  • The album is great. This video just gets cut off too soon to make anything of it, although a true music fan can already sense, without knowing the song, that something great is about to happen 8-)

  • Glorious.

  • I got the Walls Have Ears double live album. Track 9 was recorded live November 8, 1985 in Brighton Beach. Can't believe i stumbled upon a vid from that gig. Thanks for posting dude! I saw them at Futurama festival in Belgium on 10/13/1985 for the first time. It was shock and awe, big fan since. Opening band at 11 am, and a lot of people hated it. They only got 35 minutes playtime and they played Expressway to yr skull for 13 minutes. Ahead of their time!

  • i've seen a full bootleg video of this.. amazing gig

  • Is this in Brighton? Damn.

  • Look at those people walking along the bridge: how fucking cool would it be to walk out for some fish and chips and see sonic youth playing 20 ft away?

  • this is amazing!!!! i love this song and people who said this suck, grow a pair of ears that function to more than guns n roses and acdc

  • I would say YOUNG Sonic Youth performing inhuman.

    Thanks for the vid.

  • Thurston on bass guitar. Damn.

  • awesome! when sonic youth were still youth!

  • thurston still has the same hairdo until now

  • My smack dealer looks like Kims twin...

  • Brighton, 11/08/85

  • I wish i had the Vox Teardrop lee is playing

  • kim is still a BABE! but WTF is she playing Guitar and Thursan Playing Bass! KICK ASS! I LOVE THIS BAND!

  • This is when Kim was a babe.

  • first time ive seen thurston on bass

  • hell old tunski

  • Lo Fi and Blow Fly, lovely lovely lovely

  • this makes me laugh

  • is this so late that steve shelley's already on board?

  • I love steve shelley

  • yeah me too I just thought this was before he was in the band, the song is certainly old enough

  • this was like 85 or 86.

  • steve is playing here

  • hay dios y de donde es este loco?

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Sclavunos playing the 12 string?

  • i want more noise!!!!!1

  • wait hes on a bass?

  • on some songs.

  • Man, I wish this were the full clip.

  • To the guns and roses fan, to be a Sonic Youth fan requires you to be open minded, and I like guns and roses too.

  • I totally agree

I'm a Guns and Roses fan too but there is no real journey with their songs whenever I listen to Sonic Youth I feel like their taking me somewhere

  • The only thing I could hear was Lee's guitar, but it's still good

thanks for posting the video :D

  • wow! there's an uneducated opinion!

  • Awesome sound.Long life SONIC YOUTH!

  • Sonic Youth at their prime. Amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • Sonic Youth spent the early part of their existence attempting to destroy music before they started sounding a little more melodic and more acceptable to mainstream tastes. They make it all look effortless. Even if you think they're awful, there is nobody out there like them.

  • me gusta su sonido melódico, pero el ruido le da poco en que pensar.

  • entonces no lo entiendes.

  • "intellectual"

obvious that you're full of shit

  • For all you out there that dont understand experimental music go back to your polluted commercial shit that sll sounds the same. Sonic youth had some really incredible music and were part of the NY garage artist music scene....Maybe a little to intellectual for some of you.

  • I can't believe there's still dispute about whether SY is good or not. Oh yeah, this is the internet.

  • I guess a lot people don't understand that they WEREN'T trying to sound like traditional bands, that's what makes them so great.

  • isto é Sonic Youth seus americanos de merda!

  • Yep. It's Brighton beach.. So surreal to see footage of my favourite band ever playing in my home town. Interesting stuff.

  • Doesn't like this*

  • Anyone that like this has little or no taste in good music

  • IT SUPPOSED TO DIFFERENT YOU CUNT

  • Ok, we get it, dumbass, you don't like Sonic Youth. Shut the fuck up.

  • and you're a Guns 'n Roses fan, therefore any opinion you have becomes irrelevant

  • Try harder :D

  • at least you gave them a try

  • this is god awful

  • sonic youth are fukin stupid ,they have like 3 good songs .there like the dead .3 good songs

  • what the fuck, your fuckin retarded, sonic youth are one of the greatest bands ever

  • i think they are playing in the same beach that captain beefhearth play in the 60

  • poor sound, great song

  • noisyyyyyyy

  • you're right

  • Ah yes. The Yoof back in their no-wave days. Good times.

  • Och, that was magic. SY can be horrible, beautiful or both, and to know that it was on Brighton Beach makes it all that much better. And Steve Shelley obviously looked like a maths professor in those days too. Yay!

  • i bet it sounded cool if you were there. that's steve shelley playing drums.

  • what year was this? Is that steve shelley on drums yet?

  • Why does this get cut off?

  • That's all there was on the website.

  • this is weird. as i watch this i realize that this show happened just outside my front door, literally! i live by the pier in brighton, england...and this show took place right there!

  • fuckirnrada

  • that was badass!!!

nuthin' like olf\d school Sonic Youth!!!!! makes me want to jam some shit out.....

Lee has a rad guitar!!!!! NOISE ON, MUTHAS!!!!!

pop drones can whine, whine, whine.....(roll eyes)

    thanks for posting this video!!!

p.s. - i already tried to post this, but to no avail.....in other words, don't be suprised if there are 2 posts by me that are similar.....

  • that was terrible.

and im a huge sonic youth fan too, but c'mon now.

you gotta draw the line somewhere between art and WASTING MY FUCKING TIME!

  • I like noises

  • a 'goo' fan, for sure...

  • Why are you complaining to me? I just upload the thing...

  • @rexnickles i never thought they were all that great live..........saw them in 1988 at city gardens in nj was thought they were out of tune.
