And who is going to create these Better Tests: the Federal Government? I have students that are in and out of jail, with parents who are also in and out of jail. I have kids with parents that are drug dealers and drug addicts. I have kids that are raising themselves, some life on the streets or go from one friends house to another. And you want to make testing more rigorous? Come to my school and teach math for a year and then tell me about the President's new plan. kg
With this awesome video, I could easily understand how nonsense it was to evaluate teachers' works by the test scores of their students. I hope US education system would get better with President Obama's new policy.
Kids are not ready for college? Lmao.. As if our colleges are any better than highschools.. Our colleges are just as stupid as our highschool. You could be dumber than a door knob and get a college degree in the USA just like a highschool diploma. Face it. When it comes to education, USA is way behind compared globally. Kids are stupid because their parents are stupid. Generational stupidity. It's an american thing..
Ever since the DOE was created during the Carter administration in the 1970s, it completely destroyed the standards and the public education entirely in the USA. People these days are at a high rate of illiteracy not to mention that some liberals and more importantly religious teaching gets in the way. What's the point of having federal spending if people these days pass through the easiest dumb-down courses.
It's best we should get rid of it and let the parents decided what they want.
The new and improved effort to make NCLB is going to swamp real teachers in more and more paperwork. It's going to be the IRS model in U. S. education.
This isn’t “a teacher's guide to fixing No Child Left Behind”. It’s a politician’s guide to getting votes and more taxes via pretending to care about public issues. It’s BS with on intention of actually fixing our problem. They might as well say “smile, go eat cake, we’ll do what we want”.
its not the fucking teachers fault its the students. lets play around in school guys not do our work not pay attention dont give a shit about our future kids: ok. im in 8th grade people i do my best to do my work and all that preparing for my future. i could name about 50 kids in my grade alone who if they keep doing what there doing are gonna be on the streets. they play around don't pay attention and dont care. i didn't watch the video i just picked this one for some reason
@mrdudedaniel i fault i had to sign in so i could agree with you, your right its not the teachers fault or the parents fault its the kids job to wake up early, go to school, do their homework, behave in class, respect the people around them and do what their suppose to do instead of fooling around and when they get a bad grade they want to blame the teacher or their parent thats not the truth, its an excuse. don't blame other people for your mistakes.
i take offense to the statement that its the teacher;s fault that one quarter of the students dont graduate. and are failing families and communities. maybe we have forgotten about the students who are exceptionally smart! education is a two way street.
While this sounds very nice - I'm worried about a few issues; one being giving the states more control. Look at MI, WI, OH? We need sound reform that addresses the lack of innovative instructional strategies - that implements whats REAL in these kids lives. It's time to get out of the production line mentality and face up to the reality that we are a technologically based nation now and until we provide education that reflects that? We are doomed to always be second best.

@heartlessvietboy "Education is balogny anyway" Did u mean in general or in your country? those kids on the farm running around are getting an education, Farming is not easy, u need to know quite a lot and be able to do quite a lot including balancing a budget.
Ohh and look into population growth, from 2billion people at the start of last century to almost 7 billion now, in 100years! imagine next century 20 billion?
we need to be educated to make decisions about our future
I believe school is absolutely essential in this modern world in whatever form it may be in. I am just researching for unbiased info on the current state of America's schools. And please do not start any heated debates concerning this or any other information that maybe biased.
Kids from Poor Villages in Poor Countries do not go to school. They just play all day. Education is balogny anyway. All you need is a Farm, Clean water and Clean Warm (cool during summer) Shelter so they can live a happy life. Population grows. People come in and colonize. Things are built. Schools etc. But really we need to make better changes in this world. Unless otherwise, a small world is better than a big world.
What won't work is ignoring poverty. What won't work is yelling at teachers. What won't work are longer days (more opportunity for kids to hate school).
Teacher don't want a common core; we already have national standards.
The Blueprint is in opposition to what teachers know--the gap exists due to poverty. Any other explanation is a lie or spin.
End NCLB, screw the Blueprint, give teachers back their autonomy.

education should be given to all. It is the duty of the state to give good education for the people.

The Government needs to get out of the education business and let the states regulate them the way it was supposed to be.
