  • That is, when sales are up, employers are allowed to hire, but when sales are down the same employers are not allowed to downsize and fire surplus workers. So employers in India are not bold enough to hire workers; and this results in high unemployment and poverty. The Industrial Disputes Act of India disallows employers from firing employees. No employer in his right mind will hire workers inside India. India's poverty is self-induced.

  • For example, the electronics manufacturing sector is labor intensive but under represented in India because employers are not bold enough to hire workers because the same employers are not allowed to downsize and fire surplus workers when sales are down.

  • India's poverty is self-induced. If you compare India and China, one major difference is the labor laws. Employers in China can hire and fire workers; in India employers can hire but cannot fire employees. If employers cannot fire employees, then employers will not be bold enough to hire either. This has caused poverty in India.
