You cant rely compare the 335/535d's to M Cars. Round a track M cars kill diesel cars. Top Gear proved it with a 545i v 535d. Out of corners petrol cars punch out of corners. All i know is racing a 635d in my 997s the bmw was scary on handling. He was all over the place. Up to about 120mph the 635 was no where, but the diesels lose out as the speed increases.

You mean E46 M3? Hmm i dont know...the e36 321hp m3 is little bit faster than the e46 M3 at hugh speed maybe its aero dynamics i dont no. And the 321hp stock m3 capable to beat the computer tuned 535d. I think the race between an E46 M3 and a computer tuned 535D virtually is even.
One thnig you haven't mentioned is a stock BMW speedo tops out at 160mph where the E92 M3 tops out at over 200mph, so a silly comparison. I had a 535d remapped to 345bhp and 730nm and my E39 M5 was faster and far more fun, so I got rid and got back into an M car :-)
Stupid comparison! Both cars are in different conditions, different temperatures, different countries, different altitudes. All of these change performance. M3 WILL r*pe the 535D every single time so this comparison is silly and st*pid!
The E92 M3 is faster, but from a rolling start the advantage it isn't much till 250km/h. There are several companies making remaps for the 35d. This 535d has a custom remap pulled at the max. Almost 400hp twin turbo diesel with 800nm. I would love to see your +10 old M3 get spanked by this 535d.
400hp? Get your facts straight above 350hp it needs a bigger oil cooler. Everybody can ask Wetterauer tuning, they are experts in remapping this engine.
For a track or long periods of top speed runs i agree with you, but it can handle stock with 400hp. Wetterauer don't pull above 350hp because they want to garantee some reliable. The Ecu software of this 535d is not for everyone.
@mrezarezai This is incorrect. I have owned both an e46 M3 and a remapped 335d. The 335d was as quick if not quicker at high speed because it was a good map. In addition, a turbocharged diesel engine that peaks at 350bhp puts out much higher *average* power across the rev-band than a normally aspirated engine like the M3. Trust me, I've had both. Thanks.

Stock 6speed Euro E36 M3 (321hp) is a bit faster than a 535d with a decent legal computer tune. Dyno sheet confirm that the 535d has 340hp.

M3 is A LOT lighter than the 535D so cut with the remap bullsh*t because the 420 HP on the stock M3 have to support a lot less weight.
