on less a ' dollar a day, people do not have the same oportunities as the others and never will in such a system, we are killing ourselves because of our inability to see that the world is a extension of our bodies,.... you and me are not unique, we are a manifestation of our eviromnent, we are in bond to everything else, the lack of seeing this reality is what may bring our end.... its time to wake up
"anarchy" is yet another system of beliefs with implied parameters. Be an anarchist, your expected to read nietzsche, and be an atheist, just like most of the other anarchist who would chide you into doing so. Its another social structure which offers you a cage of beliefs and behaviours. Away with it and all other forms of social and governmental role fulfilling. Let Natural Law and primitive human affection Reign!
hmm I have a idea... Lets say Italy converted to anarchism, and then Spain tried to invade Italy, I assume then that Italy would have to defend itself... The private military operations in Italy would defend the place... and defend anarchism. Please discuss! I would like to see other peoples opinions of this situation......
That is an excellent question -- I do talk about this in more detail in this free book, it might be worth a listen to at least get some perspective on the issue... :)
@23Memes: Private Military = mercenaries, mercenaries = BAD. That's basic strategy, before we even get into the politics of it; if an anarchist nation relied on mercenary forces, it would become a fascist dictatorship overnight. Politically, the only anarchist military force is a militia; practically, a well-armed, well-trained militia is unbeatable because it comprises the people themselves, rather than paid soldiers.
Ah and you believe this is the reason some folks want to keep others from using their right of free will to chose for themselves? We are not talking about good cop bad cop here. We are talking about a fundimental right that all humans should have. To chose for them selves how they want to live. Basic stuff here. If you chose to live in a place that has no rules or regulations and those around you agree then go for it my friend. That is what choice is all about.
You should entertain Stef, and see more of his videos. His view of anarchism is not the obliteration of all rights and wrongs and laws and ethics, but the VERY contrary! To extend them to EVERYONE. This sounds strange, but really, go see his course of philosophy playlist, it takes a long time to really prove the point, I can't lay it down in 500 chars. Anyway, try it.
Why is it so hard for humans to allow each other to have their own views? Life is all about choices. You can't make choices for others. You can't mandate morality through legislation for others. They have to make the choice for themselves. And before you go promoting anarchy as a way to free the masses up,so they can live the way you think they should live, please remember that most of those people chose to be where they are right now. We are all spirits having a human experience, that we chose.
"Why is it so hard for humans to allow each other to have their own views? Life is all about choices."
Because democracy allows people to secretly direct government thugs to point guns at other people and enforce their will without physical risk to themselves, perhaps?
I think things would be better if we all learned to see things from the perspective of others. We would be medicine for each other, and we would see the world more fully than we ever could with our own two eyes. Heaven on Earth is ours for the taking if we truly desire it. Christians, atheists, democrats, republicans, everyone. There are differences, sure, but different doesn't have to mean evil. Every living thing on this planet shares the same ancestry, the same origin. We are all the same.
It seems to me that the world of anarchy that you call for was already put in place by Jesus, and the coming of the Kingdom of God. a true world of peace and compassion can olnly from my perpective be attainable by following the teachings of Jesus. (distinct from the teachings of the church) Even if you are not a Christian, in order to have peace with anyone you must follow the teachings of Jesus, whether you know them or not. See for yourself, Matthew 5,6,7, and 8. read it, before replying
Steffan, you've found something to try back up your earlier claim, I see. Very well.
Now, did Jesus say any of these actions would or should take place on earth? Did he say any of this should be effected by his followers on earth? No, as a matter of fact. "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord." Therefore, if you are an unbeliever, and you're right, you've nothing to fear on earth.
Steffan, do you feel oppressed because there exist laws such as gravity that govern you?
Do you feel subjugated and marginalised, because if you try to swim underwater without equipment, you will drown?
No? Why? Because these aspects are built into our world and our nature? So it is with God. He created us. With anything you create, it is yours. So it is with God. He created us, our nature, and the world in which we live. Our human nature, created by God, is, in a way, the legislator of moral law.
Presumably, your parents brought you into this world and raised you. Did you not owe them obedience, in justice, so long as everything you ate and drank and wore was provided by them? (Provided, hopefully, out of selfless love, I add?) Nature appointed that children should be subject to their parents. Do you view all unemancipated children as oppressed?
Finally, Mr. Molyneux, please do the intellectually honest thing and read Jesus's parable from the beginning. Yes, that's right. A parable. A parable in which the words you quoted are spoken in the person of a king, regarding a spiritual truth. Read it, starting from Luke 19:11. Have you even read the Four Gospels in their entirety? It doesn't take that long, and if you really perceive Christians (those who actually follow the teachings of Christ) as enemies, then you will find it invaluable.
@abijahbenyeshua: The form of government Jesus espoused was Theocracy, rule by religion; it's the ultimate form of fascism, total power invested "by God's Will" in one chosen ruler, with no possibility of change or dissent. It is the absolute antithesis of Anarchism, which holds the ideal of self-determinism and self-responsibility for every human being.
Dear kRAZY I see everybody as individuals, I find it unsettling to be put in a category due to where I was born or my race or my sex and then have it assumed that I will think or behave a certain way. I feel it is denying my free will.
kRAZY. I see that you like to generalise. And in one way and it may be purely unintentional on your part. But a comment like that smacks slightly of racist overtones.. Indeed it would be a generalisation to say that afro nations are by nature corrupt and dissorganised. And even though a lot may be. Not all are, and that statement would at least be a generalisation if not something more suggestive in nature. Do you see my point?
Not really kRAZY. I am giving your opinion a rebuff to your opinion about 'whites' as you would see it. I disagree with you for the most part and I think you know exactly what I am saying, but you are being coy.. You see. You come from a mind set that likes to pidgeon-hole people.. 'Whites' enquote are the cause of everything. Define white? Would it be someone from say Egypt? You see, you fall into the same trap(possibly unintentionally) as the tag givers on the political extremes..
Interesting. I am guessing you are from somewhere in America. As it's only there that opinions like this is spread to cause more trouble and stress between different groups in societies.. Saddening really.. I won't stoop to the level of blatent irrelevent condesention and spew some rubbish about 'Blacks'. And that term being the term that you would probably pidgeon hole everyone who is that bit darker than white?
If you want to be happy then do as your conscience dictates. You may die but you will die happy. Everything comes with a price. Learning comes at the expense of ignorance and many believe ignorance is bliss. Liberty is not freedom since it is doled out by the master. Freedom is an inalienable right of all. The truly free are those who refuse to propagate oppression. My life is a heavy cross if I am not free. Better to live a difficult life than harm anyone and this includes my enemies. Pray.
I had a good listen to the audio book and I've sent it to a few friends of mine, It's brilliant and thought... no wait... 'action' provoking. A book of logical solutions to irrational problems. Thank you for caring enough about the future of the world to write this book.

Thanks for the picture of Obama at 2:42 as I hadn't seen that on the internet before.

Most of us know "why", but "how" is much harder problem in RL.

Agreed. We've got the goal.. we need the plan and action aspect.

I've read this book.
It's an intelligent, entertaining and muscular analysis of the application of voluntarism in the realms of law, roads, health-care and others.
Anyone who claims to care about the future of humanity should check it out.
Download it asap. It's free btw.

If you're a blockhead, at least you're a humorous blockhead.
