Thanks for sharing! now i know how to play this from watching you play it! but im using 12gauge.its all about getting that finger bleeding blues tone hahah good for jazz too!
Hey man, I totally digged, yes digged, your solo. that was note-for-note, every cents worth on every bend, each slide, ahww, now that's what I like to hear! Maybe I'll post my version but I doubt it will hold a candle to yours. You sir have attention to detail, and that is a good thing. Keep on rocking...
That's part of it. In the studio, Stevie used two wah-wahs plugged in back to back with a big bar across them to get some of his more stinging tones. The other part is a good overdrive pedal that's designed to overdrive a tube amp (as opposed to a distortion pedal). An Ibanez Tube Screamer will accomplish the same sound, I used one for years.
I'd also like to add that this kind of setup is VERY noisy, as in... there's a lot of buzzing even when the guitar's volume knob is shut off. So brace yourself for that if you do it.
Single coils are notorious for 60hz hum. Excellent playing, where did you learn that piece? What guage strings are you using? Stevie used 13-56s (very heavy).
Well I'm impressed, it's one I've wanted to play since I first picked up the guitar. After watching that I think I might be able to do it now :) Just a suggestion, but you should try 11s or 12s if you want a thicker tone for that piece (or any of Stevie's stuff).
Sorry about that, I'm right-handed (but I write left-handed, go figure). I say sorry about that because I keep forgetting my camera is in mirror mode when I record myself. I shave on my webcam sometimes...it has many uses. Heh.
Thanks, I appreciate that. Check out the same solo on the mongrel Stratocaster (link is under the video description). I'm comparing tone on two different strats.

greggoldman 4 years ago
Marshall JMP-1 pre-amp and Marshall Valvestate power amp.
Wah-Wah pedal set on maximum "down" setting, and a Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive Pedal for effects.

.010s, actually. I taught myself the piece a long time ago by watching Stevie play it.
