  • Is the seperation of church and state actually in the constitution?

  • Hello scatzofrast,

Thanks for your video comment on my video. You are very respectful and much more civil than most of my responders. Thank you so much for that. I think mutual respect is so important. I think you have some good points.

    A few responses:

In CA, gays and lesbians already have the same benefits under the law that married people do. Prop 8 was simply about preserving (not changing) the definition of "marriage" itself.

It's true that our country was founded by (cont . . .)

  • (...cont) those trying to escape persecution. And I believe many gays feel that same way now. Which is unfortunate. I believe homosexuality (the act) to be immoral, but I love all people, including gays, equally. There are many people on my side of the debate that do hate gays. Frankly, they are not helping our cause. Hate is never the answer. I too feel persecuted. Somehow the gays are allowed to persecute, hate, and be bigoted all they want while calling us hateful bigots. (cont . . .)

  • (cont . . .) In my mind, marriage never had anything to do with gays in the first place. Just as it doesn't have anything to do with a loving relationship between an Aunt and a nephew, or a person with himself, or any other "loving" relationship. It is simply the atomic family unit that we, as a society, feel is the best possible nurturing environment for a child to be raised. Even better if the ties are biological (adds an extra connection). The law has a right to protect and support that.

  • (...cont) Anyway, again - thank you for your thoughtful and respectful comment. I really appreciate it.

    Take care

  • I disagree with you but first video I have seen which is not spreading hate.

  • They were also pro slavery and cousin marriages.

  • Because we all know gay guys don't know how vaginas work and lesbians don't know what a penis is so they'll never be able to teach their kids about sex. Because I know my parents had to flash me their penis and vagina to instruct me on how babies are made.

  • haha. GREAT POINT

  • Alright, so what your saying is me, a catholic, cannot marry a pretty jewish girl, or maybe a nice ebonic muslim? Whats the difference? I understand, and I also stated, that being raised in a family of gays or lesbians can be different, but you never know until it happens. Besides, once everyone votes no on prop 8, McCain and Bush can legally get married. I know they have been dying to have gay sex together.

  • Public ideals are a target. Not that everybody hits the center but that most people think you should try. No on 8 means you want most people not to think you should try for a married man/woman ideal. Anti-8 will totally change society's sense of normal. If that's what you want, then vote against prop 8.

But if you think every civilization for thousands of years - even ones that openly practiced homosexuality - might have kept a man-woman marriage unit for a reason, vote for it.

  • So Pavlov, to clarify, you think it's best for society as a whole 20 years from now to tell a man raised entirely by lesbians that not only is it not a little sad that he had no father but that it is ideal that he had no father. Just as ideal as having a married father and mother.

If that's what you want your children to grow up believing - and their children and grandchildren after them - then you should vote against prop 8.

  • Genesis, first three chapters. God made the prototypes, Adam and Eve, male and female. Leviticus 18 & 20, I Corinthians 6, I Timothy 1, all make God's opinion of homosexuality among other sins very clear - if you are interested in His opinion.

  • papamamajoe -

& for anyone else who believes that Gay Marriage is wrong because of Leviticus 18 - that it is an "abomination" for a man to lay with a man, PLEASE look into the definition of the word ABOMINATION at the time the bible was written. It simply meant "against the current traditions of the culture". & NOT that one would be condemned to hell.

& actually marriage has anything to do with religion anymore, considering atheists & ANY man & woman are allowed to get married.

    NO ON 8!!

  • sorry *nothing to do with religion

  • Also His opinion says it is not your place to enforce the laws but instead to just inform people about them, you can live by the laws and tell others it is wrong, but it is wrong for you to force it upon others by maybe say, proposition 8

  • Mizuk, if you read my comments immediately below, I think you'll find they have nothing to do with forcing Christian beliefs on anyone - which, by the way I would be horrified to see on many levels.

  • No on prop 8.

  • and where in the bible does it say that marriage is only between a man and a woman?

  • NO to prop 8...oh yea, are you sure your not gay cause you look gay

  • no sorry I'm not. It was just late at night when I did the response haha.
