Either this event is more common than we'd like to think - or I was actually there that night - up on the bridge as she pulled-in to Fullerton. Great vid. shoot as usual - and especially enjoyed the scanner chatter and the added captions. You spoil us foamers, that's for sure.
And another thing sir - clean-out your IM box at SoCalRailFans, I can't reply to you when it's filled up :-) ;-)
Interesting to hear the courtesy of verbal exchange @ 4:00 minutes. Thanks for the captions! Great sound! When time to get under way I was surprised at the rate of acceleration. This deserves some kind of award in my book!
The M-SDGBAR run often includes a power move. This video shows the propane tankers coming back empty from Mexico. When they are brought down to San Diego (for interchange to MX), the train typically consists of 3 power units up front, one about mid-point, and one pushing. The return is typically 3 units up front and they leave the extra units in SD in case they are needed to haul full car carriers north. Then Thursday or Friday the extra's units are moved back north.
That's alot of power for the M-SDGBAR. I counted 11 engines so total HP would be 48400. Also cool scanner receoption. Your scanner is really clear. What model is that?
