I'm not feeling the Scrappy hate. The pup kept our favoritw top dog afloat through the 80s and in repeats (via Cartoon Network and Boomerang) before that damned live-action movie was ever announce. It was either keep Scooby Doo going or have him go the outer-space route then fade away into obscurity like Josie & the Pussycats and the Partridge Family (of all tv properties!). Take your pick, nay-sayers!
Scooby Doo was meant to be a coward and Scrappy pops out nowhere and goes "TATATATAAA PUPPY POWER! We're gonna splat him good!" Hanna Barberra you've disappointed me. The original series "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" are the best Scooby Doo of all time.
Ugh Fuck you Scrappy! Scooby Doo was meant to be a coward and Scrappy pops out nowhere and goes "TATATATAAA PUPPY POWER! We're gonna splat him good!" Hanna Barberra you've disappointed me. The original series "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" are the best Scooby Doo of all time.
the old cartoons with some of the older movies were the best, i hated the live action movies cause they messed up big time, especially making scrappy a villain...
Yeah it was Option 1 right under it in cartoon database was the stand alone 1979 version so A Close Encounter With A Strange Kind (1980) was only the first as a part of the double series.
As a stand alone it started in 1979 with The Scarab Lives!.
First episode was A Close Encounter With A Strange Kind (1980) but that could be only the first episode of this as part of the Scooby-Doo & Richie Rich show.
It's either that or it was first broadcast in 1980 but the cartoons were produced by the company in 1979.
Anyone know where I can find this on the internet? I have the whole ''The Scooby Doo Show'' from like 1978, all the 3 seasons but I can't seem to find this one anywhere and it's from these 2 series that I have all my Scooby Doo memories from :)
@sec0ndevolution Yeah well without Scooby, Scrappy'd be gag'd up in a box floatin' down a god damn river by now. LONG LIVE SCOOBY DOO, WHERE ARE YOU! SERIES
I remember this cartoon! Everytime I see Scrappy Doo, all he wants to do is splat the bad guys, but his Uncle Scooby would NOT allow him to do that.
I even remembered the time Scooby and Scrappy Doo did some disco skating to a rocking rendition of Staying Alive, which really got me rocking and rolling to sing along!
Not only that, Scrappy stood up against The Blue Scareb and won!
I liked Scrappy. I can see why you'd hate him but I actually liked him. In fact, he used to be my favorite Scooby Doo character (that is until SOME people made a movie and RUINED him). Seriously!
It's weird but I was watching an episode of The Scooby Doo show which was made a few years before this and I noticed that it seemed to animated differently, anyone else agree with me?
@BigRedUnderpants1 Probably because it had newer animation out in the time period it was made. Too bad they aren't able to impress us with the animation today. T_T
@lurch321 I'm with ya bro get aload of thisScooby Doo was meant to be a coward and Scrappy pops out nowhere and goes "TATATATAAA PUPPY POWER! We're gonna splat him good!" Hanna Barberra you've disappointed me. The original series "Scooby Doo, Where Are You!" are the best Scooby Doo of all time.
I love the instrumental part from 0:16 - 0:27. This instrumental part is also in other Scooby Doo Themes. Does anyone know, where I can find a song with a long part of this instrumental Scooby theme?
the 1st season was good but because they sticked the same story of solving mistries and they had the whole cast Fred Velma Daffney but in the 1980's it died for me they ......even Vincet Price couldn't bring me back lol.
@christiemarie27 piccolo in the dbz series was a bad guy for most of the original dragonball and hes a good guy in dbz, sasuke in the naruto series was a good guy till the end of part 1, captain black in captain scarlet was a good guy early in the 1st episode and he was a villian for the rest of the series, jacen solo from the star wars expanded universe became a bad guy in legacy of the force
Its a shame, as i recall they never aired this show regulary on CN, only at random times when its a marathon or some special. Honestly i would've loved to haven seen this show more.
Can't beat the golden cartoons like these. I remember back in the day late ninties when Cartoon Network would air pretty much all Scooby Doo shows from late morning to the afternoon which included this show.
i have to find a freedog to train cause of all that tv, bad stuff. it made me slow on my feet, but i can catch my little self if im closw enough. u know im bab, and okay wit it
@kylephantom4 , Wrong Scrappy-Doo made the show better. he is my favorite character back then and still is even now yrs later as an adult. he is still my favorite out of the Scooby-Doo series.
i'd agree. i actually liked this incarnation (the original five+ scrappy) but it was really awful when they replaced velma, daphne and fred with scrappy. they actually did that because the ratings of the show started to sink, and CBS wanted to cancel it. then scrappy entered and he actually "saved" the show from being canceled. quite interesting. but the original five is the best in my opinion.
I agree with you on all points. I liked these episodes a lot since th 1978 episodes left a bit to be desired in my opinion (although I still enjoyed the 1976/77 episodes). This season seemed fresh: new character and Hoyt even rescored the series. (The Nichols cues were no longer being recycled from the '69 episodes--although I LOVE that music--and they weren't using the 1978 disco-sounding music which was also used on the Superfriends but didn't work for Scooby). One correction: it was ABC.
ABC, not CBS. Scooby did start his journey on CBS, which lasted until 1976. The first Scooby series to air on ABC was "The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour" on September 11, 1976.
0:43 Owned! xD I always loved to watch this when CN had the christmas scooby doo marathon. Aah those were the good old days...everything sucks nowadays
