how do i say portugal, instead shanghai in this sentence:

The towns and countries names still the same right?

  • portugal is"pu tao ya" in Chinese.

Sometimes it is translated by the pronounciation.

  • Hey Benny what do you think the easiet way to learn mandrin. Thank you!!!

  • Learning Mandarin with Benny!

Haha,Have you ever been to my website?

  • Benny is a typical shanghai guy. 'coz i've found that most of guys there cannot pronounce 'ng'as well. like here, CHU SHENG, they say it like CHU SHEN. no offense

  • Interesting! how do you know that?

  • hehe, 'coz i come from peking. as i know, most of shanghai guys like this. i always tease them about this small peoblem. never mind, cheers, mate.

  • Confusing the -n and ng finals is fairly common in southern Mandarin. I always remember a lot of Shanghai Mandarin speakers pronounce 来 lái to sound like léi - at least older speakers tend to. Perhaps that's no longer common among younger speakers. What do you think, Benny?

  • ma3 lai2 xi1 ya4 = mainland

    ma3 lai2 xi1 ya3 = taiwan

  • chauni ma

  • really helpful!

    thankyou so much benny! lol.

  • You're welcome! rangeralanna24. My pleasure.

  • :S how can I say it ....^^ ?

  • Emirate? in Mandarin, it's "qiu chang".

United Arab Emirates is "a la bo lian he qiu chang guo", but we use abbreviation: "a lian qiu".

  • how can I say Emirate ?

Emirate is U.A.E >> united Arab Emirates

    wo shi ...... ren ?

  • Ni hao! My Emirate friend.

Wo shi a lian qiu ren = I'm from U.A.E

  • I've always wanted to learn how to speak Mandarin. Now, thanks to your vids, I have that opportunity. Thanks a lot Benny! ^_^

  • It would be great! :)

  • Cool videos Benny! They are very helpful in learning basic useful sentences and learning the structure while I am new. Keep it up! 谢谢你!

  • Thank you very much, will check your profile:)

  • 你好! 我有一个问题: 你说"I was born in Shanghai" 是 "我出生在上海",可是我觉得 "我在上海出生了" 是比较好的翻译。这两句话哪里不同?意思一样吗?你可能可以给我解释一下,因为普通话不是我的母语。

  • 你好,我在出生在上海强调的是"地点",我在上海出生了强调的是"出生"这个动作。我们很少会说"我在上海出生了"。

    谢谢你

  • Hey,Melissajyl, well done!!!
