This is a great song! Had the chance to see Jackie at the 2011 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. I was not familiar at all with him until that weekend. Very impressed! Great to see him on stage with Warren, Phil Lesh and Jimmy Herring. The fact that he was on stage jamming with those guys says quite a lot about his guitar playing ability.
This is such a great groove.......awesome song, Jackie's voice is natural and full of emotion, and this live performance by both of these dudes is perfect and comfortable at the same time.
Saw him at Salmon stock in Ninilchik Alaska 8-6 along with many other bands! What a show!! He has the best guitar tone I've heard in years. Love that beard too!
Jackie Greene is a excellent musician. :) I have not seen him live; however I will one day in the near future. :)
Speaking of the future... you should watch "Cooking Time with Andrew... Show." You will not be disappointed... okay maybe you will be... no promises. :)
What the hell? Jackie Greene haters? Really? How sad is that? I find it more telling of the cretins (perfect name for them, babaradio) spewing this fertilizer than it is of Jackie Greene! I saw him perform recently at Lake Mission Viejo, and he rocked! He's amazing! And he's uber cool and nice... he let me take a picture of him with my daughter and he was so freaking cool about it. You haterz are nucking futz.
I got to meet him in Knoxville at a free concert. Jackie Greene is not only an amazing artist, but a great performer too. He is my inspiration on days that I don't think I could stand this world another second. On stage, this guy is on every instrument, he will play pretty much everything, except drums. In the past I would envy him for this talent. And he is the reason I have pushed myself to learn it all and can now can play 8 different instruments, including drums. Sorry Jackie, I'm next.
I just saw him last night at the Doheney Blue Festival. The guy smoked. The Beatles stuff really turned out well. The guy is an obvious talented musician/song writer/performer. His band complimented him perfectly. I DUG IT!!!
really, these comments by the cretins of youtube are not worth responding to. insultingly ignorant they are.
Jackie Greene is a real talent and the people who are here to detract from that are recklessly pathetic. Sort of like the little schmucks that you see in a junior high bathroom writing on the walls.
Jackie is the best! And so down to earth. Really a great person. After a performance he was chillin outside in the back and was just hanging out with me.
It's nice to have this nice clean video of JG, but there's nothing like seeing him with his full band, when he does this song with intertwining two lead guitars. It's seven minutes of pure ecstasy. If you get to see Jackie in a small venue, don't miss it. The best live music experience i've seen in the past ten years.
I'm probably a bigger fan of Jackie Greene because of his voice. But I think Dylan's contribution to rock/folk/blues/country (whatever you label him as) is more powerful. In my opinion it is Dylan's lyrics that make him important. Plus Greene is much younger... Give him time though, I think he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
I mistakenly said in my last response that: "...so, to say Jackie's voice "can't be beat" is kind of ridiculous. It's a matter of personal opinion and yours seems very limited." MEANT TO SAY that "JOHNNY LANG" - someone posted that Johnny Lang's voice can't be beat and I disagree. Johnny is good, but Jackie has made his own success in his own right. Completely agree with zonkadonk. This song/video is one of many good performances by Jackie. Thanks for posting it!
Ever heard of certain blues singer that goes by the name of Jonny Lang? he is considered one of the best guitar players in the world and has a voice unbeatable by anyone! including Jackie
I'm sure most music aficionados have heard of Johnny Lang. Jackie has sold out shows in NYC; far, far away from his roots of Cali. He's been touring (by request) w/Phil Lesh and the Allman Bros., so, to say Jackie's voice "can't be beat" is kind of ridiculous. It's a matter of personal opinion and yours seems very limited.
well hello JGchica, what an interesting log on name you have! I wonder who you could be? we definatly need to see more Jackie shows for sure, we need more Jackie altogeather, all our love to you chicagirl
Johnny and Jackie have their own distinct styles and are awesome in their own right. PS: This song came out way before his latest CD "Giving Up The Ghost" - and I agree that Jackie has already made it big; which is also a matter of opinion. You need to see more shows...
This song is off his latest album " giving up the ghost" I don't know if he will ever make it big though, there is so much great musical talent out there, he has a lot of competition
when i've played it. I capo'd fifth which it looks like he's doing. to me it sounds right to play G, F, C,F,G......then for the "standing on a corner....." strum the same chords accordingly to the lyrics. the bridge is Am G i think. then Am B..... then G. then into the chorus. G, F C F G...and it continues like that. I may have screwed this up. but thats how I play it. i can't find a tab anywhere so yeah. great song and musician. enjoy
I had'nt ever heard of jackie until a few months ago when a deadhead friend of mine mentioned him. After seeing him last night at mieg feild/charter 1 Icould'nt help being reminded of the first time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn at Chicagofest 25 yrs ago just a few 100 yards away! What an amazing talent! He will be HUGE.
In my more than thirty years of going to concerts, I've never seen a more complete talent than this young fellow from Sacremento. He's a young Dylan, Clapton, and Joel all rolled into one! Buy the new album..."Giving Up The Ghost"...NOW!!

I would say it's something like this:
The verse goes G, Dm, C, F, G and the bridge is Am, G and the second time he plays Am, C and then G.
G: 32xxx3 and some hammer-on's on first fret on the B string: 32XX13
Dm: xx0231
C: x32013 and before he plays the F-chord he plays d|-0h2- on the C-chord.
F: 1x3213 and then he does the same thing as on the F-chord but on the D-string and then does a pull of and then back to G.
Hope it helps, I think it got a little messy, but I hope you understand. :)
