  • I was 17 years old when I heard that !

  • granted, Kirk had poofy aspirations at times, but he wrte corking toonz like this uber-gem.

  • NOOOOO !!!

  • somebody tell me, is it Nigel Preston on drums, and Billy Duffy on guitar? :)

  • yes

  • Yes. Nigel Preston is on drums and Billy's on guitar.

  • Brilliant - I saw them throughout 1981 & 82. I still remember them supporting Classix Nouveau at the Rainbow - the place emptied out after ToH left the stage! Last saw them at the Astoria, London in 1991. Can anyone tell me the cause of Nigel Prestons death in 1992?

  • heroin i believe

  • i was in the zig zag club when they made this mick jones was walking around with blonde hair free bar that day great days following toh about

  • Are the girls at the begening of this video from Sweden?

  • ''This party is for you and its for free if you dare''. Saw them at the legendary Glasgow Apollo in Oct '81 supporting The Clash...Hah!.Small wonder I feel disapointed with gigs these days!.

  • Why did The Cult remove the Saxophone??? I would love to see/hear Saxophone in "She Shells Santucary", "Christians", "Firewoman" and in "Wild Flower"

    Anyway, cool song.

  • Does anyone know where I can find TOH lyrics? Specially this song. Don't understand half of it. Great song though!

  • Hint - Google.

  • "don't speak if you can't hear" ;)

Maybe I tried google? Maybe there is nothing there.

I'm not english so could use any help.

  • saw them 82...Luke Rendle,Stan Stammers.awesome!

  • Saw them in Hultsfred late 90s....BEST

  • forgot how good this was ! cheers !

  • Their best song. And they really have great ones.

  • the pacl, theatre of hate n spear of destiny -all exellent-n what a voice -so powerfull

  • billy duffy on guitar..

  • the pack,theatre of hate,spere of desteny,geat bands!

  • I agre, this stuff is great!

  • brilliant video.coolist band ever. we uses to rent a stiff comp video out just to watch this video. kirk is still going strong now in 2008.catch a spear gig near you when they are in town!

  • stiff visions volume 1

  • Replace Kirk's voice with Astbury (and remove sax)and this could easily be a Death Cult/early Cult song - Billy and Nigel obviously influenced the way forward for Ian.

  • Woah I didn't realise The Hop was a Theatre song... I suppose I should look into more ToH material, mostly I only really know Spear

  • Absolute legendary brilliance...

  • This song is as fresh and relevant as the day it came out. Hate to say it, but the revolution is long overdue. I don't know about you but I've had enough of SUVs, plasma tvs, shopping malls, and disappearing icecaps, not to mention 6,000 ICBMs locked and loaded and ready for launch. Time to finally close the chapter of industrialization and get back to real life.

  • You posted the exakt same comment - word for word - on the Westworld clip. So, basically, that makes you a spammer. Well done. :P

  • well, perhaps it's just as relevant for the hop as it is for westworld. by the way, why don't you go fuck yourself.

  • this is meant for my friend "teaflax" regarding his astute comment below.

  • You're just a tad touchy for someone who has a clear conscience. And for someone claiming to a proponent of getting back to "real life".

Settle down and just stop spamming comments. Easy enough.

  • it's just that i don't have a lot of patience for petty, shallow jack-offs like you who have nothing better to do with their time than to worry whether someone posted the same message twice. get a life, that is, after you get a clue.

  • Saw ToH at the Ritz, Manchester in 1981 with Southern Death Cult supporting - amazing gig.

Kirk was the best live performer after Joe Strummer and Bez I've ever seen.

  • If I had to choose between going to see a band called TOH and bathing ape shit, then I'd happily pay to see BAS.

  • probably the best song they ever did

  • First time I heard this song was 'between bands' at the old punk establishment the '62 Club' in Aberdeen. I think it was actually Zounds that were playing and it was my first ever gig : ) My favourite TOH song.

  • Nigel Preston is (was) my cousin....he used to pick me up from my babysitters!!!

  • Top bloke. Saw nigle playing for the cult, but never for toh.Gteat drummer and top man for toh. Thanks for the memoires Nigel!

  • A Perfect tune.

  • c if still had hair it would b just like that ! nice one kirky boy

  • oneof the best TOH songs thank you Mr Brandon

  • The original line up are currently on tour around the UK. No idea what they're gonna look like - but I'll be there in Glasgow! This is what the 80's were really about - none of the Spandau, Duran, etc c**p

  • Great! I had never seen this before...thanks for posting it.

  • I got Stans autograph.

  • i thought this was a remix !!!! sounds so actual ! by the way what as Mr Brandon become ?

  • He is still Mr Brandon. About 18 months ago he asked my if I knew where the nearest post office was on Gipsy Hill London. It was surreal meeting one of your teen idols in such a mundane way.

  • TOH was one of my top favorite bands of the 80's due to the cool/rebel/intelligence of Kirk Brandon. And what a voice! This is the first TOH video I've ever seen--over 2 decades later! Great song! Thanks.

  • I love this! I Love this! I love this song! thanx!!!

  • One of their best tunes!

  • This is my favorite video on youtube. thanx!

  • Glad you enjoy!
